I was referred to come here from a friend who also lives on the same side of the hill. Plus was that I am able to walk here from my house. Just like any dive bar it was dark, small, tad smelly, and cheap great drinks. I came here on a Tues night and it was pretty empty. There was a jukebox and some gfs and I thought we should play some music. They seemed like regulars and they pretty much tried to bully us to not play any music. I think they just assumed we would play music they wouldn’t like and that we were invading«their» territory. Im not sure if it was the owner or not but he came and basically was like do whatever you want dont listen to em.(Thank you) IMO… I most likely won’t be coming back, eventhough it is so convienient to walk to. I rather spend my $ at a place where I wont get bullied. PS… what’s so annoying is that those patrons were rockin out to my music choice. Greasy middle aged men need to get a life haha.

Highlights from this night — quippy name — FINE bartenders — stiff drinks — pool & internet juke box — awesome people I ended up writing drunk haikus on napkins at the bar. Poetic genius. Beware of the chalk board. Apparently I like to lean on walls and was a chalky mess for a good part of the night.

Oliver and Jay have done it again. Cheap drinks and daily specials to keep you entertained even on the weeknights. Cozy neighborhood dive and awesome bartenders serving it up right. Best thing about this bar is unlike Dear mom you can always count on finding seats for your group while still being able to order food from dearmom’s menu and have it delivered in less than 30 minutes… Falafel Burger Highly recommend

Aside from this spot’s comfy neighborhood vibe and the improved ambiance over Sadies(we all look better in lower lights you guys) — for me it comes down to my bartender Monday night being from Minnesota and calling me «darlin’.» What can I say, I’m pretty easy. Though I still have reservations about an internet jukebox — preferring the ones that bar owners/workers/regulars curate — I like that there are at least select proprietor favorites here that cost less to play. Overall — I’m sold. Verdi Club’s Steve remains my number one bartender crush, but what he doesn’t know(that from now on I’ll probably stop in at Evelyn Lee’s before Verdi Club events) won’t hurt him, right?

A dive bar with a sweet name and an even sweeter bartender.(Ask for Mark, he’s great.) A pool table, a bad-ass jukebox, and PBR + Jameson(PB+J) for $ 7= yes, please!

i love all of the bars that these guys open and evelyn lee is no exception. i had never been to the mission hill saloon, so i can’t speak to any differences. what i can say is, this a fun location for a bar: off the beaten path so it tends to attract more locals and people from the neighborhood. the set up is nice: the pool table is out of the way /in the back and there’s lots of seating up front. the drinks are tasty too, but to be fair, it’s pretty hard to mess up a tall can of PBR and a shot of jameson.

The newest iteration of this bar seems fine. Same decent drinks, same decent environment. It’s a fine neighborhood bar but not really worth making a trip out of your way for. You’d think the cool new name might come with some cool new vibe. They do have some decent shot and a drink combos for around $ 7 but not sure that’s enough to keep a business alive. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place goes the way of «Sadie’s flying elephant» and«The Saloon.»

I was really looking forward to trying the dear mom team’s newest bar this weekend as I live pretty close by and have enjoyed their other bars in the past. Unfortunately, the unresolved… did not come close to rivaling the other or any bar I enjoy going to for that matter. The highlight and downfall of the place is that the bartenders are more drunk at 11 pm than you’ll be at 2 am. Two beers please is returned ten minutes later with a spacy look that says hopefully you ordered something complicated because im not even sure I talked to you yet. They did. And you didn’t but you remain hoping that the second times the charm. Now don’t go thinking I haven’t frequented any number of dive bars and am expecting any kind of exceptional service. I just have a hard time with a bartender who can’t remember a simple drink immediately after taking your order. But my real problem stems from the shit they pulled the other night. After a long day at work I ended up at the bar at 1:45 am. I wasn’t sure if they were still serving but after ten minutes of ignoring me at the bar and asking me my order twice(there was no one at the bar) they poured me and a friend two beers as they called last call. Great I thought until we sat down and no joke they told us the bar was closed and that we had to get out about five minutes after ordering. They proceeded to loom over our table and attempt to physically remove our drinks from our hands while yelling at us to get out. Now I know what you’re thinking… we probably did something to warrant this kind if treatment. But really, this is the result of lame, passionately disinterested, drunk bar tenders. I’ve never been moved to review anything on Unilocal, but this experience prompted me to do my best to help all of you from ruining what ought to be a good night out. Good luck.

Dear Mom, I opened a bar in San Francisco! Here’s how I did it: 1) Bought a bar 2) Added nothing to the décor or ambiance 3) Gave it a pretentious name(remember my band that sucked? Same name!) 4) Let my friends-of-friends who can’t bartend, bartend. 5) Sit back and count the hipsters’ money(but don’t worry Mom, I’m counting safely in my own, nice neighborhood).

How best to fix a bar that’s lost its spark? Why not give it a really odd name? Seems to be working. Things you probably don’t wanna do, at least according to the model TULLoEL followed: * Significantly improve the interior. * Get better drinks * Clean the place up * Fix the pinball machine * Stop bums from peeing on the billiards table

Sweet, Oliver and Jay have taken over the old Sadie’s space which sports an Addams Family pinball machine, pool table, and lots of great drink options and whiskeys of course. It still has the old Mission Hill Saloon(that’s what it was called before right?) up but maybe that’s because the current name wouldn’t fit on that sign. Either way, it’s a good spot to meet up with lots of locals(I ran into like five folks from a two block radius) and everyone’s really friendly. Saw an average looking guy making out with a girl that was like +3 on the hotness scale for him so that’s gotta mean something…

Evelyn lee is an amazing joint! Personally coming from the central valley and visiting the bay on many occasions it is rare to find an amazing friendly atmosphere or environment like the one that is over here. Truely one in a million and if anyone was ever looking for a place to pass thru, here is where you’re looking for.

this neighborhood dive comes complete with whiskey fueled friendships, wine soaked romances, and gloriously bearded bartenders shooting to make the best of your forgotten unforgettable moments. on top of that, plenty of beautiful brunettes stop by, so why haven’t you? but make sure the juke stays sharp.
