I have stopped in this place on numerous occasions, but it was not until I had a shoe disaster(walking with the sig other all the way from the Ferry Building creates horrible blisters) that I finally broke down and bought a pair. The prices are a bit steep, but for the neighborhood it is understandable. I also really really appreciate that it is a local company and their shoes are super versatile. Even though I bought my pair under foot duress I love them and they go perfectly with both skinny jeans and cute little dresses and skirts. Plus, it looks to me like mid-season sales are the way to go for deals at this place. I hot my pair at about half off and they look perfectly suited for fall. Go me!

I like this place for all the reasons that Nish mentions. Fabulous right! But the stock is sorely lacking in my opinion and if you are going to have handbags have more than just 5. Just want MORE! Tainted by the likes of Aldo and Nine West etc. Probably. I know they are not the same but…

Let me count the ways I dig Twenty Two Shoes: 1) They’re based in Oakland, so if you’re into supporting local businesses, this is a good start. The Marina location has a good selection of both their women’s and men’s collections. 2) All their shoes and boots are produced in a factory the La Marche Region in Italy. 3) They’re environmentally conscious, using vegetable-dyed leathers, non-toxic glues and alternative fastening methods like stapling leather to the soles 4) The boots I picked up this Saturday are unique, extremely comfortable, modern but with fine details(and on sale as they were, a real steal of a deal). 5) Brad Pitt owns five pairs of shoes from here. Ok, maybe I’m being facetious — although factual — in that last point, but Twenty Two Shoes has got it going on down there. And by that I mean, your feet.

I like this place; I first saw a pair of round-toe ankle booties featured in Lucky Magazine and immediately went to the website to check on their inventory in my size. I scored: One pair in black, one pair in a fauny, camel color. And they were like, 50% off of the original price. Yesss!!! Normally, when I look through my collection of European shoes, I see gorgeous but often impractical shoes for traipsing about the City and taking public transportation. The craftsmanship at Twenty Two is phenomenal, and at a great price point — even when they’re not on sale. The designs are hip, urban and so wearable. They have these incredibly fashionable yet cushy heels, cork insoles with a brilliant contour that prevents your feet from sliding forward and resulting in smashed toes! Twenty Two blends fashion and comfort(two words rarely seen side by side) and is on my «watch» list.

I’ve been to their Oakland shop, and invested in a nice pair of shoes. I was excited to hear a location opened on this side of the bridge! But I was disappointed when visiting the Cow Hollow store — simply not enough inventory/selection! The shoes that were in were nice, but nothing that jumped out at me(considering how expensive the shoes are!) I’ll give it another shot in a few months… Update 7÷28÷07: Upping it a star — the selection seems to have improved a bit(or maybe it’s just me), and I hear that they’re about to get in their fall stock(boots!!). They had a wonderful sale on shoes today, and I left with a gorgeous pair of comfy shoes that were 50% off and had an additional 25% off that. Staff was friendly and helpful… but I just really hope they sort of get a bit more stock in like the Oakland store. They have such nice stuff, more variety would help…
