Perfect spot to relax and ease your mind… especially during finals week haha. They recently started accepting credit cards! Woooo hooo!

This place has a great ambiance, and they even have live bands here on a regular basis(some of them State students). I love that they have cider on tap for those of us who don’t like beer. The prices are cheap and you can grab food from one of the vendors right underneath the bar. Great place to sit and study with friends!

This was the place when I was a student here. The Depot was the other spot that I went to concurrently. The beer is expensive when compared to the cost. I could spend what I paid here for a large beer and get 240s from 7 eleven or any corner store. This place tends to not take into account the notion of POORCOLLEGESTUDENTS. But maybe they didn’t get the MEMO! What they need is a suggestion box. #GETAFLASKANDKEEPITMOVING

A great atmosphere to get a drink and watch a game. Lots of locals. Hot dogs included. Only excepts cash but there is an ATM machine. It was opened on Sunday.

Best place to come after having a midterm or final and you just need a refreshing beer to relax and maybe watch the giants win the world series or watch the Warriors make playoffs. It’s small but it kills the urge of having a beer after class without having to walk to far.

It’s a cheap bar on campus, what more can you ask for?! Sucks that you can’t just mosey around campus with your drink but still cool nonetheless, at least you have the Depot down the hall.

Dear SFSU Pub, You give me EVERYTHING. Thanks to you, I have a place to study, relax, and people watch… all while consuming lots of beer. Mary — you are a lovely person and I am glad a cool person like you gives me my beer. THANKS.

When I was a student this was a great place to hang out. They had two happy hours to try to fit into your schedule. They also had food. When you aren’t feeling bear they had sake and mike’s lemonade.

Pros: — Conveniently on campus — Great selection of beers on top and in bottles — Friendly Staff Cons: — 1 – 2 Big Flat Screen tvs — Tables were sticky — Can get really loud during the 49ers and Giants games — Expensive beer — Closes early — Food looks questionable

A nice place to go when you’re stranded at state and your trusty flask is out. It’s reasonably priced with a varied beer selection. I agree about the slight hose funk though. Most bougie beers are 4oz/$ 1 during happy hours(anytime not 3−5pm), and you can cop a 24 of pabst for tree fiddy. 21st cans are $ 3 all day, my 3 – 5 go-to. Chill bartenders. Free peanuts are back, time for the liquid pb sando to make a reappearance. A great, centralized service for students, and the only place at state other than Jessie’s(rip) where I’m usually satisfied with my purchase.

This is super cool because you can drink on campus and there tends to be great music going on. Be there for happy hour and be sure to bring friends so you can share a pitcher of beer. About 8 different beers on tap and they serve food. Can’t complain about a place you can come to after classes and have a beer or two.

Cheap beers on campus plus bites to eat… sounds good to me! The actual pub is smaller but you can always go to the Depot next door. Friendly staff and clean environment. This is where I go after a classes or exams to celebrate! If you’re going with a large group I recommend you go with a pitcher. Don’t expect any thing fancy think more along the lines of convenience.

A quintessential bar of last resort, the SFSU pub manages to combine bad ambiance, expensive beer, and an unpleasant crowd into an unholy cocktail of sticky floors, post-exam meltdowns and self-loathing. While I certainly cannot say the beer selection is bad – New Belgium’s Seasonals oft show up, and the Anchor Porter is a permanent fixture– much of the selection trends towards macrobrews, which, in their defense are much easier to clean off the ripped Levis and plaid flannel shirts that the preponderance of patrons seem to be wearing. However, there are some huge problems: beer is expensive(7 $ for a 20 oz pour of mediocre beer into a plastic mug? No thanks!), and much of it comes with an unwelcome funk. While I would normally blame the foul-tasting beer on this pub’s location in the bowels of the Caesar Chavez Student Center(taste that off-flavor? Your overpriced beer passed through the sphincter!), its probably more likely that the lines aren’t cleaned nearly enough. Food consists of whatever can be microwaved from Costco, and, while I admittedly love my Chicken Bakes, three dollars is simply too much for an overnuked specimen. In conclusion, the outstanding potential for day-drinking and before-class shit shows is simply not enough to mitigate the crappy, overpriced beer(did I mention the plastic mugs?), and unpleasant environment. Come here to artificially hit rock bottom, not for a good time.

I love the pub at sfsu. It is small but it is nice. Beer is always a good price. Great place to grab a drink before and/or after classes. They also have 3 flat screen TV so they are always playing the current sports game! Only downside — they are suppose to get bar food but that hasn’t happened yet.

Avoid the Calzones. $ 5 and what you get is an over microwaved pos. I ordered the italian combo, and i think a Pizza hot pocket would’ve been better. Inside was just a paste of unknown cheese and meat filling. Drinks @ Happy Hour seem good. But definitely avoid ordering any food when you have a case of the drunkchies.

I like this place quite a bit. I’m surprised that they tend to always keep a rotating New Belgium handle, Anchor Porter and Anderson Valley IPA on tap. Happy hour is almost always active, in fact it’s almost more like they have«unhappy hours» from 3 to 5. They always have some 21st Amendment cans as well. I haven’t tried the food so I can’t say anything about that, but it seems like it’s mostly frozen stuff heated up in a microwave. There’s just one tiny nagging thing that is really pretty dang bad: I think they clean their beer lines once a semester and you can definitely taste a certain level of funk in ALL the beers they have here. ANDTHATSUCKS.

I have since graduated from SFSU, and I wish I got to check this place out more… but you know… school is still school, even if it has a pub on campus. Good chicken strips, and they have some good beer specials. My only issues are that I wish there was more seating(especially since the school limits how far you can walk in that particular food hub with beer in hand), and it also gets pretty hot and stuffy. But I suppose that is one if the downsides to having a pub underground. They also only have one dude running the whole thing. You get your beer fast, but food takes about 10 minutes or so, depending on what you ordered. But other that that, its a casual, nice place to take a break from the books. Or in my case, the art building.

This Pub is more like a closet, but is a nice little get away when you need to slip into an alcoholic slumber or just need to get your mind off things. Not too excited about the hipster galore downing he PBR but at least stella and anchor is on tap

Not great, not awful. Sort of what you’d expect a pub to be like at a state school. The good stuff: –I cant get buzzed between classes — you can take you beer anywhere on that floor so you don’t have to stay stuck in the pub — customer service is usually good, polite, and quick — Different happy hour every day The bad stuff: — the crowd inside can often be made up of hipster douchebags — Beer in a plastic cup… I’m sure that’s some SFSU rule or something but it just doesn’t make sense to me — food is disgusting… I haven’t tried it but I can see it… better to just get some thai next door or pizza downstairs! Overall it’s just so-so. I would never go out of my way to visit this pub but I do enjoy being able to drink on campus for a reasonable price.
