Their meat is good, sides need a little work. Mac n cheese was solid, greens a little salty. I have had overly sweet yams and dry cornbread from here before too. Serving are huge, can easily feed two but prices reflects the portion. The oxtail I got we’re YUMMY four large pieces, about $ 16. Food takes awhile, half your lunch time so call a head and order ;)

This is a very good place for BBQ. The service is fast and efficient and the restaurant is clean. I had the baby back ribs, which were tender and fall off the bone perfect, with a side of candied yams, greens, and cornbread. Having grown up in the South East(Miami), I would highly recommend giving this place a try.

This was my first time going to this place, and my experience was not a good one. I ordered my meal for take out in which I ordered«The Tri-Tipper» sandwich for $ 11.95 and a side of Mac & Cheese for 4.95. The Mac & Cheese was okay, and the tri-tip wasn’t bad. The tri-tip was tender. The worst part of my experience here was first, the waiting and slow service. The workers there seemed extremely unorganized and didn’t really care about the order of the tickets. My co worker and I were served after multiple people came after us, and when we asked them about it they seemed to have lost our orders. I understand when its lunch time and it gets crowded things happen but bringing it to their attention and still having to wait a whole lot longer is kind of ridiculous. Second thing, after I received my order and got back to work, I opened up the box to begin eating it and I instantly found mold on the soggy bun of the sandwich in multiple areas. Still having read the reviews, gotten back to work and was in disgust from the mold, I put the bun aside and still ate the meat. Which again was okay. Usually, I try to go back to places to give it a second chance, but I won’t be doing that for this place. If its your first time coming here, I hope its better than mine, but try it for yourself.

Ugh… so, I’ve successfully avoided this place whenever coworkers go to lunch. Unfortunately, during our holiday potluck, a coworker decided to get a tray of tri tip steak. I had no idea he got it at T-Dub’s until after I ate some. I was sick on the toilet for the entire evening once I got home. Same exact situation happened the other two times I’ve ever went there. There’s something bad in their sauce… if you have a sensitive stomach, try another spot.

What’s the upside of having to go into the Hall of Justice? Well, you won’t see any of the Super Friends, so it must be T-Dub’s On Friday’s! Dumb jokes aside, the BBQ was very good. It was tender and served in great portion. I got a combo special of ribs and chicken. Only one choice of sauce, unfortunately. The mac and cheese was thick and rich. The cheese was straightforward, not tangy, but still good. I also enjoyed the potato salad. In what would be considered one order, I definitely had enough for two meals, and I’m a big eater.

Sometimes, you just need some greasy goodness. For those times, T-Dub’s on Fridays is there for you. This place is located right across the street from the courthouse on 6th and Bryant. My boss introduced me to this place back in the day, and I’ve been a fan ever since. You definitely can’t go wrong with the Mac N Cheese and BBQ. Ohhh man. I’ve only had take-out from there, so I can’t attest to the quality of their service; however, I can say without hesitation that for price and taste, I’m definitely a fan! Now go forth and stuff your face.

its across the street from the Hall of Justice 850 Bryant… so its REALLYTOUGH to park! But don’t let it discourage you… the food is awesome! I kept seeing my friends on facebook and Unilocal posting about this place… so i had to come and see for myself. i ordered the pork shoulder 11.95. If you want to see prices and the menu… take a look at the pics at the top… some people were kind enough to post them, and they’re clear and correct. It was a LOT of pork… more than most places give. it was sweet and spicey… oh sooo good. i also ordered the hot links sandwich… which was really for my dad but it looked so good with the french fries, i tried it and ate it all… lol. the pork can with two sides… i took macaroni and cheese and the dirty rice. both really good… but i’m all about the BBQ here. I look forward to coming back here… hopefully cuz i’m nearby, not because i’m at the HALLOFJUSTICE.

Would’ve gotten a solid 4 stars if some of my food wasn’t cold! Yes, I understand that most of these BBQ places don’t even cook them on the spot because that would take too long but at least make sure everything is hot before you serve it! I came here one rainy day with my girlfriend and I was expecting good things because of the great reviews. I ordered the short ribs with baked beans and the greens, which tasted mediocre at best. Baked beans tasted like it was out of a can and heated up. Anyways, onto the short ribs. The short ribs did taste good as I liked their sauce but once I got to a certain side of the plate, the short ribs were ICECOLD. Yes, ICECOLD. Not even SLIGHTLY warm, just ICE cold. The other half of it was slightly warm but the entire left side of the rib, no wait, the entire left side of the PLATE was cold. EXTREMELYDISAPPOINTED. My girlfriend had the tri-tip steak and it tasted fine. At least her food was hot/warm. I really like the BBQ sauce but the cold food really killed it. She also had the cole slaw, which tasted slightly better than KFC’s(notice the comparison) and the mac and cheese was filled with oil. Overall, I probably won’t be back because for one, parking was super limited and the food was cold. Did I mention that the food was cold? ***Parking***: SUPER limited because it’s located by 850 Bryant. Good luck with parking. Cash and Credit accepted.

My brain doesn’t work. It’s Friday. It’s raining. It’s been a terribly stressful week. First, I was outside painting stupid wooden panels for all of Sunday and Monday. Not very relaxing. Then, I had to go to work and really put my back into something that has come up at the office. It caused a scurrying like Noah and his ark, trying to gather up the world before the storm hit. And then the storm hit on Thursday and everything got turned upside down. I made plans with Patty to have some meat on a plate on Thursday. Even though I was wearing my best white shirt and suit, I did not back down from the BBQ. I did ask them to put sauce on the side since I am a messy eater. We shared the two item combo with 2 orders of mac-and-cheese and 2 corn bread. The mac-and-cheese was a little greasy. At the bottom was a beautiful yellow slick, like a melted rain jacket. Gross, maybe. But it also illustrates the beautiful nature of real cheese(rather than just a roux with some cheese flavoring). The corn bread was sweet and tender. The crumb was large and not too delicate. I hate delicate crumbs. HATE! It makes me so mad when I’m trying to eat a baked good but the crumb is too delicate and the whole thing falls apart on the way to my mouth. HATEIT. The two item combo was huge. It filled the entire square take-out container. We got the baby back ribs and brisket. Everything was falling off the bone tender. I could rip apart the slab of ribs with my fingers and a plastic fork, even after it was refridgerated overnight! And I’m not a powerful girl. It was purely, tender meat action. The two of us ate our fill while sitting in the back of the restaurant. There was so much left over that I brought some homemade bread on Friday and I had brisket sandwhiches with Ray. The extra sauce on the side came in really handy with the sandwich. The sauce brings the whole thing together. It was smokey, sweet, tangy but not vinegary, hint of spiciness, and chunky. I don’t think it was entirely pre-made sauce. It is much better than most of the BBQ sauces I’ve tried. Alright, this review is over before it started because my brain is broken. Can’t hardly string together words to form a sentence. Grammer is ka-put. Spelling is no-no. I have no brain, I can’t think. Stop the madness. Is it the weekend yet?

Ribs are well cooked, fall-off-the-bone goodness slathered in a sweetly-tangy barbecue sauce. Easily the best meat they make and probably the best bbq you’ll find in San Francisco. The bbq chicken pieces are huge and moist throughout, als slathered with the same sauce as the ribs. Tri-tip was a bit disappointing on its own, but its also nicely moist(perhaps too much so) and coated in the sauce. Yup, pretty much everything is coated in that sauce, so your experience with the meat will largely depend on how you like(or dislike) your sauce. Their cornbread is Amazing and they try their best to make sure that you get a hot one. Crisp on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside. The sides are also great as well. Potato salad is freshly made and not too mayo-y, brussel sprouts are well seasoned(bit salty sometimes), and the mac n cheese hot and awesome(albeit a bit oilier than I’d like). The sides are good enough that they make up for the times that the meat has been a bit inconsistent. Been here a few times, and the experiences were a bit uneven. I highly recommend you come here around lunch time when they’re busy and everything is piping fresh. Prices look a bit steep, but you get an enormous amount of food, so bring a friend to share with.

Dee C.: «So, which Bail Bond did you chose?» Me: «Huh?» Dee C.: «When you get arrested for public drunkenness or indecent exposure, I’ll know which Bail Bond to go to.» Me: *Looks around* «Ummm, ermmmm… Aladdin Bail Bonds?» *scratches head* Dee C.: «I’ll go to Bad Boy Bail Bonds since you like bad boys.» Me(thinks to herself): «But, I like IT Nerds and Engineers…» *SIGH* T-Dub’s on Friday’s is unassumingly located in a small alleyway across the Hall of Justice(850 Bryant) near all the bail bonds. My friend and fellow Unilocaler Dee C. had seen T-Dub’s on my bookmarks and suggested we go there one day for dinner as she use to work with the owner, Thomas aka T-Dub. On Friday, 11.4.11, we came to T-Dub’s at 6PM for dinner. Being BBQ, most items are made ahead of time and placed in steam trays so I highly recommend coming for lunch for the freshest grub. T-Dubs have an array of BBQ(Ribs, Brisket, Tri-tip, Hot Links, Chicken, etc) which you can mix ‘n match with combo meals. Choice of Original or Spicy BBQ Sauce(get the Spicy); request it on the side so you can control the saltiness. They also have daily specials like Oxtail, Fried Chicken and Turkey Wings. Each order comes with two sides(Dirty Rice, Collard Greens, Candied Yams, Mac ‘N Cheese, Red Beans, Coleslaw, Potato Salad or Fries) and a cornbread muffin. Portions are very generous and enough for 2 people. 2-WAY COMBO: BABYBACKRIBS&BRISKET w/Mac ‘N Cheese & Collard Greens($ 16.95) *BABYBACKRIBS: Perfectly cooked to a fall-off-the-bone tenderness. They’re lightly seasoned and smoked just enough to highlight the natural beefy flavor. *BRISKET: Very tender but it would have been more moist if the brisket was sliced across the grain. *SPICYBBQSAUCE: OFFTHEHEEZY! So this award winning sauce use to be bottled and sold to consumers and I can see why. Rich, thick, and deliciously tantalizing with a pop of tangy and smoky flavor with a sweet undertone followed by a fiery kick. *MAC ‘N CHEESE: Rich and greasy. The shell pasta noodles were tender but were broken in pieces. I didn’t detect a béchamel sauce and just crisp cheese pieces. *COLLARDGREENS: Needing to round out this calorie busting meal, the collard greens were nicely tender and no bitterness whatsoever. The small pits of pork added some depth of flavor to the greens. Since we came towards the end of the day, the meat and the sides were lukewarm to room temperature. Had the food been warm, I think it would have made a huge difference in the taste and texture of everything. It’s hard to find solid BBQ in the city, so I would definitely come back for the babyback ribs and the spicy BBQ sauce. Thomas is awesome by the way and very down-to-earth. He still had pictures of when he and Dee worked together back in the day. He even busted out his ipad to show us pictures of her when she was 16 for some good chuckles. I don’t think she was laughing though. :X OTHERNOTES: *Only open Monday — Friday *Come for lunch instead of dinner *Very clean and good amount of seating *CC’s accepted

Hidden Gem at an affordable price! This is where Yellow Pa Taut(the burmese restaurant) used to be a few years back … Their entire menu seems to be pretty awesome. Out of the mains, I’ve had the ribs, tri tip(sandwich), pork shoulder, and brisket. Out of the sides, I’ve had the fries, candied yams, collard greens, and mac n cheese. The rib was fall of the bone juicy. The tri tip was tender. The pork shoulder was super tasty, as was the brisket. There’s just something about their BBQ sauce that tops it off — tangy with a bit of heat. LOVEIT. The entrees are pretty large and shareable. The sides were hit and miss. Sometimes the fries are stale, sometimes edible. The fav amongst the group was the candied yams. The place is pretty quiet for a bbq join. There are tvs all around so you can watch various day time shows(we played long with family feud once). Service is very friendly and nice. Love the sauce. Love the meat. Love that its never too busy when I get there. Will be back soon. FYI– they take CC + Cash.

3.5 stars. I wrote my previous review of T-Dub’s before taking a trip to the Midwest & South and have now become a BBQ snob, thus the updated review. Yes, T-Dub’s ribs are fall off the bone, but they lack the smoke that makes BBQ so complex and delicious. The brisket was only moderately tender and was about 1⁄3 fat, which I know is common at some authentic BBQ joints but I still don’t appreciate it. The cornbread was disappointingly dry. The collards are ok, cooked with pork bones for flavor. Cami’s candied yams were amazing as ever. And their sauce is tasty — tangy, spicy, sweet, smokey — reminds me of one of the sauces at Arthur Bryant’s in KC. Portions are large — I think the $ 16.95 rib & brisket combo platter fed me, someone who eats small portions, for 4 meals. Nowhere near the worst BBQ I’ve ever had, but certainly not the best either. For the Bay area, T-Dub’s is decent.

I really like this off the beaten path BBQ. The guys that work there are really helpful and very friendly. The food is very good… great chicken, great sausage, nice pulled pork, and nice baby backs. The sides were also very good… good fries, nice slaw, and creamy potato salad. the place is very clean, TV screens everywhere, Hard to eat while watching Nancy grace’s hair! I will definitely come back. You get a lot of good food for a very reasonable price and the staff here is amazing. thanks guys

Obscure Location… which is hiding some good BBQ. Surely this is not the best BBQ, but it is good for an area that does not have a lot of great food in this genre. Worth a trip if you are craving some good cornbread, and spicy BBQ sauce over some ribs! The sides were a pleasant suprise as well — Mac and Cheese!

«A good friend will come bail you out of jail. BUT a TRUE friend will be sitting next to you saying… Damn, that was fun!» So when you and your true friend get out of 850 Bryant in San Francisco, you won’t have to walk far for excellent BBQ. Directly across the street from«jail», you can actually just jaywalk right across Bryant to T-Dubs.(BTW, I would never promote Crossing the street outside of marked cross-walks of course) I discovered some of the best, if not the best BBQ in San Francisco. T-Dubs definitely gives the biggest portions I’ve seen. This food isn’t for any light weights. Everything comes big, rich, and delicious slathered in a sweet BBQ with a little bite to it. So I brought a couple of my friends with me so we could do some damage. Here’s our order: Tri Tip: generous amount of strips of tender beef Brisket: Slices of beef laced with tasty fat Links: BBQ sausage Chicken: No small pieces here. An order comes with two leg quarters. That means two thighs and two drumsticks. Baby back ribs: fall off the bone tender. T-Wangs: Fried wings. No sauce necessary for me. These are some fresh fried, piping hot chicken wings. Took a good 10 minutes after it came to the table before I could pick one up, but they were moist and fried perfectly. Mac & Cheese: Some of the best I’ve had. Rich & Greasy. Loved it. Candy Yams: Who needs dessert? I got candy yams!!! We left satisfied, tired, ready to go home for an afternoon nap. I’ll even pass on dinner. So whether you end up near 850 Bryant for jury duty, a fix it ticket, or getting out after a night of hell raising, get some T-Dubs. Like Keyshia Cole«everything they do is B-I-G»…

If there was ever a place in San Francisco that belongs on that Travel Channel travesty of nutrition, «Man Vs. Food», it’s T-Dub’s. And on Friday evening, food won. Jamie W. and I were in the mood for barbecue, but we had yet to find any place in the city that satisfies our mutual need for great ribs and brisket at the same time. I actually live within walking distance of T-Dub’s but wasn’t even aware it was there since it’s near the courthouse and all the check cashing places I generally try to avoid when I’m out on bail. It’s really a lunch place that they leave open until 7PM. Truth be told, some of the food tasted like it had been under the heat lamps a bit too long. But most of it was succulent and to say you get a lot for your money is an understatement. You get greeted by Thomas Ware, the gregarious owner who opened this semi-hideaway location last October, which replaced a Burmese place I was hoping to try. He has one of those oversized personalities that would be a prerequisite for a nickname like T-Dub. I assume that’s his nickname, but what the hey, no one calls me E-Ugg… and lives to tell about it at least. OK, I made that up. Don’t call me E-Ugg… ever. Anyway, as an initial rite of passage, he offers up a generous piece of a St. Louis-style rib called Izizzeler’s Rib-Tippler(named, I believe, after a family member). Delicious on its own(see photo before I devoured it). A skinny Vietnamese girl behind us complained it was too big at which point I rolled my eyes and made an unsuccessful grab for her meat. Not having any idea what size the portions were, I ordered the $ 19.95 Three-Way Combo of Baby Back Pork Ribs, Tri-Tip and Chicken with two sides, Mom’s Macaroni & Cheese and the Pop Yo’ Collar Collard Greens with Hamhocks(see photo). What was served could have pleased a small army of overweight parole violators. My God, it was the most ridiculous amount of food I’ve seen on one tray in a long time. But it was surprisingly good and flavorful considering I didn’t see a smoker on the premises. The tri-tip was the standout of the three with the chicken a close second since it wasn’t as dried out as it could have been under the circumstances. Jamie was somewhat more conservative and got just the Baby Backs and Tri-Tip for $ 16.95, yet it still looked like a huge pile of tender, savory meat with a heavy blanket of sweet sauce. Out of the dwindling selection of sides, he went with Cami’s(very sweet) Candied Yams and Pickle’s(very moist) Creamy Cole Slaw(see photo). Our fingers got so sticky that Spider-Man was getting jealous of our super-human ability to remain glued to the formica with nary a napkin to give us any semblance of cleanliness. Dessert? No way. To-go containers? Yes please, Mr. T-Dub. We needed to roll our sizable leftovers out with a dolly since there was no way we could have finished all that food at one sitting, but at least we were taken care of for the next day. Like I said, food won! FOOD — 4 stars — gluttony, thy name is T-Dub…but let us be gluttonous sometimes, OK? AMBIANCE — 3 stars — a hideaway across from the courthouse that no one would find on their own… unless you’re making a break for it… don’t try it, lots of police cars in the vicinity SERVICE — 4 stars… Mr. Ware is a generous soul rightfully proud of his ‘cue TOTAL — 4 stars… wasn’t Norm’s favorite place to eat on «Cheers» the Hungry Heifer… well, Norm would be happy here, too

Soul food in the Bay area? I never thought it could be good — let alone possible — but come on, can you resist going to a place with a name like T-Dubs on Fridays? I can safely say that this place owns up to its totally pimp name. We got there just as they were closing, and the only meat left was a half rack of baby back ribs. I was sad that we had the last portion; moreover, we had to take it to go, leaving it to cool off in the whipping San Francisco wind. So twenty minutes later, I skeptically picked up my first rib — and the meat literally slid off! It was still tender and flavorful, with just the right amount of fat… I have never had such an enjoyable lukewarm meal. The candied yams were delectable, rich and smooth and true to Southern style(for those who aren’t familiar, VERY sweet — so be aware!), with a kick of nutmeg. I gobbled it all up even after stuffing myself full of ribs(also true to Southern style, portions are LARGE). Of course every review has to have its down sides. The mac and cheese was not amazing, it lacked creaminess. They also go heavy on the BBQ sauce so be prepared to scrape some off or ask for it on the side. And sadly, we were not given our cornbread muffin! I won’t hold it against T-Dub and his staff since we got in late, but I still would’ve liked to try one. Still, when I think back on T-Dubs on Fridays, I can only think good things(and salivate a little) — and keep in mind I experienced everything lukewarm! I can’t imagine what it was like piping hot, but it can only be better. T-Dub, you da man.

The cool thing about eating at T-Dubs on Fridays is that you don’t even have to wait until Friday! Thanks to Luis C for the heads up I’ve been loving the food for the past two months. The area near the San Francisco Hall of Justice has been deprived of good barbecue for a very long time. Until T-Dubs came along we had to settle for the mediocre food from Nate’s BBQ several blocks away. It just wasn’t worth the trouble. I think I’ve tried much of the menu at T-Dubs now. His meats are very good. They’re lean and tender, and carved to order. The portions at T-Dubs are enormous. Heck, his Three Way Combos offer enough food for two complete meals, and I’m a big eater. Thomas and his staff are super friendly and their service aims to please. On my very first visit to T-Dubs nearly two months ago I ordered a Three Way Combo(3 meats + 2 sides & corn muffin) with Brisket, Chicken and Baby Back Ribs. One of the staff read my order wrong and gave me Hot Links( ) instead of ribs. When Thomas learned of this not only did he return the difference in price back to me, but he insisted on adding the Baby Back Ribs( ) to my order at no additional charge. The unexpected portion of meat lasted me three complete meals! On a return trip I had his Tri-Tip( ), and it was delicious. Unless you ask otherwise the meats are usually smothered in T-Dub’s sweet and tangy barbecue sauce. Today, just for the heck of it, I ordered a Two Way Combo with Chicken and Hot Links and sauce on the side( ). Thomas reads minds too because he kiddingly asked whether the flavor of his chicken without the sauce met my high expectations. It did, and in fact I devoured both of those huge chicken legs using very little sauce. Most of T-Dubs meat combos include your choice of two sides. The portion size on the two sides alone would make for a filling meal. One of my favorite sides is the Dirty Rice( ) which combines just enough dirt(ground meat bits) to make it delicious. The recipe for the Potato Salad( ) may have been tweaked a bit. I loved it the first time I had it, but it seems the last two times I’ve ordered it it’s taken on a slightly sweet flavor to it. The Macaroni and Cheese( ) was good, but I’d prefer it more if it were creamier and cheesier. I didn’t like the Shoestring Fries( ) which weren’t crispy enough and was over salted when I ordered it. I had the Candied Yams( ) for the first time today and loved it. I’m a big fan of dessert, but whenever I eat here I’m much too full to even think about dessert. On a previous visit Thomas mentioned he had both an apple pie and a pecan pie available but not on the menu. I ordered a slice of pecan pie and ultimately had to take most of it to-go because I was so full from the meal. The slice of pie resembled an entire quarter of the pie with just a little swirl of whipped cream on top( ) to make it stand out. The pie, served warm, was simply amazing with lots of crunchy pecans baked in. T-Dubs, you’ve got a big fan in me, and I’m glad you’re in the neighborhood. Thanks for the delicious food and excellent service!

People on jury duty at the 850 Bryant courthouse(and all those who work in the area) can now include southern BBQ to the limited number of dining choices. Really glad since a few nearby places closed recently. Chef Thomas W. took over the tiny space formerly occupied by Yellow Pa Taut. He’s very enthusiastic about his food, and the portions are enormous. Good enough for two people I think. On the menu: 5 appetizers($ 1.75-$ 7.95) wings, shoestring fries, onion rings, pork rib tips, & corn muffins; 5 sandwiches($ 5.95-$ 8.95), plus BBQ plates and combos($ 12.95-$ 36.95). In my opinion the best deal are the combo plates(#1−12), with 2-meats(«two-way»), 3-meats, or 4-meats. Every plate includes your choice of 2 side dishes and a corn bread muffin(with bits of jalapeño). Meats(braised & grilled): baby back ribs, tri-tip, beef short ribs, beef brisket, pork shoulder, chicken, and hot links. Sides($ 2.95-$ 4.95): dirty rice, candied yams, mac ‘n cheese, corn on the cob, shoestring fries, BBQ beans, collard greens, potato salad, and coleslaw. — Yes, it’s strange that fries are listed as both an appetizer and a side dish. Desserts: peach cobbler($ 6.95), sweet potato pie($ 4.95). Soft drinks($ 1.50-$ 1.75) are in a refrigerator to the left, individual prices posted above. Yesterday I got the combo #3, a «two-way» with baby back ribs and tri-tip(really tender and thinly sliced to order by chef Thomas). It’s not the best BBQ I’ve ever had, but I was a happy camper after eating my monster size meal. For sides I got the dirty rice(really nice, comparable to Popeye’s), and mac ‘n cheese(tastes good, but a little mushy). The meats are topped with your choice of 3BBQ sauces, and as much sauce as u want: heavy, medium or light. I got the original sauce, medium amount(next time I’ll ask for light on the sauce) — very sweet and tangy, not spicy at all. The space is clean, has a bathroom and plenty of tables to sit. Manage your expectations, it’s a simple place with food warmer trays. Ignore the tentative hours printed on the menu, it’s only open M-F 11am-9pm. Not much business at night, so hours could change in the future. **Update: dropped one star because quality has not been consistent.
