Really good congee Pork liver and kidney combo is also really tender and fresh. Noodle soup is good but not great.

Delicious wonton noodle soup! They also do the wonton lo-mein(stirred noodle, not the chow mein noodle). Pretty clean restaurant with an open kitchen. Service is pretty friendly but one server didn’t see the tip on the table(it wasn’t on the little black check tray), and she signaled to me as I was walking out that the tray was empty. Then she saw the tip and suddenly it was all good.

Yin Du is my go to place when I’m looking for good, cheap wonton soup. If you come here during lunch, it’s a bit difficult to find a seat due to how popular the place is. Service here is blazing fast. Once you order, it’s literally a 5 minute wait for your food to come. Portions here are filling enough that you’ll leave satisfied. If you’re sensitive to sodium, don’t drink all the broth from the soup as it’s definitely on the salty side.

The owner is scum. Avoid at all costs. Rude service, hostile, and will charge you tip on top of your bill.

Went in today and tried to order a bowl of beef brisket wonton noodle soup to share between three people, and the owner yelled at us in Chinese for costing him business by taking up a table of four and just ordering one item. WTF. We were not impressed, and we left without trying the food.

A great gem in SF Chinatown which has a lot of misses. The prices are super reasonable(cash only). Get the beef brisket stew in any variation. Guaranteed deliciousness. It’s a small place, and during peak hours be prepared to wait outside. The service isn’t great, but you’re not going or paying for service. Just have that in your mind.

Wow. What a night! Came here today for the first time with my family around 6pm, luckily there was 1 table open and we sit down. They were very busy since there were two large parties that were there before us, we still got our food in a timely manner. Service was to the point, and friendly. We ordered beef tendon hor fun(but they sold out and we got normal noodles instead); dumpling and noodle soup, a side of plain wontons; curried fish balls; and an iced lemon sweet tea. Taste: everything was good, the beef tendon was super tasty! Portions on the noodles were pretty good. Compared to some food tho(like large phở) this may seem small. I still left pretty full and got an egg custard tart nearby for dessert. Cost: super affordable! Side story: As we were finishing up our dinner, this mandarin speaking family walked into the restaurant. The waiter tells them they are closed. Now this was before 7pm, which is their closing time, but they ran out of food so they refused service to this family. Here’s the crazy part: this family barged in anyway, this lady lead her kids to the back of the restaurant to use their bathroom(seems like without asking), and when another server asks them to leave, they started shouting at the workers, saying things like«how can you do business like this» and«I’m going to report you to the police».(Here I’m thinking wtf lady, they ran out of food, just leave). What’s worse is then the older man with this family shoved the waitress! The waiter(presumably the owner) tries to calm the guy down, with his hands held up to hold the guy away from the waitress. From outside another guy walks in, started loudly telling them not to touch his dad, while his lady companion shouts like a crazy person on about assault and calling the police, and writing online about how terrible of a business they were, etc. This whole thing came to an end when the waiter started bowing and saying I’m sorry profusely until that rude family left. Man, we felt so bad for the people working there, and waited a while before leaving, in case they do call the police on them. And I’m writing this really long review in case they write some bs later here.

Not sure how their food tastes as I didn’t get a chance to try it. Based on the experience of my first visit, I won’t bother finding out about their food anyway. My parents and I were at SF last week for a family trip. Based on the reviews, I picked this restaurant as our lunch place during the day when we visited Chinatown. It was raining so I dropped my parents in front of the entrance and watched them walking into, before driving away to find parking. When I came back, I was very surprised as they were standing at the intersection not far from Yin Du and waiting for me, in the rain. If you wondered what happened: the place was nearly empty when my parents walked in, they first sat down at a table that was set up with 4 sets of utensils, then a guy(potentially the owner) working there asked them to move to a smaller table which had 2 sets of utensils on top. My dad told the guy we actually had 3 and the other table might be too small. The guy became really annoyed and started yelling really loudly that he will add another set. Dad was shocked by his reaction and decided to leave. Since they were not familiar with the neighborhood they stayed around to wait for me… Maybe something significant will happen to the restaurant when a group of 3 sits at a table for 4, hence the yelling and screaming? Regardless, I can’t let it slide when my parents were treated rudely, I believe nobody can, even that guy at the restaurant.

For $ 4 – 5 for a bowl of noodles, you really can’t complain! This is by far my favorite place for beef brisket noodles. The beef brisket was super soft and tender and it made the soup super flavorful! I also ordered it with wontons and the wontons had huge pieces of shrimp and were very yummy! Overall, well worth!

This place is at the perfect intersection of taste(good but not fabulous), ambience(steps above divey, but not necessarily in a higher class) and price(just outright cheap!). Heck half the times when I have walked in here in the evenings, the ladies are sitting in the dining room with a giant mound of patty pork and making wontons right there! This is not going to win any awards, but are pretty good eats. Simple clean broths, nice chewy noodles and porky and shrimpy wontons grace the bowl with a nice garnish of chinese broccoli adding a touch of green to the presentation. All I know is that everytime I have been there, i have pigged out and still left with money in my pocket and there is a lot to be said about that!

Super yummy porridge and wonton soup. Super great service. Love this place. They say it’s got no MSG and I do think it’s true. This place is wicked clean and sometimes you get seated next to complete strangers :) And strangers sometimes just sit down right next to you without the host saying anything, it’s friggin awesome.

Super cheap and yummy! I ordered a bowl of wonton soup with braised beef, which cost less than $ 6. It was simple and home-y, and soooo satisfying. The portions aren’t huge, but you can size up or order more things, especially since the prices are so low. Service was decent too. I’d definitely come back!

******I would rate this negative if it were an option****** ******I first thought they were rude, but now I think they were more HOSTILE***** This has made it to the top of the bad service list. This says a lot given my expectation for Chinese restaurants is already very low. We were waiting in line on a Sunday around 1pm and three tables freed up. The folks in line were 1) a party of 2 2) me + 1 3) party of 3 4) party of 3 They seated the first party of 2 and demanded that we shared the same table that was made for 4, but with very very tight space so the meal would be extremely uncomfortable. We offered to wait. They seated the party of 3 comfortably. Then the third open table was a table for 2. I requested to sit there since, although it was still sharing with another couple, it was a bit more spacious. Then as we sat, they hushed us up and said they won’t serve us if we sat there. Instead, they told the party of 3 to take the table. They were not happy either but seeing what happened to us, they just took the offer. So we were FORCED to share a table. We were not given menus, and each waitress, along with the owner, said extremely rude and unfriendly stuff as they walked by us: 1) Don’t eat here. We don’t need your business 2) you have to sit here 3) just leave Worried that they might spit or do other disgusting things to our food after this hostile encounter, we got up and left. I’m always the table sharing type(love to share at Z&Y) but the space was extremely uncomfortable. I’m not sure why they felt it was ok to be so rude to their customers, but I would warn everyone I know to never ever visit this place.

I ordered a beef stew Togo. When I go pick it up. Total was 8.50 with tax. The portion was unbelievable small. A lady next to me was also picking up her to go said«wth this is so small, are you going to be full?» I looked at the owner and said«seriosuly this small portion»? He says«Yes eveyone gets this size». Didn’t want to be an ass hole so I took it anyway. Noodle taste blant. Soup is salty. Not enough meat. 1 string of vege…

This is a small HK style wonton noodle place, serving pretty good wonton noodle soup. The noodles are quite a bit better than average and wontons are small but tasty. I usually get the beef stew wonton noodle soup, the beef stew is nice and chewy but not too tough, with just the right amount of gristle. Strangely, they don’t have an option for extra wonton — you only get about 5 or 6 per bowl, so when I’m hungry, I like to order a side of beef tendon. The tendons have the same sauce as the beef stew, so it compliments the beef stew wonton perfectly. As typical for this type of establishment, service is very fast and efficient. The menu has a «no MSG» symbol on it, but I’m not sure if that’s accurate. Overall, I think it’s a bit better than Hon’s Wun Tun House on Kearny around the corner.

Incredible price for value! I like the broth and veggies at Yin Du more than at Hons, but I have a slight preference for Hons more al dente noodles. Overall good spot that is about equal with Hons. Don’t expect any customer service(at either venue) and prepare to share a table. They offer several sides which are as expensive as the bowls of soup. The tripe was very oily and the sauce was not good. Pro-tip: cash only.

It was very bizarre. When it comes to cravings, I normally crave flavors like chocolate, peanut butter, chocolate, jam, chocolate, coffee, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Sometimes I throw in some savory risk factors, like burgers and cheese, to round out my comorbidity spectrum. But never have I ever had such a sudden, intense craving for wontons as I did a few months ago. And by intense, I mean thought-consuming. wontonwontonwontonwontonwonton wontonwontonwontonwontonwonton chocolatewontonwontonwontonwonton wontonwontonwontonwontonwonton wontonwontonwontonwontonwonton Geez, I wish I could channel that relentless attention toward studying. I ordered #9, the roast duck wonton noodle soup, for $ 5.25, + $ 1 for extra noodles. The broth was comforting, the duck was chewy, and the wontons, though nowhere near the best, did the trick. Thumbs up to the thin wrappers. Now, back to normalcy. chocolatechocolatechocolatechocolate chocolatechocolatechocolatechocolate chocolatechocolatechocolatechocolate chocolatechocolatechocolatechocolate chocolatechocolatechocolatechocolate

Still the best! I introduced this place to my family this time after browsing around the Chinese New Year festival. No wait for the six of us! That is a major perk during this time of festivities where you would be waiting almost 15 – 20 mins elsewhere. The main compliment I heard from the family was that the noodles and gai-lan were cooked perfectly with a nice crisp. I believe the prices have went up slightly but nothing more than a quarter. Still the only place at which I would eat wonton noodle soup. Tip: Cash only!
