Perfect casual restaurant to grab a bite of some fresh and tasty foods before watching a symphony or show. The workers are friendly and efficient so the food is delivered promptly even with a crowd. Menu offered quite a variety of homemade items that ranged from soups, sandwiches, salads and hot entrees. I ordered the popular chicken pot pie and my friend had the hot dog platter with a side of salad. Both of us were satisfied with our meals and look forward to coming back again.

This is the best ski lodge in the city! Exceptional service by jasmine! Order the bacon wrapped dates and the quesadilla.

Pretty good breakfast food for the city, I LOVE their hashbrowns. The rest of the scramble is pretty good and the toast is SF toast(which means it’s brilliant). Overpriced in my opinion but it’s SF so what isn’t. Good spot to grab a quick bite and breakfast is on all day.

Very bad service and the grilled cheese sandwich is small. Don’t make me start on the salad which didn’t have any dressing and has no taste.

The ingredients are always fresh, the servings are good portions and the food is always tasty. The shared tables make it an easy place for large groups in a district where space is hard to come by. I definitely recommend it for a quick bite before or after a show.

Good for groups, as everyone can just pay at the counter and get food delivered to their table. Hefty sized sandwiches and tasty beers on tap!

I eat here all the time, the food is well prepared and consistent. The staff can be a bit preoccupied in the evenings but the mornings seem to be run like a military ship. Give it a shot if you are in the area. My favorite selection would be the open-faced chicken salad sandwich.

I’m obsessed with this place. Made our trip!!! I highly recommend it for breakfast lunch or a late night snack and they have beer on tap. And the service is sooo good!!! Definitely recommend it.

After walking way too much a few days ago I was hungry for a meal that was light but also filling. The unique style of The Grove made me very happy that I chose to pause my journey and rest my feet here. Firstly, the host gave me a menu and let me know to order at the counter. I ordered the vegetarian chili, a side salad, and I just HAD to order an ice cream sandwich. They said they would bring out the dessert after I was finished eating so that it wouldn’t melt. The food was good and tasted quite fresh. I would have liked more interest in the salad aside from simple greens, but that wasn’t the standout part of the meal anyway. The seating was cool — a mixture of couches, stools, and window seats. My table was shaky, but they immediately fixed it. I liked that the staff was very on-top-of things here. So yeah, the chili was fine and the crusty bread that came with it was a great addition. Blah blah blah soup and salad. The slightly warmed chocolate chip cookie sandwich with vanilla ice cream in the middle was the star of the show. I could tell that the kid at the table next to me was super jealous that I was eating this and he was right to feel this way! If you find yourself ready to stop sightseeing for a treat, or need a pick-me-up after a long day at work, go get this dessert. Mmmm-mm.

I live in the neighborhood & eat here because it’s one of the only places in Hayes Valley to get a simple lunch or dinner & take out. It’s unfortunate that a basic salad or sandwich costs $ 12+ now in SF. If you want chicken on your salad, it’s a $ 15 salad. I ate here last night & ordered the Berkeley Bowl Salad & bowl of Vegetarian Chili. I asked for the salad to be tossed. When they served the food, the salad was not tossed and the Chili was served COLD, hardly any beans and contained mostly diced tomatoes & lots of cumin. When I asked for the chili to be reheated the cook & manager approached me at the counter, questioned me & rolled their eyes at me. The Grove needs to focus on the details. And their kitchen staff needs to read their tickets. Hot food should be served hot, get it right people. Do Not Order: Lasagna(looks frozen) Quesadilla(so basic you can make this at home) Bruschetta(looks good but loaded w/fresh garlic) Side Salad(tiny & over priced) Wines are overpriced & they give you a tiny pour

If you wanna throw money away, go here. $ 5 apple cider — ehh. Give me a microwave and some apple juice and I can make the same thing $ 10 artichoke dip — decent… but dip and bread? $ 10 nacho — wtf??? unevenly sliced onions. Slices of avocado instead of guacamole. What looks like microwaved cheese…

Chicken pot pie heaven. Nuff said. To be honest I walk past this place on my way to my fav lil wine bar and always thought hmmm. So when needing a quick bite to eat before barting out to the east bay I popped in. Seriously chicken pot pie heaven. and by heaven I mean mouth orgasm. HUGE chunks of chicken, creamy sauce, fluffy melt in your mouth fresh baked cookies and a totally great décor/ambiance. I also had the chance to stop by again and have the breakfast burrito(added apple sausage) and its HUGE as well. Def a place to go if you have an appetite and the dishes are easily shareable. on a plus too the place is incredibly clean and the staff is friendly and attentive for a seat yourself kind of place.

This place was a little pricey for what we ordered. My boyfriend got the chicken pot pie which was recommended by the counter clerk. I got the Asian chicken salad. We paid $ 25 for both of them. It was good, but not that good. The pot pie could have had more content. It looks large, but the breading was a thin layer over the top of a small filling. Not to toot my own horn, but I think my homemade chicken pot pie tastes better. My salad was good, but it tasted like an Asian chicken salad you could get anywhere. Overall, nothing too special. If I ever come back, I’ll be sure to save some room for cake or a cookie. Those looked delicious! I do like the ambiance of this place. The are so many different seating options and everyone was so nice. There was a huge line because we went on Pride Day, but the line went quickly and we got our food in a reasonable amount of time.

Finding this little gem after an evening with my buddy and his siblings, The Grove offers several food choices from soups and salads to «comfort» style foods like nachos and pot pies. I ordered the steak quesodilla and a PBR, which they were all out of, so I ended up with Chimas, which was very hoppy and delicious after a long work day. The price was a bit high, 22 dollars,(which is why I wanted a PBR at $ 4.25 versus this 12 oz for 8 bucks! Food was delicious, in fact I am eating my leftovers while my co-worker kitty observes. The seating looked a bit rough, especially for ladies because most of the wooden chairs had no pillows unless you sat on a bench seat. Our table was crooked and very wobbly making cutting up food difficult. Over all I give 4⁄5 stars because I will go back!

We came here for lunch this past weekend as we were in the area and had gone to a Grove restaurant at another location and enjoyed our food immensely. It’s a bit pricey for lunch if you include drinks($ 40 for two of us?!) but the food is delicious and definitely worth checking out. We both ordered the grilled cheese and I added the vegetarian chili with mine. Despite it being lunchtime on the weekend, the restaurant wasn’t too busy and our food came out fast. I’d happily go back for their food any day, but would recommend the tomato soup over the chili personally.

This place. Oh my goodness. This place. This place is fantastic. I love everything about it. The vibe. The décor. The menu. THESMELL. Went here for breakfast with some friends. Had fresh squeezed orange juice, a smoothie, and a breakfast burrito. Amazing. If I could give this place more stars, I definitely would!

Wow this place is incredible! Massively tall ceilings, and rich dark wood run all the way up to the top. This place feels so comfy, but romantic all at the same time. We stopped by for lunch here yesterday and I had no idea what to expect. There was a bussiling crowd and no where to sit so I thought this place must be doing something right. I was going to go for the grilled cheese until I saw this crazy huge buttery pot pie slide through the window up front, I ask the girl at the counter, WHAT is that? Of course already knowing what it was, I just had to hear it from her. «Why it’s our chicken pot pie of course, made fresh daily and sealed with a fresh pastry crust with a hint of oregano.» Holy mother, I’m in. The pot pie was just as good as it looked. Flaky buttery, amazing crust that when you poked open a steam shoot of flavor came whistling out of the top like a choo choo train! The chicken was huge chunks of fresh chicken, not those frozen perfect weird little squares. Then I got the Arnold Palmer which I am a huge fan of so I know a good one when I see it. This was the BEST one I have ever tasted. They have a juicer right up front where you can actually see the fruit going in and coming right out into your order. That plus the richness of the quality tea was like heaven in a pilsner glass? Yeah weird, and huge, but so delicious! If I lived near here I would be 2 million pounds. Let’s end with when in doubt, The Grove should be in route.
