Much love to the bell ringers that stand in the cold and still cheerfully ring that bell. They stand there in the freezing cold and remind you that your life could be worse-you could be volunteering and asking people to donate money. Or you could be homeless, with two kids to feed and no hope in sight. When I see the Salvation Army, I remember rougher times when mom had no job and the most she could spend on me were the quarters she put in the piggy bank that was my Christmas gift. I’m grateful so now I never hesitate to share a little something with these cheerful bell ringers and they never hesitate to smile back and wish me a great day in return. I think the best greeting was, «I hope Santa gives you extra presents this Christmas!» followed by a cheerful hearty laugh. I love Christmas and I love how it brings out the good in everyone. Without organizations like the Salvation Army, I know a lot of families would be without that one awesome pick me up.
