Really, really good sushi for the price. Fresh fish and a nice selection of specialty rolls.

I was really disappointed in You See Sushi. As others mentioned, the sushi isn’t very fresh or high quality. I was hoping the price would at least be low, but this mainly applied to lunch boxes. The Nigiri was typical prices and not worth it.

Yummy neighborhood sushi joint. Very budget-friendly prices and good sushi lunch and dinner combinations. A good place to have lunch when you are at UCSF, which is just up the street. The room is somewhat small, so you may have to wait a little bit at rush times.

I recently came and enjoyed the ambience and atmosphere. The staff is relatively friendly. This is by far one of my siblings favorite sushi bars. The dinner specials are good and the tea provided is good as well. The Unagi rolls are good although I have had better rolls at other locations. The portion size for the chicken teriyaki meal is also quite good. I recommend as a sushi bar to try. Not sure however that it meets my list of favorite sushi bars however. Maybe with additional visits I may come around. Staying optimistic …

Exactly what you’d expect for quick, cheap sushi. Nice place to grab a bento box lunch next to UCSF. For higher quality go to Ebisu.

On a light night expedition, a friend and I came to here for a fast meal. Upon opening the door we were greeted with a smile, and were seated immediately. The service was very fast, and the food was prepared well. I’ve had bad experiences with cheap sushi, but the four and five dollar rolls from You See Sushi were great! I ended up paying around eleven dollars for two sushi rolls and a bowl of Miso soup.

Cheap lunch specials! Came back with some coworkers and we each ordered a bento box with chicken teriyaki and California rolls for under $ 7 each. Good value, although the lunch time rush was a little busy.

This is a small sushi joint conveniently located near UCSF. I came here around 5:15pm on a Tuesday and we were seated immediately. The service was quick and efficient — our food took very little time to prepare. I ordered a salmon avocado roll(~$ 4) and a yellowtail scallion roll(~$ 4). The both were okay but certainly nowhere near the quality of sushi I typically eat. The fish wasn’t very fresh nor generous. The avocado was browning slightly. My friend got the teriyaki chicken bento box(~$ 8.50) — which was much more tasty than mine. I would recommend going for that rather than the sushi if you’re going to dine here.

Been going here for many, many, years… does anyone remember when it was callede«We Be Sushi.».wow, now that’s way way back. It’s a great place to get some quick Japanese Food. Sushi is okay and lunch menu is good. Not high end sushi, but it works.

Best lunch box special in SF I’ve found so far! 6.95 $ — 9.95 $ gets you a full stomach and variety of foods! I always have to come here when I’m around!

It was a Saturday night, around 9:12PM and the place I originally wanted to go to was closing in minutes so I Unilocaled the nearest place that was still open and Yoo See Sushi popped up and thank goodness they were open until 10PM because I was craving for sake bombs and sushi. The parking is typical San Francisco parking. Gotta scout out for that 2 hour parking sign and maybe try to find parking in front of the restaurant, if you’re lucky. The inside is small, there’s 2 different dining areas, my boyfriend and I were seated in the bigger dining area. There weren’t that many people out during this time and we were the only ones there, a guy eventually came in for a little bit but that was about it. Our waitress was alright, she checked in on us once and wasn’t impressionable. A little on the bland boring side, probably because it was slow and there wasn’t much to do. F O O D : I ordered #2 dinner combo: Teriyaki chicken w/tempura(veggie or shrimp), side salad and 3pcs California roll. $ 12~ Portion size is definitely worth the price. I wasn’t a fan of the side salad, but I didn’t care because the real prize of this bento was the chicken teriyaki. It was crunchy, sweet and charred enough for even my liking(and I love me some super charred food). Other reviewers mentioned that their chicken teriyaki is the BOMB.COM and I definitely put my hands up to agreement on that *insert hands up emoji*. The other sides of the bento: veggie tempura and California rolls fell flat short after I took my first bite of that sweet delicious bento entrée. Would I come back? Let’s just say that I’ve been cooking chicken teriyaki at home(not as good as You See Sushi of course) and sadly eating my failure in attempt to hold myself until I can come back here again to get more of it.

Absolutely love their unagi don(eel over rice). It’s the best eel I have ever tried, and I’ve tried unagi at every japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to. Only comment is that it’s a very small and intimate place, not a lot of seating.

No fresh fish plus the wait is not worth it! I had to get up and leave for waiting so long. I think this is convenient for some people who work and go to school at UCSF and this is the reason why people still go here… I love sushi but not over here! Even the icecream tasted like it has been near the sink where you wash dishes at. yuck

Don’t expect top quality sushi or sashimi here because this local hole in the wall is only good for lunch. Since UCSF Parnasus is right up the street, this place is a mad house during lunch time and sometimes at dinner too. I see more people taking food to go than dining in. Its local, palatable and they gave me more rice than usual. Perhaps the only drawback when ordering a nigiri or a roll is the amount of rice they really give you. I ordered an uni nigiri because I wasn’t very hungry, so like a snack. There was more rice than uni in there. FORREAL?! Lame. Ah well… I was satiated.

Very inexpensive and convenient location for anyone involed with UCSF medical center. The sushi is nothing to write home about but you can get your wasabi fix cheap and fast. Nothing we had there was bad nor was anything astounding.

With a curious name that is noticeably not Japanese-sounding, a modestly simple storefront, and too-good-to-be-true proximity to campus, you would expect Panda-Express-grade sushi. However when I Saw Sushi, it did not disappoint P: [MENU] Their menu, especially lunch specials, are very affordable(at med school, this place is referred to as student-friendly, as opposed to resident-friendly and attending-friendly). The portions are also just enough to leave you satisfied without sinking into food coma. The prices are a bit higher than Kiki’s, but quality is much better – a place where you can eat sushi and actually taste the sashimi, rather than having to order rolls slathered in sauce in order to cover up stale fish. Variety is also more limited, as you won’t be able to satisfy your oyako-don cravings, but they do have a specials menu board posted on the wall. [LUNCHSPECIAL] My favorite is the lunch special #2 with a spicy tuna roll and 4 pieces of nigiri. It comes with miso soup and a bowl of rice in teriyaki sauce – simple but good. The tea is served in these vintage mugs with cartoons of sushi, which is actually quite helpful as a quick reference guide in case you forget the Japanese names of fish. [SERVICE] Although we were off to a bit of a rocky start and had to switch tables after sitting down, overall service is very friendly; you are well taken care of by mama-sans. They were prompt and attentive, continuously checking up on us to make sure they could take our orders once we were ready. It was also very nice of them to warn me that some people don’t like the mackerel that came with my special, and that I had the option to substitute if I wanted. [AMBIANCE] The ambiance on the inside is quite nice, surpassing what you’d expect from the unpretentious green awning on the outside: clean, simple, comfortable. It’s not a big place, but does not feel cramped. There’s an aesthetic window in the middle of the restaurant, which I at first thought was a mirror illusion but it turned out to be forreals. [AFTERTHOUGHT] Note to Cal Bears: I swear, You See Sushi must be a psychological subliminal message, kindling fond memories of CU Sushi. Although the styles are quite different, the consistent quality and convenience make both a go-to student staple. In fact, I am continually mixing up the names(UC Sushi, See You Sushi… –_-) which always makes me look silly to everyone other than Golden Bears who are in the same predicament.

If you’re looking for quality sushi or sashimi, You See Sushi would probably NOT be the place to go to. But if you’re looking for a quick fix of basic and mediocre Japanese food, this would be the place. Located right down the block from UCSF(Parnassus campus), this small restaurant is usually packed between the hours of 12 to 2 pm, so be prepared to go earlier or to wait. For seven dollar Bento boxes, one gets miso soup, salad(or rice), and then anything ranging from CA rolls to spicy tuna, tempura to meat teriyakis. Not exactly the most mouthwatering thing you’ll have ever eaten, but for 7 dollars, probably more than sufficient. After all, you do get what you paid for. I did try to deviate from the norm and ordered uni nigiri(sea urchin) — $ 3.95 for 2 pieces– and I would not recommend it to anyone. Normally fresh uni is sweet/little fishy(more of an acquired taste), but here it was extremely fishy, slimy, and wet… Should’ve gone with what everyone else was ordering. Lesson learned.

Not cheap enough for the subpar sushi and fish quality across the board. Of all the salmon sashimi I’ve tried, the salmon here has by far the saddest coloring and taste. Based on the quality, I had serious doubts that the salmon they cut here is actually sashimi grade, though thank goodness it didn’t give me food poisoning afterwards. Much better off to stock up on cheap sushi fix from Nijiya Market instead, even more affordable and also quality lvl+ x100 in comparison to You See Sushi. Or, if you’re looking for a sit-down place, Tenroku is similarly priced with Nijiya Market’s fish quality.
