Visiting The Fillmore’s Jazz district makes you wanna skeeby deeby dibby dabby dat dat ba dat dat deee doo bap dow boo bap… Or perhaps even ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang walla walla bing bang, ooh eeh ooh ahah, ting tang walla walla bang bang. Wait… huh? Either way, you can enjoy multiple venues offering live jazz music to get you into that rhythmic diddn ditn diddit doo bee daa mood. Rich in jazz performance culture, The Fillmo’ District drew in the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, and many other legendary artists. With places like Yoshi’s, Boom Boom Room, The Fillmore, and even the Fillmore Farmer’s Market, there’s plenty of jazz music to keep you entertained and feeling like a smooove Daddy-O. Uh huh, nothing better than good ol’ live music! With plenty of shops and restaurants lined throughout the streets of Fillmore, there’s a lot of great places to discover.

The neighborhood is like the version of Harlem but set in SF. Growing atmosphere of Jazz and blues, live entertainment, bold richness of culture between Japanese, African-American, Jewish, and other mixes. Fillmore district created its own personality. You can find other places that are colorful and vibrant but there’s nothing like it when you are looking for great theatrical acts or theaters and music booming throughout the streets of SF. Tons of great artists have stepped foot at The Fillmore Auditorium, Bill Graham Center, Yoshi’s, Boom Boom Room, etc. The eclectic crowds have been drawn into the Fillmore, coming from anywhere in the world. The area is home to music and theatre-like lovers who can’t get enough of what it has to offer. Preserving the love of music and theater, they offered to bring life into the Fillmore district by creating The Fillmore Heritage Center featuring an array of local talents in SF. If I’m not found elsewhere in SF, more than likely I’m enjoying the Fillmore District listening or watching the next celebrity«STAR!»

I really dig this neighborhood. I see this becoming one of the new«it» districts to be in. Great restaurants and bars opening up with staples such as The Fillmore, Boom Boom Room, and Yoshi’s. An unpretentious neighborhood that has a very diverse community. I’m glad to be a resident!
