Wing Wah. I think the store has been gone for good. I walked by there today, the windows had news papers all over from inside. I could see a little bit inside, it was empty. well… I’ve never seen the store open, so I’ve never seen Mr. Wah. I see many 1 star reviews. I can not believe that there were people who actually has met Mr. Wah and asked him to tailor suits or alteration jobs, and many people mentioned he sucked so bad. I am very sorry for people who had such a bad experience with him. The sign is still there. says since 1948. Again, I’ve never seen this store open. I’ll miss the window display, the pink colored unfinished blazer. it was a red but sun bleached. I am pretty sure that the place is no longer open for business. May be Mr. Wah finally got 2 wings.

Updated review: Skip this one. Too much to explain. But definitively, just skip it. Update again: OK, I feel bad for the old man. I think this place could be OK if you spoke Cantonese. He speaks neither English nor Mandarin. His English is insufficient to conduct a business of garment alterations, which can require explanation, sharing ideas, questions, and specifics. This can lead to a number of difficulties when it comes to the question of payment, timing, and obviously the details of the alterations themselves. My experience with Mr. Wah was unfortunate in the sense that a number of misunderstandings led to my taking my custom elsewhere, to his visible disappointment & displeasure. If we had been able to understand each other adequately, I do not think that would have happened. I felt bad about it afterwards. I will put a card under his door in an attempt to make it up. The short version: Don’t go here unless you speak Cantonese, and then forewarned.

Mr Wah doesn’t speak English, which does make things difficult. But he assured me that he’s been tailoring for a long time, so I felt fine. Big mistake. First, he wanted to charge me $ 400 to tailor two suits which I talked him down by half. Even for that price, I was expecting an amazing job but one of the suits needed to be redone and the jeans he had hemmed looked terrible. Waste of time and way too much money. Don’t go here.

I chose this place after reading Jason F’s 5-star review and should have guessed it was not for me when I saw neither a single customer nor other alteration jobs when I stopped by during a weekday lunchtime hour. Mr Wah really speaks NO English and his prices are not super cheap either. The only thing that kept me from running out before I gave him the order was my guilt that he already pinned my clothes and such. I honestly wasn’t sure I would ever see them again. When I came back to get them, one of my items was not ready and when it finally was it was not done correctly. Mr. Wah conveniently used the«I no understand English» card when I asked him to correct the mistake, and now I will probably end up paying someone else to fix it. So take my advice and save yourself the aggravation and money by NOT patronizing this place. He might be charming but you can’t seriously do business with someone who doesn’t speak your language.
