So much more than tacos even though I’d return just for them! Have you ever tried gorditas or tlayudas? I hadn’t until last night. They were both bombs according my entire part of 4, including one who is Mexican and knows her food. They have full dinners, too, from 4 different regions of Mexico and I can hardly wait to take a culinary tour of Mexico by trying them all. Let me not forget to mention the awesome muraled walls painted by the talented and«simpatico» couple who own this little gem and give their all to making your experience a memorable one. We asked Julia to recommend some favorite dishes and we were more than delighted with her selections and the inexpensive cost of it all.

Very good, however: San Francisco health regulations call for«all employees preparing, serving or handling food or utensils… [to] wear a hairnet, cap, or other suitable covering to confine hair» Follow the rules…

Pretty sucky seating area, service, and overall organization of the restaurant. It has an awesome location right on Castro that has so much potential but everyone walks right by. There is NOWAITSTAFF. you have to hunt down your own menu, find somewhere to hover and read it, and go wait in line again for someone to direct you to a seat that isn’t already taken. Once you decide, you have to wave your arms in the air for someone to notice and take your order. It might be a while of this, so get your friends to join and maybe they’ll notice 10 hands trying to flag someone down??? Literally such bad service that we left after not even being served water 15 min after sitting down.

Everything we enjoyed at Tacorgasmico was divine. the quesadilla was crispy on the outside, the guacamole was fresh, the horchata was delicious with just the right consistency. They were out of rum for rumchata and the owner was kind enough to give me a glass of horchata for free! Support local businesses and enjoy the hell out of this cute little slice of Mexican yummm

I don’t know how fun Tacorgasmica is on a random Thursday, but on cinco de mayo, it was absolutely raucous! Mexican ranchero porn played on the lonely corner TV; I like to think it was a VHS. Every table was occupied by two things: hipsters & alcohol.(Valencia Street called, it wants its hipsters back.) Our meal started out promising with munchable chips & guac, but went oh-so-wrong oh-so-fast, starting with their elotes which were smeared with what tasted like rank sour cream. The sopes were so tough & difficult to cut. My pollo pibil empanada was the only item I really enjoyed; a thin, flakey pocket filled with rich-tasting shredded chicken. No comments on my dining partner’s fish tacos or flautas, except that the side of black beans were disgustingly soupy. Dining out on Cinco de Mayo doesn’t guarantee good Mexican food, but I’m convinced that Tacorgasmica serves pretty mediocre eats everyday of the year.

Only been here once, but the margaritas are GREAT! My friend and I stopped by today while searching for margaritas near the heart of the Castro. This place popped up and we were really happy we found it. The décor and atmosphere are incredibly fun and trendy, staff was friendly, and drinks were great! Awesome spot to sit and people watch — especially on Bay to Breakers as all the wonderful weirdos head home :) ** Note to Gluten-free peeps ** The chips ARE gluten-free, but the margs and/or salsas are NOT. My friend got incredibly sick after we went here and it was really scary.

Loved the setting of this place! Had a nice flavorful décor and feeling about it! My friends and I ordered different versions of the burrito, which was pretty good! The burrito’s were not small, they were a good size! They gave a few different hot sauces to try with chips and your food, loved the red one(whatever it was). The green sauce was some kind of cucumber spicy sauce. We also ordered margaritas since it was Cinco de Mayo, they were delicious! All of the workers were kind and quick. There was an option for inside and outside seating, we sat outside because it was warm out. Throughly enjoyed this restaurant, would love to come back!

Coming through the front door, the first thing you notice about the place is the artwork encircling you. A very Hispanic feel. The service was fast, the staff extremely friendly, and the margaritas on point. The mission-style burrito is probably one of the main reasons I would go back, especially paired with some of their signature sauces. I definitely recommend. Will always visit this spot every time I come to San Francisco.

Ohhh I really like this place. Found it by accident between errands one Saturday, and I was so delighted. It’s tiny and intimate and the murals are super colorful and fun. We got the chicken soup, chips and salsa, and pork tacos. I’d definitely go back.

Legit! I’ve only been once but I thought it was actually better than lil chihuahua which we go to a lot because it is basically next door. We tried a sampler of tacos, a gordita, and a quesadilla. All really good, especially the quesadilla. The meat is really flavorful. Awesome margarita! I’m a marg snob, and I was skeptical given that they add grapefruit juice as well as lime. It was really well balanced between sweet and sour. I will be enjoying more of those very soon.

Amazing food!!! Fresh homemade tacos! Quesadilla was really good too! One of the best I ever tried! Lady on the cashier(maybe the owner?), was sooo nice! They didn’t go cheap on the ingredients at all! I’ll totally be back!

Nice food check. Tasty Margarita triple check! The location and atmosphere do a lot for this spot. It’s a nice place to enjoy a lunch. The food isn’t bad. I know that isn’t the best review of the food. But, the Margaritas are beyond wonderful. Tasty doesn’t do it justice. Go for the atmosphere and drinks!

Any place that can hook up non-greasy, tasty, legit Mexican comestibles, is my kinda joint. I’m veggie, and I feasted on their tacos. Soft corn tortillas, pinto beans, nopales, pickled onions, avocado, queso fresco, pico de gallo. Eff ya. The salsas were all tasty. My husband had a massive steak and shrimp quesadilla on wheat. He raved about it. As in wouldn’t stop. That means something in this house. Def going back. Def.

So I finally made it into this initially popular Castro taqueria where the hipsterati congregated in their retrograde outfits as they fingered their smartphones between bites of their guacamole-saturated nachos. It’s certainly a colorful place, although that name is rather overpromising in that overtly sexual way that makes me think some level of canality will be achieved by eating their carnitas. Was I wrong in that assumption? Well, yes, but the Mexican food here is certainly decent enough in that rustic, street-cart kind of way you would hope to find on an episode of «No Reservations» where Anthony Bourdain is eating with a hungry local. Jamie W. and I sauntered over early on a Friday evening only to see a couple of solo diners in there. The menu was more robust than I was expecting with unique regional dishes offered like Tlayudas from Oaxaca and Tortas Arogadas from Guadalajara. In fact, it states you can pick dishes by region or by taste to highlight their authenticity. I tried something I would have tried if I was in the Zona Rosas in Mexico City, the $ 5 Elotes, or grilled corn on the cob coated in crema Mexicana and queso fresco(photo: ). It appeared to be drizzled in some light chile sauce to cut into the saltiness, but it didn’t quite work for me as I was puckering my lips a lot. For my main dish, I tried one of their signature Platos Fuertes, the $ 12 Poc Chuc, a classic Yucatanean dish of which I was familiar due to a Mission restaurant called, get this, Poc-Chuc. As abundantly meaty as it was, the grilled and marinated pork was a bit on the dry side but it came with lots of sides: avocado slices, pickled onions, cabbage, black refried beans, Mexican rice, and best of all, handmade tortillas which came piping hot in their own foil(photo: ). I have to admit I liked the poc chuc better at Poc-Chuc, but it was a nice try anyway. Certainly not orgasm-inducing but I guess I could have moaned if they wanted me to. FOOD — 3 stars… for all they hype and the allegiance to regional Mexican cuisine, I was hoping for something a bit more satisfying AMBIANCE — 3.5 stars… a bit crowded in and somebody went crazy on the murals(photo: ) SERVICE — 3 stars… you order at the counter so what can I really say? TOTAL — 3 stars… didn’t fake an orgasm, guess I just lied there waiting for the earth to move

I walk by Tacorgasmico every week, and with a name like that, how could I not be curious to try their food at some point? My friend and I came here on a rainy evening, and the place was packed. I hate the layout of this restaurant because the aisles are extremely narrow, and it’s just claustrophobic. I get that the rented space is tiny so they want to cram as many people inside as possible. On the other hand, one COULD say that it’s cozy. I tried their carne asada quesadilla and was pretty disappointed, but I think I’m just not a fan of their flavor combinations. The quesadilla tasted sweet(if my taste buds were functioning properly that night) and all the ingredients blended together. I also had a taste of their ceviche, but it was bland. Their tortilla chips were pretty good, though. Overall I thought the food was not orgasmic at all. I will say that their menu is extensive, but you really need to have an acquired taste for what they serve here.

The name is silly but the food is seriously good. I know, I’m awful and probably the 15th person to use that line. Sorry, they can’t all be winners. The truth is this is some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had in San Francisco, and I think I’ve come pretty close to trying all the Mexican places in the mission. Surprisingly authentic, with colorful and tasty food. There are the standard options, like burritos, tacos and chips with guacamole, but I would recommend diving in to some of the more exotic fare that you won’t find at most Mexican restaurants. They have a video playing next to the counter with pictures of the food, so you can see what it looks like if you haven’t tried it before. The meat was excellent, the Carne Asada in particular was great. Highly recommended.

Here we go again. If you insist on slipping descriptors into the name of your restaurant I insist on remarking upon them. In this case I’d have preferred they just called the place«Simple Mexican Pleasures» as it says on their awning. They didn’t. What can I say? I believe there’s such a thing as orgasmic Mexican fare but this? This is not that. A Tostada de Ceviche($ 7 and made from shrimp) sat atop a crisp corn tortilla, a slice of juiceless lime beside it. It wasn’t one of the more remarkable ceviches I’ve sampled but it was fine nonetheless. A Panucho($ 5) and a Carne Asada Taco($ 4) inspired much the same response. The large menu looks interesting(if excessively busy) though, having sampled a little from it, I’d be unlikely to delve much deeper. The flavors failed to inspire a desire to spend more or to go on a tasting expedition. Where this place wins is in the décor. It’s colorful and fun, with good music playing in the background. It inspires one to a) want to go inside and b) want to hang with friends over a drink or two(beer and wine only, though the menu includes cocktails made from these). And, since you can enjoy some reasonably priced Mexican street fare while doing so, I’m willing to forgive a bit on the flavors. Chips are provided gratis and there’s three good, fresh salsas yours for the taking. Tacorgasmico isn’t a destination spot but, with its location not far from the Castro Theater, its a convenient spot for pre or post show drinks and nibbles. Sometimes that’s all that you’re looking for and when it is, this’ll do.

Totally came in based on the name. The décor in here is cute and vibrant! Ordered two tacos to share, and it came with a side of complimentary chips. Cochinita pibil was tender and the chorizo/egg/potato was good, however had a particular seafood taste and little chorizo taste. The tacos are a bit bigger than street tacos, and the tortillas did not hold up well to eat with your hands. In fact, you could say that tacos orgasmed all over in my hand, however not in my mouth.

I’m not sure who to compare this place to… Because that matters. I’m settling on three stars because the field is so wide open in SF when it comes to Mexican food. On one hand, there’s not as much as I had in SoCal. I’ve lived in San Diego and Los Angeles and the Mexican food there was nor plentiful, better, and cheaper. THAT said, there are definitely a bunch of the best places in the city, in the Mission District. THAT said, the Mission is becoming so obnoxiously gentrified that the old-school taquerias are now filled with white people in $ 500 v-necks staring at their iPhones, and not really an authentic experience even if the food is good. Also, while not comparing apples to apples, San Francisco has the Señor Sisig food truck with Filipino-Mexican fusion burritos and tacos that blow it all away. THAT said, in the Castro it’s this place or Tacos Club across the street plus a few mediocre options on Castro Street… so by comparison… this one is… better. Cleaner. Bigger menu. Nicer vibe. Three stars because I’m too conflicted and sort of have to default to «okay»… Wasn’t blown away, liked it though, but it’s no Señor Sisig.
