VitalChek is the company that SF City Hall uses to electronically deliver documents that you can also pick up in person at the County Recorder’s Office. There is a reason why the city website gives a disclaimer that they are not responsible for third party actions of the site. VitalChek requires a notarized document prior to actual electronic delivery of anything. However, they charge you a non-refundable fee of $ 12.95 to inform you that you need to physically go to a notary and get your identification verified. After multiple requests to their customer service department, I was met with only canned responses saying that the fee is non-refundable. This company is fraudulent because they have not performed any services, yet they decide to charge without informing the consumer of prerequisites. I’m sure it’s in the wall of legalese they make you«Accept to Continue» before you send your order. But let’s be honest here, when is the last time any of us has read that before clicking on the«Buy it now» button? I hope the business decides to change their practices, there are multiple complaints on BBB about the same issue. I want to warn everyone who is thinking about ordering documentation online through this company in SF to stay away.
