The Teaway Express regular milk tea is only .99 while the regular Teaway ones are 1.99. The regular Teaway also has more gelatin crap to put in your drink that I don’t care for. The place feels dirty, but a .99 milk tea will do on a day I’m craving for milk tea and in the neighborhood.

You’re probably wondering how Teaway Express differs from the Teaway on the same block. Both locations have Asian drinks($ 1.99) and up with the self-serve add in bar(with tapioca pearls, jellies, pudding, etc.). Teaway has fried savory snacks(popcorn chicken is the best) and doesn’t have crepes. Teaway Express has custom crepes($ 2.99) and no fried snacks. Both places are tiny. Crêpe customization is easy since there aren’t that many choices and the helpful sign breaks it down for you. Each crêpe comes with whipped cream and syrup. * Pick crêpe flavor(original, green tea, chocolate, strawberry) — what a great idea to have flavored batter * Pick a spread(Nutella, peanut butter, red bean, strawberry jam) * Choose fresh fruit(strawberry, banana, kiwi, pineapple) * Add ice cream — vanilla or chocolate(+ 99 cents) — too bad they don’t have green tea, red bean, and black sesame… or even their gelato and fro-yo as a premium option I noticed one savory crêpe on the menu, mozzarella cheese crêpe but didn’t see any add ons that would work in a savory crêpe. I’m also curious about the picture of Japanese curry on the menu. * Strawberry flavored crêpe with fresh strawberries, red bean, whipped cream and chocolate syrup. I liked the batter recipe, the edges were crispy but not too brittle, the interior of the crêpe was slightly chewy. It wasn’t spongy and the crêpe didn’t get soggy. It reminded me of the flavor of fortune cookies(which I like). The strawberry flavor in the crêpe batter isn’t strong but it adds a pleasant sweetness and a pretty pink color. The ingredients aren’t gourmet or homemade but you are getting a fast, cheap, tasty handheld treat. The person who expertly swirls my fro-yo also makes mean Japanese style crepes. Yes, the founder of Tuttimelon/Teaway was skillfully making crepes on the electric crêpe maker. I need to figure out how to get fro-yo in my crêpe. Don’t forget to get your Teaway card stamped. Parking is the hardest to find during the day(especially weekends) but the line is shorter… parking is easy late at night after the shops have closed but the line is longer. Cash only.
