This playground is about putting in the persistence to achieve things that are bigger than yourself. It’s about rising from meager backgrounds to become one of the best at what you do, all the while remaining humble and human. Willie Wong(RIP) practiced and practiced and practiced to learn basketball on his own. He slowly made his way through childhood games on this very playground, to high school, and to college where he played on a national level. In 1945, he was the only Chinese SF All-City team member, and he was later the first Chinese American player in Madison Square Garden. This man was 5 feet 5 inches tall and 125 pounds. No matter how short YOU are, how lightweight you are, how poor you are, and whether you’re Chinese or any other type of person, get on this playground and make someone out of yourself. Jam on the ballcourt. Hit up some tennis. Smash the volleyball. Climb the rock wall. Navigate the maze. Read a book. Dance. Do something cool. And every time you accomplish a new milestone, holler«Woo Woo!».
