What can I say about Tony. He embodies the American business model that anyone seeking success in business will want to watch in action. The banter with his customers is the classic urban experience. He makes one feel at home. The food is delicious, quickly prepared, and priced right. He’s always polite to me and my brother. Great Job, Tony!

Great, quick service, food is piping hot and I’ve honestly never seen such good food at such a low cost especially in the city

What’s not to like… the food is quite good, prices are very reasonable for SoMa, generous portions and the staff is clearly working hard to keep the orders moving along… I see a few reviewers had their feelings hurt because«Tony» didn’t make them feel as special as they feel they are, but he’s a character and adds to the charm of the place in my opinion.

This business claims that they are open since 6:00am. I did a Unilocal search and most of other breakfast places dont open this early. So i walked here hoping to get a sandwich and some coffee. It is 6:45am and they are still closed. False advertisement! Is it so hard to edit your business hours? So people would not waste their time in the morning? Pissed

Good deli. Yummy and fresh sandwiches and breakfast bagels, assorted drinks/snacks. Nice people behind the counter with a friendly smile every time I’ve been here. It gets pretty busy at lunch time, so plan for that. However, they move quickly!

They have great sandwiches here for a very affordable price. The owner is really welcoming as well. I would give this a 4 star, but my order has been messed up more than once and for that reason I will lower it to a sub 3.5 rating which rounds down to three. As an example, one time I asked for a breakfast burrito with avocado and ended up with no avocado(despite paying the price for it).

Ya know, as an east coaster I just want a freaking sandwich. I don’t need $ 18 pastrami or $ 15 grilled cheese. In fact, I loathe sandwich price gouging. Which happens at about 86% of the sandwich joints in this town. Just give me a solid deli sandwich. This is what this place does. I got the turkey club. While it was not your classic club with the toothpicks and three pieces of toast, it had all the elements of a great club tucked inside a fresh whole wheat roll for $ 8. Love the acidity from the splash of vinegar. Love the portion and love the friendly owner at the register. I haven’t been here in 12 years and I’m trying to understand why after my experience today. Great sando. Thanks Tony. Tom

I was skeptical last time I passed by cause they were working in there and it looked semi closed.. so I left without taking anything. . went back a week ago and went twice or 3 times in a week. Great sandwiches, fresh salads and fruit salads perfect! service fast and friendly, good options… definitely I’m coming back when I’m back in town :)

Today I had the Garden Salad which comes with mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, avocado, all mixed in with a vinaigrette. It was a HUGE portion for only $ 6! The greens tasted fresh and the vegetables were yummy. Also, they didn’t skimp on the avocados! I must warn you that the vegetables are already coated with the dressing, so don’t dump more in there if you’re not too into it. I didn’t get to try their sandwich today but it looks like it’s a hearty portion that will keep any hungry heart satisfied.

I like the way Tony thinks! Really good food. I got a whole wheat roll with pastrami, turkey, pepper jack cheese, banana peppers, mayo and pickles yummy! Very filling as well and you can’t complain about the price that’s for sure. Will visit for breakfast tomorrow.

Great for the price. Cheap, delicious sandwiches. They take credit cards, which is always a plus. Just be aware that if you want cheese it will be a whole dollar extra. That dollar can be a significant price increase since these subs are very inexpensive. I only mention this because it is very easy to just say«Yes» when they ask if you want cheese, without knowing it will cost more.

So delicious! I flew into sf, took the tram to civic center & felt hungry so came here. Needless to say it was a good decision– if you’re looking for that small deli feel and awesome sandwiches with fresh ingredients come here! Also the owner was very nice :)

Friendly staff, good food, convenient — really all you need for a quick lunch stop to get you through the work day’ Their sandwiches to me are more on the hearty side(though you could certainly make your own and make it a little more healthy) and are pretty big, so come hungry! I’ve never gotten any of the food in the cases(salads, pastas, lasagna) but it’s always looked pretty good!

I came here this morning for breakfast and ordered a hot pastrami sandwich with provolone on a dutch crunch roll and I was very happy with my sandwich. Generous amount of pastrami, and very tasty overall. Ready for me in less than 5 minutes and for around $ 6, I’m pretty sure you’d have a hard time finding a place that can match Tony’s. I’m not sure why people have issues with service as the owner was super nice to me, and the service was very speedy. Definitely coming back.

Cons: Ingredients do not seem fresh, sandwiches messily made, and place looks a bit dirty. I usually get the garden veggie burger with cheese, which costs about $ 10. You could probably get a better sandwich for the price at subway. Pro: Store owner is super chill. If you are down a dollar or two, he wouldn’t mind.

Anyplace where 5 – 0 hangs out must be good. You know how they love the shoot the shhh and chill on their lunch hour. When I walked in, there were at least 5 officers chowing down on some of Tony’s sandwich creations. I have to say Tony’s shop deserves 2.5 stars, primarily for the quick service and the delicious sandwich. Unfortunately Tony, the owner, is not the most friendly shop keeper. In fact after I paid with my card, instead of handing it back to me he tossed on the counter so it almost slid off. Who does that? Don’t get me wrong, the smoked salmon sandwich was on point. Filled with ample amounts of sliced smoked salmon, a hefty dollop of cream cheese, capers sprinkled throughout, resting on salad greens and drizzled with a tangy balsamic vinaigrette, it definitely hit the spot! The bread was even fresh and enjoyable on its own. Not to mention my sandwich including chips was under $ 9.00. That’s a big deal in SOMA! The poor customer experience left me not wanting to return though. Maybe next time I can just have someone pick up my sandwich instead.

Pros: Good variety Open early Decent prices Cons: Flavors weren’t anything out of this world Slow service My gorup came in and yes, we did order about 5 sandwiches together, but the owner/workers made the next two customers’ orders before ours because they only had one sandwich each. So we ended up waiting forever for ours to me done. I got the chicken pesto sandwich and it was good, but like I said nothing out of this world. Could have used more chicken perhaps.

When I first walked in I wasn’t sure what I was getting in to but the reviews were good so I decided to check it out. The owner was working behind the counter and was taking orders but every time he asked who was next he either walked away or started working on another sandwich. I thought no way was he going to get my order right. But he did and the sandwich was delicious. Curious to try some of the other ones as well.

Do not patronize. Tony is rude. When Kamal was there service was amazing! Tony Is a crook he overcharges at the register and does not charge the price listed on the menu. He will kick you out of his restaurant if you order things that are not on the menu. For example, I ordered a soft scramble with cheddar cheese and he refused to serve me because it wasn’t on the menu. And I have been ordering this since 2005 and suddenly he changed up his attitude on me, it’s completely absurd because he will make breakfast burritos and everything else. And lastly it was brought to my attention by my colleague there is a cockroach infestation and if you walk around the restaurant and look around the perimeter it’s dirty and you will find remnants of dead roaches. I was shocked.

Love coming here !! It’s really just a regular deli. No matter how many breakfast food choices I have around here, I always end up here. Maybe it’s the consistency in their coffee, the way they greet me in the morning, or the comfort in seeing the same people every morning. Just like my favorite shirt, no matter how many shirts I buy I always end up wearing that same shirt. Mon. Sesame bagel with bacon and egg no cheese + coffee Tues.Glazed donut + coffee Wed. Repeat…
