Just got a brand new set of tires a few months back (from Wheel Works), and got a flat — a screw! Brought the car in with the spare on, and they took the time to patch the tire, and put it back on — like new and NO CHARGE! Great customer service — I was a little daunted by how busy the place was but they got it done.

WARNING!!! This facility should be called «Shoddy Works». They may be ok at replacing tires. But I would NOT recommend them for mechanical work.
The «1-​star» rating is for their mechanic work, not their customer service (which is nice). Let’s just say that their work on replacing my water pump was substandard; and now, two years later, I’m having to unexpectedly pay out several hundred dollars to another mechanic to fix/​replace a part that I had already paid to have done by Wheel Works. The coolant light came on again and I took the vehicle to two different independent mechanics who both said there’s leaking from the water pump. WHAT?!? Did Wheel Works install a defective part?
Most upsetting!

Ive been coming here for 6 – 7 years and never felt like I was getting ripped off. Once they even talked me out of of replacing a whole part for a simple repair they did on the spot. I just brought my car in for a nail in the tire and it was fixed within the hour, I live close by so I don’t mind leaving it there and picking up later, I would understand the frustration with being told one time and it taking longer. You should always get a second option but when I have its been very close to what they said. They have also recommended me to other repair shops when they have been either too busy or the repair needed someone with more specialty. Give them a try drop your car off pick it up later or the next day no problems for me.

Absolutely the best there is, based on years of experience. Today (New Year’s Day, when other places are closed), still getting quick, efficient and personable service from Matt and Steve.
This is the Wheel Works branch where I can stop by to have them take a look at the tires, they will check and tell me I am good to go, instead of trying to sell something. For this and the quality of work they do, they have my trust… and future business.

I had a great experience here. I noticed that one of my tires was low and when I went to pump it up, also noticed that I had a big screw stuck in the tread. I called around and all the places in my neighborhood were either closed or backed up and couldn’t do help me until later in the week. One of the places recommended that I call Wheel Works, which I did and they said they could repair the tire in a few hours. Matt helped me, and like the other reviews say, he is the man. Super friendly and professional. I felt much better about the whole situation about 10 seconds into my conversation with him. He took the time to look at the screw first, to make sure it was repairable before committing to the work. He gave me a price quote and walked me through everything they were going to do. I asked if they could also do a tire rotation since I was due for that and he thew that in for free since it was my first time at Wheel Works. So far, so good. A couple hours later, I got a call from Matt that everything was ready. I asked him if they could please double check the tire pressures while they have the car, since I topped them all off earlier and had no idea if I put too much/​too little air in. Matt checks his records and says, «Yep… your front driver side was about 8 psi over and your back passenger side was about 7 psi over…» (or something to this effect). I’m not surprised that a tire shop would check tire pressures after doing any work… but honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t either without being asked (or if they just eyeballed it). The fact that they checked them all and Matt had the detailed pressure numbers right in front of him was another sign that run a solid operation over there. I don’t like write too many reviews, but felt that I needed to give Matt and Wheel Works credit for a great job in an industry that is often not recognized for great customer service. Thanks guys!

**Women beware** After Wheel Works put on my two new tires, they told me I needed a long list of additional work done on my car. I asked for a printed list with pricing to have the work done at Wheel Works then left.
I decided to send the list to my regular mechanic for his opinion only to have him inform me that they were going to charge me for labour on each item that needed replaced. He explained that the multiple labour charges should be charged only once as all the items needed to be done where in the same location on my car.
I also asked if Wheel Works would put the invoice in my name as it is my car, but they did not. They had put the work in my husbands name as he took my car there 1.5 years ago. I pleaded with them to put everything under my name as it was my car and my husband and I were no longer together. He responded with a chuckle and said «Maybe you will get back together»
Grrrrr!

Brought the old horse in to get an oil change. Super friendly front desk guy. Seemed knowledgeable and wasn’t trying too hard to sell us on other services… although I might have to hit up that lifetime alignment for $ 200 next time I bring my car in.

This shop was recommended to me by Costco, and behold I came across Matt Eckstrom. I only read reviews, but this is my second written review ever. If everyone else could exhibit the same professionalism like Matt, then Wheel Works would never be anything below 4 stars. If not of my experience which was long, but still got a solution to the incident that took me there, I would have given them 3. Matt alone gets 5 stars, and that bumped the shop up to 4 stars.
I understand how frustrating fixing tires could be sometimes, but I think some of the workers there forget that we are already experiencing deep frustration by coming there, and when they express frustration in return, it makes the entire experience an awful one, even if the problem got fixed.
Thanks for getting me back on the road, and I only hope it gets better because there are a lot of potentials for quality and growth.

Ugh. I wish I had something good to say since the first guy I dealt with seemed legit but overall it was a classic bait and switch tire shop.
My tire got a nice meaty screw from driving around SF’s lovely streets right near the sidewall so it was time to replace the tire. I have an AWD car so I knew I’d prob need to replace all the tires even though they only have about 18k miles on them.
I called and spoke to Matt and he was super nice and found a great price on some pirellis that were on clearance. I figured it was a great deal even though I don’t really like pirellis and decide to go for it. I’m leaving the next day on a trip to LA but he says he’ll get them on there by noon.
Next day rolls around and I call them in the morning to confirm that it’ll be ready by noon. They say it’s probably going to be closer to 1 – 2 which is fine. I speak to someone other than Matt.
30 min later the new guy calls back and says those tires aren’t available anymore and tried to up sell me on some bridgestones and that it won’t be ready until 5 and that it’ll be about twice the price. Of course he says he’ll get the car up on the blocks now so that I’ll be stuck with their shop but I said no thanks and trudged across the city and picked my car back up and decided to go with the dealer which sucks but at least the Audi dealer here isn’t too bad.
Bummer because I was ecstatic about the first price and I kind of think that Matt was being genuine but I think the second guy saw the price I was paying and decided that it wasn’t enough and was looking to gouge me. In the end I will still end up paying that hefty fee but I won’t be paying it to wheel works!

After getting a flat tire, the roadside assistant referred me to wheel works for a patch. I was happily surprised when I called and they were able to get my car in right away. The professional technician, Matt, helped me was able to answer all my questions, and when he said my car would be done in 30 – 45 minutes he was right! I got a call from the store manager, Chuhyon, who was also very polite, that my car was ready. What could have been a stressful experience ended up to be a prompt and successful experience in customer care. I will be back to wheel works for my tire needs!

They employ some lame social-​media service. The employee at the shop could access my customer history just with my name (unique) and confirmed with my phone number. But not their social-​media flak. Here’s what I got:

Two of my tires got slashed so I had my car towed to the nearest place, which was Wheel Works. I talked to a sales guy and tell him it’s coming. He gives me the cheap and expensive tire option and is pushing for the expensive tire. We agreed he’d call me and we’d talk about it when the car came in.
He didn’t call me when my car was towed in. I had to call him.
The salesperson was all about upselling to the more expensive tire and lifetime alignment. He said that if it was out of alignment, they’d do it anyway. I told him to call me first. He didn’t call. He said he didn’t agree to call but he did and that he didn’t call me when the car came in says he doesn’t have that great a track record.
They call and tell me the car is ready and I’m told the total charges include lifetime warranty which I told him wasn’t authorized. They took the charge off.
So you’d think I got a free alignment job but the read out shows a -.02 degrees which is tiny. Also, I just got the Tiguan on its 40k tune up by the VW dealership the prior weekend (5 days before) which included tire rotation, balancing, and alignment and It’s only had 100 freeway miles on it.
Then I drove it on the freeway and the tire pressure warning light goes on. The car doesn’t feel as stable. I check the tire pressure and they’re all around 42PSI warm. Next morning when it’s cold, they’re all 40PSI. The recommended PSI for the Tiguan is 35.
So in short, my experience is summed up with a salesperson trying to upsell me, unauthorized charges, and incompetence at the most minor level which created a driving hazard — overinflated tires means less tire contact to the road so less control.

I have been meaning to write this review for months. In May on the way down to Los Angeles, I got a flat tire at the last minute, and it happened to be Memorial Day. My friend recommended Wheel Works so I called and they said they could see me immediately.
Firstly, I want to highly praise Matt, the representative who helped me. He was very professional, knowledgable, and easy to talk to. He gave me the straight-​up: all my tires were in bad shape (which I already knew but was holding off on) and in a kind manner, Matt reminded me of the dangers of driving with less-​than-​optimal gear. He wasn’t pushy, I didn’t feel schemed, and I left the shop with tires that I felt secure about.
I don’t normally go to «mainstream» businesses, I would recommend this one to people. Ask for Matt.

It’s rare to walk into an auto repair shop and feel like you are getting honest service. So many times I’ve walked out from other places after getting my car serviced wondering how I got talked into spending several hundred dollars.
I wish I had gone to Wheel Works sooner. They will get you the best price possible, be considerate if you are waiting in line, and call you as soon as the job is complete. When you look out on their floor, all the mechanics are working hard. Great experience.

I have used Wheel Works several times and each time I have been very pleased with their work.
I enjoy their service and how they always have my car ready at the scheduled time.
I also have shopped at different places for a better price and their price has been the same as other places or a bit lower.

I am a part time home health care provider for an elderly gentleman in my neighborhood I’ll call Lee. Since health problems inhibited his ability to drive safely, my duties included driving him to his appointments and running various errands with the use of his car. I regularly checked the oil, tire pressure, and kept windshield washing solution in the tank under the hood which had sieve or filter under the fill-​cap to keep debris out.
The tread on Lee’s tires was pretty worn and understanding it was time for a new set of tires, he instructed me to purchase a new set for him at Wheel Works, a place he said had serviced his car in the past.
The tires cost $ 550 and work was done promptly. However, when it became necessary to replenish the windshield washer solution a couple of weeks later, I noticed that the tank had been replaced. This new ill-​fitting tank had no under-​cap filter to catch debris, and based upon it’s fit, it was obviously from from a different Toyota model or year. Worst of all, this tank had a crack half-​way down which leaked badly if I filled the tank more than 50% it’s designed capacity.
Now I can’t speak for the entire crew, but at least one of the mechanics at this establishment is using customers’ vehicles to secure parts he needs and he took Lee’s windshield washer tank. A used one can be picked up at Pick And Pull for a few dollars, but why should I be inconvenienced by driving to East Bay to secure a proper replacement?
But wait; there’s more to this sordid story.
As is common practice among mechanics, Wheel Works did a vehicle check noting any issues they felt needed to be addressed and gave me a nice printout of these problems when I picked up the car. Among the items noted was «No rear struts».
When I discussed this mechanic’s report of needed service with Lee, he said he had never had any work done that involved the suspension and can’t imagine why the struts would be missing. My best guess is that the struts were harvested by the same mechanic that swapped out the windshield washer fluid tank when Lee, an elderly white haired man took his Toyota there in the past for some routine servicing.

I bought all four new tires back in July for my SUV and luckily I also purchased the road hazard warranty for each tire (I believe around $ 25/​tire) because I’ve had three flat tires since then! All nails, most likely from all of the construction in SF!
Three different occasions, I’ve come back to have my tire replaced and all I had to pay was around $ 25 each time! If I didn’t get that warranty, I would have to pay $$$ for each tire!
All the guys that work here have always been pleasant and nice! I’ve had to wait between 45 minutes to an hour and half depending if I make an appointment or not (seems faster during the week vs weekends). But like I always say, I got more time than money, so I’m willing to wait!
I’ve only come to this Wheel Works strictly for my tires and have always had a great experience! Many thanks!
