Good food for pretty cheap! We got a Desayuno Salvadoreno and a Carnitas Quesadilla to go. The servers weren’t very friendly, but our order came out quickly. The dishes were both really good, and the type of takeaway container they use is awesome for this type of food. With lots of segments for the different side dishes, nothing got mushed together and it was easy to eat. Would definitely come again!

Loved the place from the very first bite of my burrito! I’m always making changes to my burrito every time I go in(couple of my different requests: salsa on the side, no tortilla, no sour cream, extra guacamole.) The ladies taking the orders are always so nice about it. And the cooks always get my order correct. I usually order a steak burrito and the price isn’t to bad considering that we live in a city with some of the highest rent prices in the country. Plus, I’ve been to another Mexican restaurant in the area where the burrito is $ 4 more for the same ingredients.

Their food is really just OK. There’re some interesting stuff on the menu as others have indicated. But they have the lousiest customer service. You can get better stuff from a food truck with much friendlier price and attitude. I would only go there because it’s the only choice in the neighborhood.

Food is amazing and Julia gives such great customer service. It was very busy but she took the time to take our order and pay attention to us. If you are in the area… This place is highly recommended!

I really liked this place. Came in with a rowdy group after a little crawl that ended at Third Rail. Food was really delicious, even compared to my San Diegan roots. The service was warm. Everything from the tacos to the pupusas were yummy. Also, they have good beers to compliment the food. The décor makes me laugh, but kind of goes with their whole vibe. Note: If you hit this place around dinner time, there will be people trying to enjoy date night or an even with the fam, probably not the best place to sober up from a Sunday Funday. Fortunately everyone took our group in stride and we still got great service.

Torta was very weak, especially for the price. $ 9 for an untoasted white bread hotdog bun with ONETINYPIECE of chile verde pork on it. Literally one bite on the entire sandwich.

Ok, I really want to like this place and give it a good review because I live close, but this burrito is kind of subpar and the chips and salsa were the worst I’ve ever had. If you’re going to give away chips and salsa to every customer, make sure they’re delicious so the customers have a good experience. The«salsa» was like spicy brown water… The most boring«salsa» I’ve ever had. The staff was pleasant and I hate giving bad reviews. If the staff wasn’t nice, this would be a 1 or 2 star review.

One of the most underrated burrito places in San Francisco. Maybe it’s the location? The fact that it’s not right in the middle of the Mission? One doesn’t immediately think of Mexican food when in the Dogpatch. In addition to burritos, I highly recommend The New Spot’s quesadilla, aka the most white bread menu item one could possibly order from a Mexican restaurant. I was expecting something small and flimsy, a la Taco Bell, but no way. This quesadilla was huge, chock full of freshly grilled chicken, a generous portion of guac and large scoop of sour cream. This was the most filling quesadilla I’ve ever had. The ladies behind New Spots’ counter are always very, very nice. Even with the demanding clientele(usually yuppies and tech bros getting off at 3rd and 20th). Tip those ladies and say thank you. Those who do usually get an extra side of chips for being gracious.

Got a super burrito for take out. The food is pretty good and the meat tasted fresh. But my burrito was super cold in the middle. Had to literally take it home and microwave it for a minute and a half. Wtf? The burrito was good though, so I’ll up the stars if it’s not cold next time. Update: got another super carnitas burrito. And… it was cold again! In the middle! Had to microwave it again! Big wtf. This is a crisis. Really wanted to come here and increase my rating but I can’t do it. Update 2: alright gave this another shot and got a different super burrito: pastor. Man. the burrito itself was awesome, one of the best pastor I’ve had. But still frozen cold in the middle. Had to microwave it. I desperately want to bump this review score but I can’t. Update 3: Yep, literally always cold. Really annoying. Going to stop giving this place more tries. It really sucks having to microwave a burrito because then it gets all soggy and gross.

I love this place. I have never had a bad meal from here. However, I did just watch a homeless man straight up drink salt from a table, after I asked for them to manage him, due to his encroaching on our table. I am sensitive to our homeless community, but I am also sensitive to smells. And not showering for multiple days and sitting next to me after giving him the cash I had was not cool. They automatically tip, which I respect, but I won’t be coming back again, sadly. Food is good, but make priorities. The sushi place around the corner is a much better dinner place based on how they treat their paying customers.

When I came back to SF last year, I became obsessed with TNS’s chicken enchiladas. Never before chicken so perfectly cooked and shredded or dynamically spiced. Here was the perfect rice, never over or under cooked. The perfect guacamole, not so creamy you feel like you’re eating 800 avocados straight — not so thin, you wonder if it’s some kind of avocado salsa. I ate food from The New Spot for about six weeks straight. Then one day someone else must have been cooking. Quality slipped a little. And my magical«return to SF» addiction spell was broken. This food is still damn good though. An acceptable offering to the hunger goddess!

Authentic Authentic Authentic! This is my new spot. I headed down to the dog patch area for brew fest and we stumbled upon this place and boy were we surprised! I had the chicken burrito with refried beans and the steak nachos on the side. Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend this place and I will be back! Great environment too!

Ordered their nachos for take-out to eat at a nearby brewery. Their carne asada nachos were bomb dot com. It was the perfect pick me up when the beers were too wheaty and punchy. Usually when I’ve gotten nachos, the carne asada tastes like some reheated afterthought that’s sprinkled on the nachos for the sake of having meat. This was totally not the case with The New Spot’s. Carne asada was tender and juicy and super flavorful. The nachos tasted homemade and absorbed the flavors of the frijoles and guac without getting soggy. Those are game changer nachos right there. I couldn’t speak for the actual dining experience or whether anything else on that menu is deserving of a perfect score. Those nachos though. XD

For Mexican food, this is ok. Not a lot of choices for mexican food in the area so this is pretty much it if you work here and don’t have a car. It’s expensive and I don’t know why. I brought my son to work and I bought him a plain quesadilla and it cost me $ 8.50. Very over fried chips with salsa is $ 2. After reading some reviews, I’m not alone on why the heck they cost so much! Service: Based on my experience, they always seem so very overwhelmed and put out and it translates to how they treat customers.

Super tasty fast mexican food in the Dogpatch area. And they give a lot of food too! I just stick with the burrito(pollo asado and refried beans!) and rice. I know sounds boring, but they make standard stuff just really tasty which explains why it’s probably a little more expensive than you expect. It’s a little tough to park but within a few blocks you can hopefully find street parking, or even across 3rd street in the more neighborhoody streets. It’s a little small in the restaurant and the line can get wrong, but it is some tasty food! It would be hard to dine-in, especially if you’re in a hurry! I did get mine to go so I’m not sure if there is a salsa bar or anything like other places.

Came here after trying to go to Smokestack down the street(fail) and was pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious, although there weren’t very many options to chose from. We ordered the chip and dips appetizer, its just a lot of salsa. So, it was pretty expensive for getting a lot of salsa and almost no guacamole. We also each got a taco plate with a mix of different taco meats. No complaints there! Service was pretty slow. The place is also really small. Sadly, the highlight was sitting by an extremely awkward first date and listening to their bizarre conversation.

Little hole in the wall with surprisingly great food. Got 2 chicken tacos for $ 5.50(not the cheapest, but it’s SF) — perfectly grilled meat(and a lot of it) served like a traditional street taco with diced onions and cilantro. Fresh fried chips are fantastic, though I wish they served a chunky pico do gallo to go with them rather than a watery salsa. ~$ 8 burrito looked pretty decent, if not the biggest burrito I’ve ever seen. Sounds like pupusas are where it’s at here — might have to come back for them on a future trip to Mission Bay. Friendly service at the counter and beautiful macaw mural inside. Give em’ a try!

This is one of my fav brunch rotations. The Juevos Rancheros are excellent! They got the corn tortillas crispy and even with the Ranchero sauce it all held together. Spicey! Coffee is served French Press style and they also have canned flavored SanPellegrinos. It’s a small place but I like the cozy feel and the giant parrot head painted on the wall. There’s a small fan up near the door that keeps the air moving. It looks like a fan from a bygone era but so helpful when the weather is just above nippy and you wouldn’t want to prop the door open. Customer comfort is a good thing.
