For one of my best friends birthday, we started our day by having brunch at Vitrine. I made reservations for 4 using Opentable. Service was amazing. Our waiter was Kane and he was just wonderful and made our experience top notch. I love going out to eat with my girlfriends because we order a ton of food and share everything amongst the table. It’s a great way to try a ton of stuff on the menu. Between the four of us, we shared the following items: Black Truffle Frittata: Freshly cracked petaluma farmed eggs, prosciutto, mixed mushrooms, celery root, frisee salad, fingerling potatoes and black truffle dressing My friends loved this! Organic Prime Beef Burger I thought this was fine. Nothing to write home about. Brioche French toast: Fromage blanc and and homemade fruit marmalade Perfect to end our meal with before our amazing waiter Kane brought over a birthday surprise for my friend. St. Regis Chopped Salad This was OK. Third street club sandwich: Fresh dungeness crab meat, celery romoulade, bibb lettuce served on sourdough toast Good but I’ve definitely had better club sanwiches We also ordered a bottle of champagne for the table. I opted for iced tea. As a surprise, our amazing waiter Kane gave us my friend a plate of chocolates with a candle and Happy Birthday spelled out in chocolate. Our waiter was amazing and we tipped over 30% because he was just that great! Definitely recommend this place because they provide outstanding service and the food is good.

Truly fantastic service and wonderful food. On a business trip and staying at the St Regis — ate lunch at Vitrine two days in a row. The service was absolutely flawless: warm, prompt, thoughtful, accurate, attentive and with just enough of a flourish to feel special. The food was excellent. Soup was luscious, flavorful — the Croque Monsieur wonderful. Yes, it’s pricey — but they do all they can to make you feel it’s money well spent.

***************************** 1411 *************************** Vitrine is on the second floor of the St. Regis San Francisco. I stayed-cation here last week before my surgery. So I came here 3 times for brunch and lunch. The food was quite good. I enjoyed the smoked salmon, the amuse bouche, the omelettes with veggies, and the benedicts. Lunch, the crab sandwich was bland, but the linguini was nice, and the steak was perfectly cooked. The dining room is quite small for a 5-stars hotel this size. The hotel was completely booked. I had to make reservations for brunch, otherwise, we had to wait for 30 minutes. Because it’s at the St. Regis, my brunch for 2 was about $ 120 for 2. We didn’t order any alcohol, but coffee was free refill, and the fresh squeezed orange juice was very good. Service was good on 3 times I came here during this staycation. Except 1 of the servers used his hands to pick up the forks and knives dropped on the floor. He then used the same hands, replacing the tables with new forks and knives without washing his hands. I saw him did that on a few tables. Shouldn’t he suppose to wash his hands first? That just grossed me out. I’m surprised by this. This was the first time I experienced this here. And I’ve stayed-cation here a few times this past few years. P. S. Valet Parking is about $ 62 per day, if you just come here for lunch or brunch, expect to pay at least $ 25.

Expense accounts only. The food is mediocre and the service is pretentious. If you only have 7 things on the menu, I expect them to be good. Asking me how I want my $ 29 burger prepared and serving it well done when I ask for medium rare is embarrassing. I feel ripped off and I wasn’t even spending my own money.

I’ve never had a more expensive breakfast in my whole life, geez. I know that San Francisco is expensive and eating at a hotel restaurant bumps the prices up even more, but lordy. $ 20 for 3 pancakes(that come with no sides) and an additional charge for them being gluten free. After ordering a side of bacon and a coke, my meal was $ 39 without the nice tip I always leave. Thank god the pancakes were stellar. Seriously though, these were the best gluten free pancakes ever. I was questioning«…are these really gluten free?» The texture was so perfect and the flavor was just right. Simple, beautiful buttermilk pancakes served with regular butter and the option of citrus butter, plus plenty of warm maple syrup. Sooooo delicious. The bacon was good too, although a bit overdone for my taste. The server brought me out a sample chocolate chip pancake to try, but it wasn’t gluten free so I couldn’t eat it. I found it odd that he brought it out at all, considering my order. He took it away and brought back a cutesy little fruit skewer with a shot glass of orange-carrot juice. I thought it was a nice little touch considering the cost of such an ordinary breakfast. I found my booth seat to be quite uncomfortable. The seat itself is very wide, so if I put my back against the backrest I couldn’t even reach the table. I actually used my laptop case and sweater as a spacer between my back and the booth so that I could comfortably eat. The ambiance itself is lovely and bright with tons of natural light and white linen tablecloths. Very hotel-y. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my breakfast, but I don’t think I can see myself spending over $ 20 on 3 pancakes again.

I went to Vitrene for Sunday brunch. The buttermilk pancakes sounded great, and I thought I could not go wrong with a restaurant in the St Regis. The hostess was very friendly and my wife and I were quickly seated. The restaurant was about half full, and after somewhere between 10 and 15 minutes of waiting for someone to come to our table, we left.

During the Academy of Dermatology conference I had a corporate breakfast here. It’s crazy expensive but oh so good. Perfectly cooked eggs, sides and all of the condiments. Excellent coffee.

It’s weird. Not in a bad way, just well… weird. Weird like despite not being cheap, and being in a fancy hotel, people come in like it’s the HoJo continental breakfast. It looks like a conference space, drop ceiling, 4th floor, etc. The food is good. well the breakfast is good. I’ve only ever been for breakfast. They have speck, which is amazing extra bacony delicious! The pancakes aren’t bad, very filling. Since my best friend loves the place, i eat there once a year on a trip to SF :)

Fancy place with fancy looking food that misses the mark of actually being good. I got the burger which came plated really well but was so incredibly greasy that the grease basically dissolved the bottom bun. The taste was also not much to write home about. Of course, the service was nice but that’s to be expected for the price tag. I was offered a black napkin cloth since I was wearing a black dress so that was a nice touch. Minus points, however, for the waiter spilling my water on me and just watching as a mopped myself up. Gg no re.

This is not a knock on the St. Regis. This is not a knock on Vitrine itself. This is an honest assessment of one of the more comically disappointing meals I’ve had at a ‘nice’ restaurant in quite some time. I want to note that the service was great, from front of house to the servers to bus, but everybody seemed nervous. The Houston Rockets were staying in the hotel during the NBA Playoffs during my visit, and perhaps that had people jittery? Or maybe the head chef was off during my meal? Regardless, everything from the amuse bouche(oddly flavorless melon with stringy prosciutto overdressed in balsamic) to the yellow monochrome chop salad to the«that looks like dim sum in broth» nettle ravioli in parmesan cream sauce was subpar. The plating was great, the flavors were just imbalanced throughout the meal and of seven diners at our table, five were conversing earnestly about the lackluster food as we were leaving. The other two had sandwiches, which perhaps is the way to go at Vitrine.

With the combination of great service and perfect food(Poached Eggs A la Russe) I’m just speechless and kept eating. I also ordered the organic juice of cranberry and peach, you all should try this mixed juice it was so delicious!

Great breakfast with lovely gluten free options. I had Gluten Free Buttermilk Pancakes — best pancakes but way too much food. 3 pancakes, super fluffy, the size of a plate! Excellent breakfast spot.

Slow service ! We ordered octopus it was mushy and tasted rubbery. The crab cakes was disappointing. Not much of selection on menu and was very shocked to see no chicken on menu. Side salad was bland. The prices are ridiculous and we expected more at the best address! Does the chef taste the food! Oh the tartine is a joke! A slice of toast with ham on top !!! Ok the only thing I liked was the mini baguette! I would never come back.

Came here for lunch. Seared sea bass on top of veggies, green sauce an some water chest nut slices on the side. The sea bass was okay, no fishy taste, but that was pretty much the entire dish. It was almost like an appetizer.

Being a resident in SoMa, I stumbled upon this place(via Unilocal) when looking for brunch I could get before 10am(no small task). It has great views and the service was actually quite good– good when you got there attention but attention was often hard to get. My cappuccino was very nice and it went downhill from there. I just wanted a simple Benedict, and what I got was under cooked and underwhelming. The sauce was too thick and not tasty– how can hollandaise not be tasty?! The black truffles they seem to love adding to everything did nothing for the dish, or me, at all. To make it worse, they couldn’t split our meal three ways and so they decided to put it all on my card and tell us that when they returned the cards, not a huge deal but a bit annoying. Not a fan. Way too many better options nearby.

Disappointment. Although most St. Regis restaurants are known for their service instead of food, I wanted to try Vitrine after reading many positive Unilocal reviews. However, Vitrine struggles with the same issue as the other St. Regis restaurants. As I left the restaurant, I felt unfulfilled and was ready for my second brunch. If the food at Vitrine is either fresh or is cooked well, I am willing to pay the food at a premium price. However, the price is not justified, when the chef’s special only has regular bacon that I can buy in Target, eggs and burnt toast that is not hot. My friend tried to cover the toast with as much variety of jams as possible to cover the burnt taste. My exotic fruit plate is not exotic by all means. It is simply a bowl of pineapple, mango and kiwi that are chopped into small cubes. The fruits are either from the can or are dripped in syrup by an over-excited chef. While I did not expect a beautiful exotic fruit plate like that in Hakkasan, my expectation of fresh fruit was not met. However, my friend did enjoy the fresh orange juice, and I liked my lavender earl grey tea, which I wish could have a heavier lavender flavor. While the food at Vitrine was sub par, the service was good as expected. The waiter has counted my cup of earl grey tea as part of the chef’s special meal. The server who is polite constantly fill the glasses with water. The restaurant is in a convenient location and allows you to make reservations via Opentable. Thus, if you want to eat in a quiet environment without the hassle of waiting in line, you may enjoy dining at Vitrine. However, I personally will not visit the restaurant again due to the overpriced mediocre food, unless I am there for business meetings.

I am torn, St. Regis is such an upscale hotel, the lobby/bar/staff/rooms/suites/Ame and even the elevators are superb… but Vitrine left me a bit, lost of words. I decided to try it out for my gf’s birthday brunch. Vitrine is pretty secluded, tucked in the corner on 4th floor. The four of us arrived ten minutes late but were seated immediately, because the place was pretty much empty(one other table there the whole time). Perhaps, father’s day??? The hostess was very friendly, asked who is the birthday girl, attentive. On with the embience… hmmmm, it felt like a great place for business meetings. The color schemes are very neutral, sitting there felt cold, just blah… The service of course was splendid, many servers, glasses were always filled, napkins folded. Food: egg benedict, french toast, frittata, chocolate cheescake and a cute plate of chocolate bites for the birthday girl. Taste was decent(bread wasn’t fresh at all) nothing wow. One of the girls mentioned and i somewhat agree«food taste like room service meal» =P

Let’s start with this: the place is clean, lovely, well lighted, and beautiful. The service is impeccable. I expected nothing less at the St. Regis. The food is pricey, of course. We got organic eggs scrambled with sausage, potatoes, and toast. Drank some bloody Mary’s and called it a brunch. What we had would probably have been around 20 – 30 dollars elsewhere but it was 50 dollars here. So yes you’re definitely paying for the ambiance and service(which is often worth it). I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to come here unless I was staying here but it was a good experience.

Lovely space and good service but totally lacking in flavor! Ordered the crab salad club and I have to say it was bread that had the texture of Styrofoam. The crab was nothing to write home about. We had to ask for hot sauce just to get through it. Our entire table unfortunately ordered the same thing. so we all ate in silence, all dumbfounded at the fact we all paid $ 24 for this calamity. Ok, we will say the chips were good. We also got a chopped salad and it was not what I expected, chopped salad should be opulent especially in a gorgeous space as this. But alas, it was a plate of salad greens with some hidden pieces of poached chicken. No piles of tasty goodies in separate heaping ingrediants but we did find tiny slivers of watermelon radish. Pathetic.

Had breakfast here and would recommend the Benedict Food tried: Benedict — really tasty! I loved everything about this dish. The flavors, textures, ingredients. Just the right amount of truffle. I would eat this again and again. Pancakes — average. Service: Attentive and courteous
