My wife and I got to Kaiser early so she suggested that we go to this place because she knows I haven’t eaten yet. Checked out the menu. First thing that caught my eye is the Kaiser club. Then I saw it say please specify bread excluding BLT and Kaiser Club. I order my food with the lady. I notice that the other lady is training the other, the one who’s helping me. I give her my order and the trainer is he one asking me all the questions. «What kind of bread do you want?» Isn’t the bread set? Whatever… I asked what kind they have. She listed them. She asked did I want everything in it. Yes. I was thinking to myself. If you’re training, don’t you want the other lady to say all this? The sandwich was ok. In starvation mode anything would be good. But for that price for a club sandwich, I don’t know. There was only three slices of thin turkey. Small strips of bacon and two slices of tomatoes. And cut in half only. Please refer to picture. Also, I got charged for a CRV fee of 5 cents for my bottle of Snapple. Shouldnt they pay for the crv fee not me? It’s 5 cents yeah but this is like a hidden charge. These mfs. I’m still hungry. I should had just went to subway by Best Buy across the way. This place is lucky because of their location. Where else would the staff go to for food. And of course they can charge an arm and a leg because they know people will pay it.

I felt like we got ripped-off for the regular-size cappuccino’s we ordered today. Only 15% of the cup is filled with espresso/milk, and the rest of it(~80%) is foam. Maybe I am being too greedy? Anyways, I am not too picky about the quality, but I would suggest using a smaller cup about half of the size if this is the amount you are serving.

AWFUL. What exactly is awful? Everything except its location. The food is cheap and very low quality. What I would imagine they serve in prison. Not joking. The service is non-existent. Rushed, people barking at you. They seriously could not care less if their establishment is providing a decent experience. I have gone a handful of times. Only reason is because it is the only convenient option if you have 20 minutes to kill before or after a Kaiser appointment. I swore today, never again. DONOTWASTEYOURMONEY!!!

I am 39 weeks pregnant and I always come to hospital during my routine visit. Sometimes my appointment is early and I don’t have time to grab something to eat from home. So Sugar Bowl Bakery & Restaurant seems to be a convenient place. My first time, I ordered like a set of DIMSUM which came with a bit everything. The Dim Sum was okay, nothing special. The dim sum itself was big but thick with the wrapped. Second time I visited I tried their bakery which was good. And the third time, I tried the wonton noodle soup, the order was a big portion so I had to share with my husband. It was just okay, not bad or good either but the price was inexpensive. Overall, If you need a place to grab something quick while you are in the hospital, this is a place for you. But do not expect the quality of the food. The place is clean and service is okay.

Don’t order the veggie burger. I was expecting a veggie patty, got toast and lettuce instead. Ok, maybe a couple of sprouts and tofu cheese. But still, all that for $ 7??? F that

Oh how I wish the customer service was better, it would definitely make a difference. The food over all was okay. I had just got some blood work done at the hospital and decided to stop by for some lunch here. I got the clam chowder, potstickers and cashew nut chicken. The food tasted okay, I feel like it was missing something. There are nice tables you can sit at and enjoy your food and they clean up after you when you are done.

This place is awful. The service is awful. No one knows what they’re doing. They’re the cheapest people I’ve met. They’ll charge you more than the listed price on the menu and won’t take any amount less than $ 5 for credit card. The food is over-priced, frozen, reheated, Costco food.

I believe The location of this bakery gives consumers a preconceived notion that health food items are served here. Quite the contrary! Based on the simple appearance of the food one can clearly see. The quality is terrible… not fresh. The potatoes instant. The«Chinese» food resembles that of Panda Express. no offense. I supposed what surprises me the most — is the abundant health care professionals who feast here! — you are what you eat. right. I ordered a turkey, avocado, and Swiss sandwich. A very predictable/standard safe go to. two bites in. and I stop chewing. Something tastes quite off. Peeling back the layers of my sandwich. and there it is. «Swiss cheese» or should I say cheese like substance. resembling something more along the lines of gack. You know the since experiment you did as a child with the borax. So terrible.

Had an appointment at 2:30&4:30, and during the mid point realized that I better grab something or I would not be eating till 10pm. There are not a lot of options in the area so I decided to check out the Sugar Bowl Bakery, BTW anyone else here used to go to their location on Balboa when it still existed. I used to get the Jelly Rolls there, though most persons I saw ordered savory dishes, As for the Menu here at the Geary location, it sort of reminds me of Lee’s, with a mix of Sandwiches, Salads, and Asian dishes, but with the addition of tired cafeteria specials served via their steam table ‚ I have been attempting to eat well so I struggled with my choice, but in the end opted for the Chinese Chicken Salad, because in all my years its been a safe go to dish in ever restaurant I have ever visited, that was before today ‚ Now lets be honest, its nearly impossible if your paying attention to what you are doing to screw up a Chinese Chicken Salad, because in the end its just assembling already cooked or prepared elements, but I guess the caveat is that someone gives a damn about what they present because in this case it would have been clear that the Old and Wilted Lettuce should have never been used in a Salad, and should have been regulated to a Soup, or a Stock, So lets break it down this dish had 3 primary components Lettuce(Old and Wilted), Chicken that came as a decent portion, and a Dressing that had far to much Soy Sauce making the dressed greens nearly inedible. As for the secondary elements they were barely noticeable making the dish horribly unbalanced in both flavor and texture. If I ever found myself eating here again I will stay away from everything with exception of possibly checking out their Soups that I saw someone get as a to go order while I ate,

Second time I had a wonton noodle soup here — very tasty, huge bowl of yummy, hot soup — lots of wontons and good noodles. Somehow soup always seems right when I’m dealing with medical issues — and a good blast of siracha clears everything right up. The staff does a pretty good job of hiding how helpful and friendly they really are. Check it out.

Dropped by during a routine visit to grab something to eat. The choice consisted mostly of Chinese food and not baked goods like I expected. I grabbed myself a cold drink from the cooler along with a salad and sat down in one of the chairs. The interior of the place looked rather nice with a lonely bottle of sriacha sauce on each table. There was a display case of jewelry and accessories for sale near the front door which was strange seeing as this was a hospital. If you need a quick drink and don’t feel like paying an arm and leg at the vending machines, the ‘bakery’ is a solid choice.

Not bad for convenient food on the go. On my way to a clients home close by, I realized I should probably grab something to take with me to eat later being I would not have the time to go serenading around trying to find something. I was able to find a parking space right in front which added to the convenience. This is total cafeteria style. I guess perhaps because its in Kaiser? :) They have an average selection of breakfast and lunch items to choose from, as well as a less then impressive selection of pastries to chose from. I was in protein style mode, so I got an order of scrambled eggs and sausage. It usually comes with the typical toast and hash browns, however, I opted out on both. I also got a small cup of coffee to take with me. It was made fairly quickly and came with generous portions of both. Both the sausage and eggs actually turned out pretty tasty. Eggs were a little greasy but not unbearable. Coffee was actually ok as well. Total came to like $ 6 dollars and some change. Can’t say I will ever make it a point to stop in again, but I will say it was convenient at the moment and satisfied my then craving.

I realize that posting a negative review on what is essentially a hospital cafeteria is a bit of a cheap shot but I just want to make sure you aren’t fooled by the exterior with their sign for their«award winning bakery.» It’s about as bad as you think it’s going to be. Get your coffee there but only order food if you’re absolutely out of other options.

The best and worst thing that could happen was me discovering this place. I loooove dim sum, discovering that they carry BBQ pork buns, steamed buns and shu mai before my 7:30a appointment was amazing. Now having that knowledge and wanting to stop every time I am at Kaiser, definitely a curse.

This is a VERY convenient location in the lobby of the Geary Street Kaiser building. That being said, I would never in my life eat here UNLESS I had some sort of Kaiser visit scheduled before or after… I have stopped here on 2 – 3 occasions, and my selections have not been very adventurous. However, I was VERY happy with my chicken pot-stickers yesterday. 5 very plump, freshly made pot-stickers which did not appear to be recooked Ling Ling pot-stickers from Costco(they were much larger actually). As somewhat of a pot-sticker addict, these received a solid stamp of approval, and I believe they were a good value given their size at approx $ 6 for 5 pieces. I’ll order them again for sure. I have additionally devoured their baked pork buns($ 1.35ea), which I believe are brought in from a local bakery, they are solid as well. In summary, I’ll stick to these items, maybe branch out a bit, and hope that my family and I remain healthy so we don’t eat too many meals at Kaiser!

On many occasions I’ve picked up a hot dog bun or a barbecued pork bun from Sugar Bowl and they’re about as good as what I find in Chinatown. I wasn’t prompted to write a review, though, until I had an actual full-on meal there today. Now, I can’t speak to the rest of the menu, but based on what I experienced today I think it’s a safe bet to choose any of Sugar Bowl’s daily specials. The roasted salmon fillet looked appealing, but my kid and I went for the parmesan chicken breast: It was surprisingly good and MORE than enough for both of us, for under $ 9. The chicken breast was nice and moist and the crunchy breading very flavorful. The mashed potatoes were most likely not from scratch, but hey… gravy fixes everything, right? It was just fine for a quick lunch. I was pretty impressed to get such an appetizing meal from what is essentially a hospital cafeteria. Their regular menu prices are appetizing as well: If I hadn’t had places to go to this evening, I would have picked up a second order of the chicken for dinner. It was that good.
