Does anyone know how to get in touch with the owner of this establishment? I wanted to ask him a question regarding a mutual friend. MIchael Acosta(friend of Brooks Wright)

Brunch is my favorite week time past time. When else do you get to eat breakfast food at 12pm and lounge around and have a 2 hour lunch with friends? Tangerine is a great place to catch up with friends, recovery classily with friends on a Sunday morning! I am so so sad to see that this place has closed down :’(I hope it comes back. I’ll miss you french toast and eggs benedict!

My husband, my twin babies and I came for the dinner service. We had the Dungeness Crab Cakes and the Corriander Beef Ribs as appetizers. They were so good that my husband actually ordered seconds. My twin babies just demolished the crab cakes and that day I found out that they either love crab cakes or those crab cakes are just too delicious for them to pass. For Entrée, my husband ordered Pineapple Duck and I ordered their special of the day, which was Crispy Sea Bass over rice served with Bok Choy. I didn’t think that the portion would be that generous nor if the plating would be nice. I also thought I wouldn’t be able to finish the whole thing. Our food was so well made that I couldn’t put my fork down. The duck was so tender and the crispy rice cakes served with it was amazing. My Sea Bass was on point, I opted the regular rice with red rice, the peppery sauce that came with it along with the Bok Choy just blended so well on my taste bud. My husband worked as Chef De Partie at Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant in New York before we moved to SF and he said«I wouldn’t change a thing, everything was excellent». Enough said… Tangerine is highly recommended.

Tangerine offers a taste that blends Californian and Pan Pacific flavors. I’ve been here for brunch countless number of times and had dinner there twice. Their brunch menu offers unique entrees such as Zucchini/Potato Latke with poached eggs, Mac and Corn pancakes with egg, oyster mushroom, Baked Eggs with latkes, caramelized onions, gruyère cheese, and much more. Their almond french toast is super tasty. If I’m with a group of at least three or more people then we usually order this and share this as a dessert. I’ve never had a bad experience and the taste and quality are consistent. The two times I had dinner at Tangerine proved to be delightful to the palate as well. I had fish(forgot what kind… maybe sea bass?) with black bean sauce the first time and ribs the second. Both were super delicious! I would definitely come back here at night to explore their dinner offerings more. Great and convenient location on the cusp of Mission/Market and Castro. Cozy atmostphere. All in all a nice place to eat.

Came here the other day while trying to find a brunch place part way between my old home in the Mission(where my brunch mate still lives) and my new home in NOPA. Castro/Market seemed the best choice, so turned to Unilocal for suggestions. This place had great reviews, so we decided to check it out. Being prime brunch time, I was afraid we would have to wait, especially since they allow reservations through Open Table. Fortunately we were seated right away. The place is not too small and it was moderately full. I ordered an omelet with corn, leeks and brie cheese; my friend got one with crab meat, gruyère cheese and guacamole. Both were tasty and interesting combos, though the eggs were almost too fluffy. They were served with roasted potatoes(4 small pieces) and organic greens(approximately 6 leaves) — this was the only disappointing part of the meal. I like my greens and would have liked a few more. 3 stars and not 4 for service. Mad props to our busser. He was consistently present and filling our glasses, asking if we were okay. He took our orders for tea and coffee because our server was non-existant. I initially thought the busser was our server because he was the only one who approached our table in the first 20 mins we were seated. It was only after we tried to order our food through him that he said«let me get your server». And even after that, we only saw our server again at the end to give us our check. I certainly hope they split the tips fairly, because there seemed to be only one person working that day.

Our server, an adorably enthusiastic and bubbly Asian male, was so sweet to us our entire meal. The food all satisfied me, though overall each dish probably tried a little harder to look more fantastic than it tasted. The place was pretty quiet on our 5pm Sunday dinner so maybe that accounts for the almost undivided attention, but that doesn’t change the fact that was had a good meal. * Crispy Soft Shell Crab — 3.5 stars (tempura soft shell crab served with sweet baked yams. $ 12) Good with a lightly crisped tempura. All agreed the best part was the yams though. * Spicy Corn Fritters — 4 stars (fried sweet corn, red curry and rice flour served with sweet & sour sauce. $ 8) Fave dish of the night. For me, the sweet and sour sauce was a little to Americanized-Asian. But each corn kernel was fried just right with a crisp and had a good spicy flavor. * Baked Pistachio New Zealand Lamb Racks — 3.5 stars (Baked New Zealand lamb chops encrusted with herbs, honey and pistachio nuts served with roasted bell pepper & onion sauce and grilled vegetables. $ 22.95) The lamb was pretty succulent and a nice pink medium-rare. The rice & veggies were satisfying, like a simple homecooked dish, but I feel a little subpar for what should be restaurant quality side. * Pineapple Duck — 4 stars (Seared marinated Duck Breast in dark beer and coffee served with pineapple red curry sauce and crispy rice cake. $ 17.95) Duck was juicy and nice. Skin could have been crisped more for added texture. But the curry was really great, and the rice cake really good too(texture-wise. Had zero flavor, but once you eat it w/the curry it’s fantastic).

What started out as brunch plans at Lime, ended up at the better citrus-named brunch place — Tangerine! Brunch is my favorite meal of the day and I review each brunch establishment with scrutiny. With that in mind, let me tell you that the options at Tangerine are absolutely delightful. Our brunch group had no problem diving into the menu and being overwhelmed with yummy options. We ordered: — smoked salmon benedict — potato latke with smoked salmon — almond french toast — my dish and one of the best french toasts that I’ve had. Second to Rick & Ann’s in Berkeley — blue crab omelet — farmer’s omelet — mimosas to share(a must) All of these dishes, from the sweet to the savory, were wonderfully executed with balanced, exciting flavors, satisfying portions, and… beautiful plating! I was so impressed with how pretty our brunch spread looked that I should have taken a picture. To top it off, no wait on a Sunday morning and indoor and outdoor seating! We ate inside and the atmosphere was just as warm and homely. I would recommend Tangerine for groups and even 1:1 dates. They are perfectly accommodating. :)

I’ve wanted to try this place for years but usually opted for other nearby options(hello, Ike’s was down the street). This time we decided to head there for brunch and it was delicious. I ordered the mac and cheese with corn. It was a touch bland(nothing a little pepper wouldn’t cure) but I loved the surprising addition of crunchy sweet corn kernels. Fresh squeezed orange juice was very refreshing. I ordered a side of bacon because I wanted to get some protein and ended up not being able to finish everything — the portions were generous.

Sunday brunch! I was expecting a nightmare getting a table somewhere especially at 10am and right after the bay to breakers race. The first place we went to had a long wait. I decided to call this place because I noticed it the day before and my cousin thought it looked like a good spot to eat as well. Luckily they said no wait so we headed there with my brother. I decided to eat the baked eggs. It was pretty good. What I should’ve ordered was what my brother ordered. Luckily he was starving and ordered two items so he gave me some. The almond french toast was to die for! It tasted so good! They have friendly staff and no wait on a sunday which is amazing. Great spot to try if you are in the area.

A nice quaint breakfast place located next to the long line of Ike’s. The large windows allow copious lighting and there’s even paintings of tangerines hung up on the walls. I can only speak for the brunch food, which supposedly is 10% off on weekdays, but I dont think they upheld that when I dined there for some reason. Almond French Toast: This is one of the most delectable, fluffy toasts I have eaten. The bread is very flakey and croissant-like in texture which is the best suited for the fried goodness of french toast, in my opinion. The sauteed bananas, strawberries, and cinnamon sugar made the french toast far from ordinary. Zucchini Latke: This was a let-down. The poached eggs were decent and the bacon we opted to get instead of salmon was generous in helping, but the zucchini latke itself was ghastly — a round of shredded cucumbers meshed together which fell apart at the touch of a fork. I tasted no latkes, just bland cucumber. Baked Eggs: I thought this was an inspired dish. Baked eggs are less common in brunch places and I thought this place did it justice. It came with gruyère cheese, tomato, broccoli, onion, sausage, and potato latkes in plural although we only got one piece of latke. From what I could tell, it was infinitely better than the zucchini latke. Mango Margarita: looked delicious and was a sweet, refreshing dose of slushy goodness. It certainly wasn’t very strong though I could taste the plum wine used but not so much the sake.

We came for dinner to use an OpenTable voucher. I wish I came for brunch. Some friends and I would come for happy hour years ago and loved it. Years ago like 2004. 8 years later, its definitely not the same. Service was rude and the various starter dishes we ordered tasted pre-made and not fresh in quality. We had: Short Ribs — too salty for me Roasted Duck Spring Rolls — soggy fried mess Fried Calamari — breading that fell off the rubbery, not chewy calamari Ahi Tuna Stacks — saucy tacos that fell apart The bread and butter served before our meal was the best part! I would give Tangerine a higher rating if the waitress was nicer. You expect friendly service at fancy, uppity asian fusion spots like this! At least ask if we enjoyed our meal. It’s a huge indicator we were not pleased by the full plates of food and declining a to-go box to take the leftovers home.

Came here for Sunday lunch/brunch. The place was packed and busy on Sunday. We were lucky and was able to be seated at the bar. Which was very good, since we didn’t have to wait long to be seated. Famished, I ordered the shrimp omelet. My partner, the potato latkes. When our food came, the wrong dish was presented to me. But due to the time constraint I was with and the roaring of my empty stomach, I said«screw it». I ate the farmers omelet. Sausage and bacon with eggs and caramelized onions. The taste was good, but that was probably due to me being hungry. Nothing really stood outstanding. i just ate everything. The coffee was okay. Not blue bottle, but it did its job. Service was quick, though I did have to ask for coffee refill several times. This is probably not a fair review and would need to be revisited again.

I always pass by this place on my way to my weekend job so I thought I’d be nice to take the dive and try it out. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and man was it crowded. Service was pretty quick though. Even though it was a full house and there was a line waiting, we managed to grab some seats at the bar, order, get our meal and leave all within about 40 minutes. Their grapefruit juice is really good; I tasted freshly squeezed. For my entrée I had the potato latkes with poached eggs and smoked salmon. The serving looked small but its quite heavy so it really fills you up. It was quite tasty. One good thing about sitting at the bar is the servers gave us food that was mis-ordered. We scored 2 free side salads, which I guess the kitchen made by mistake. Another plus — the host is really cute with a cute matching French accent. ;)

Quick! Do a Sunday brunch write-up for Tangerine before you forget again! I’m usually asleep within two minutes of my head hitting the pillow, but in those two minutes, I make my To Do List. Admittedly, that list often involves past due reviews. Years ago(3 years? 5 years? who knows, the time just flies by), BFF& I joined some folks at Tangerine for Sunday brunch. I have no idea what I ate or if I even liked it. Last Sunday, we decided to give Tangerine a second chance. I snapped a pic & made a conscious effort to remember details, for the sake of Unilocal because Unilocaling is a priority. At 10:45, we were seated immediately. By the time we left, the wait list was long. Moral of the story: the early bird gets the brunch without having to freeze her eggs off in the cold. BFF had a chai tea & a blue crab omelette, which I tried a forkful of. Very fresh-tasting, generous amount of crab. I had an earl grey tea & the baked eggs. In a ramekin were nicely-baked, fluffy eggs with cheese, tomato, broccoli & potato latke(which provided a hearty laugh, as yes, BFF& I have an inside joke about potato latkes.) Three-stars, meaning it was a-ok, but I wouldnt rush back. Review officially crossed off the To Do List. Now I can sleep soundly knowing that’s done. Only 28 tasks left(this week.)

The dinner menu is pretty extensive. We tried quite a bit of food as we normally do when dining at a restaurant for the first time. In addition to the crab cakes and Thai beef salad, I also ordered the Coriander Beef Short Ribs with Fettucine Pasta 16.95 (Slow-cooked boneless short ribs in coriander-onion sauce, stir fried with Fettuccine pasta, Asparagus and bell pepper) It was excellent. Not sure why this dish would be considered an Asian fusion creation – but it worked for me! The restaurant is mellow and people were able to carry on a conversation without yelling across the table. It was one of the quietest SF restaurants I’ve ever been to. Service was great. Very sweet people there!

I would give it a 4, except for service(3.5). First off, I really like Corn. I think it’s an Asian person thing. McDonalds in Asia offers a side of corn instead of fries as an option. Pizza also frequently comes with corn topping. That’s why I got so excited on seeing the brunch menu. Corn & macaroni pancakes and corn omelets! Sadly, the pancakes(my choice) were pretty good, but got very heavy to eat at the end. They aren’t pancakes so much as they are a flat mix of macaroni with corn and some cheese. The corn omelet was much better. The mimosa was definitely not worth it(tiny little flute) and the service was a bit slow. I might come again though, I liked the creativity in the menu.

Tangerine is a cute little neighborhood brunch spot. The place itself is on the smaller side but it has a very calming and welcoming environment. Luckily for us, we got a table by the window and it was a great spot for some people watching. Everything on the brunch menu sounded good, but we finally settled on the eggs florentine and the potato latke with bacon. The eggs florentine were two poached eggs on top of spinach and toasted wheat bread. It was SO delicious! The side of potatoes perfectly complimented everything and I was a pretty happy camper. My boyfriend really enjoyed his potato latke with poached eggs — they were gone within seconds. I would definitely come back here :) such a cute spot to grab some breakfast!

This place was a bit of a disappointment. I’m really surprised by all of the reviews that said ‘service was great.’ Umm, unless you consider being ignored for 20 minutes and then having to wait almost an entire hour for your food to arrive, ‘great service’, then by all means, the service was fantastic. My friends and I decided to eat here once we saw the line at Ike’s. :(But considering how slow the service was, we might as well have just stayed in line over there. We probably would have gotten our food quicker. The menu looked promising, and I liked their little outdoor seating area. Service was friendly(ish), just moved at a glacial pace. I ordered the salmon potato latkes, which was basically an eggs benedict on a latke. It was pretty good, except the latkes themselves were not very impressive. Then again, I have somewhat high standards when it comes to latkes. And eggs benedicts, for that matter. To be honest I don’t really remember what my friends ordered. I just remember all of us saying that it was all«alright» and«not bad», just not really worth the wait. Maybe we just came on an off day. All in all, I doubt I’ll ever be back, but at least they opened up my eyes to the idea of making eggs benedict on a latke. And for that, I am very greatful. Thanks Tangerine. :]

This review is for dinner service only, I’ve never tried the brunch menu. Finding parking is VERY difficult in this area. Ike’s Place is on the next block. It’s been a few years since I last dined here, sometimes the food was good and other times it’s been average. I decided to drop by last week, and I’m so glad that I did because it was the best meal I had all week. This is not a high end place, so don’t judge it as such. It’s just a neighborhood restaurant that tries to provide a very pleasant meal experience. They have several weekday offers: Monday — 2 for 1 drinks; Tuesday — 20% off; Wednesday — free glass of Coppola wine; and Thursday — a $ 9.95 thrifty night special(the same every night). Service is very attentive and eager to please. But that night it was a little understaffed(the owner as waiter, and one assistant) for the number of tables inside, so expect to wait a bit. Therefore, it’s a good idea to come with friends that you’d like to chat with. After placing our order, the assistant brought a nice basket of warm bread served with 3 different types of butter(regular, herb, and chili) in piped florets. The asparagus and crab meat soup starter was just okay, a little heavy on the black pepper but with lots of crab meat. Green Papaya has a better version but doesn’t put as much crab meat as the one here. I got the special that night, fried snapper with mango salsa. The presentation was average, but the fish fillet was scrumptious — perfectly cooked and steaming hot when I cut into it. That one dish was outstanding! For dessert there was a chocolate mousse, and something else I don’t remember. But I decided to pass because it was late and I needed to wake up early the next day. Overall, it was a very good meal. Update: After several followup visits I have to say that, in the past there was more food creativity and unique nightly specials. For example one night long ago, the chef experimented with a fried avocado with filling, never seen that before. Nowadays hardly anything ever changes on the menu. It’s still a pleasant neighborhood restaurant for those who live in this area.
