Brought in two pairs of jeans and tan slacks with crotch holes from biking. I can patch and sew a pant leg, but the crotch area was tough to get at. The lady sewed in strong, matching patches and went back over them many times to make sure the repair would hold. Great work and inexpensive.

The place doesn’t look like much from the outside but the service and price is unbeatable. I was looking to get a bridesmaid dress hemmed and altered, hoping to stay within a reasonable price. They not only did an amazing job on my dress, they only charged me $ 65, that’s almost $ 25 cheaper than anyone else I found in SF. I will always go back there for all my sewing and alteration needs.

I originally scoured the FiDi for an alteration place since I work in the area and only had a couple days to get my pants tailored. I was met with incredibly high prices and a lot of attitude — which was completely disgusting to say the least.
Luckily, my friend suggested I try out Young’s! They were super helpful, chill, and straightforward with timing and cost. I took my pants in to get tapered into a slimmer cut, and asked for a shorter turnaround than originally quoted — this didn’t cost me extra. My newly tailored pants are EXCELLENT… the sewing job looks just like the original and now they fit great. Needless to say, I left them a big tip, and all in all, this was half the price of any FiDi joint. Thanks Young’s!

Young’s tailors saved the day today! We needed express alterations on three bridesmaids’ sari blouses for a wedding this weekend, and the ladies at Young’s helped us out! Most impressive, they majorly altered my friend’s way-​too-​small blouse, moving fabric from the sleeves to the bust, to make it fit! On top of that, they were very kind, and made us feel relaxed in the midst of a crisis. Thank you so much!!!

They were very, very nice to me about putting a new zipper in my jeans with a same-​day turnaround. I rolled in at 10AM on a Saturday, and they were able to repair by 4 PM. For those of us that can’t sew, these people are life savers.

Always great.
In theory, I know how to sew. Being 5’0″, I’ve been hemming my own pants since high school. But Young’s does it way better and faster than I can, and for roughly the same price as a burrito from El Farolito.
I’ve brought them my fancy Hudson and AG jeans, cheap yoga pants, and even my dad’s slacks for hemming. (Once Sue, inspecting the tiny ankle of my skinny jeans, asked me incredulously, «Your foot can fit through that?») I’ve been a customer for eight years, and everything has always come back on time and nicely done.
As another reviewer mentioned, the dressing room is a small booth composed of basically a curtain. Ok, it’s not Nordstrom’s, and there is definitely no glamour lighting. But I feel fine using it.

I was looking for a tailor and went here based on the great Unilocal reviews. I took two new pairs of suit pants to be hemmed and one sweater that had a small hole to be sewn. I’m really disappointed in how all three turned out. The hem on both pairs of pants is messy and very visible, which doesn’t work for dress pants. The sweater has a mound of thread, in lieu of the small hole that was there, so it’s equally visible/​just as bad. The only plus is that their prices are low. Nonetheless, I now have two pairs of pants that need to be fixed and I sweater I still won’t be wearing, so I won’t be going back.

I have brought a number of jeans here which have been altered to fit me perfectly and they even used the same thread color if you ask. I’ve also brought a few sweaters that are very hard to alter given that they have elastic and different prints throughout. I was nervous that they might not look great if they changed the width or size of the shoulders but they all came out area. The staff is very friendly and even makes suggestions for you about how the fit will look afterwards and you can’t beat the price!

Alright, so it’s graduation season and I went around the neighbourhood looking for shops that would do a last minute alteration for a pair of slacks. My brother needed it the next day and I dropped off the pants about an hour before closing time. The lady was super helpful and attentive. The price was great and they did charge a small rush fee. The quality of the work is seamless… ha ha

NOT a cheap dry cleaners. They did a fine job, but charged me $ 96.50 to dry clean 8 dresses, 1 shirt, and 1 skirt, and a $ 3 skirt hem repair. I came here because my regular dry cleaners which is 2 blocks away, and charges half this price, was closed due to a family emergency. I should have just waited. What a rip off.
So when people say this place is cheap, they must be talking about alterations. Cause the dry cleaning is more expensive than downtown rates.

I was VERY VERY pleased with the quality of alterations I received from Young’s. I brought in: 2 pants to be hemmed (one jeans, one slacks), a pair of jeans that needed a loose zipper to be reinforced, 1 shirt to be shortened, another shirt that needed to have the (under) arm holes let out a bit, and a tank that needed the shirt straps to be shortened. That’s 6 pieces of clothing with a variety of alterations, and they all came back GREAT! I was very pleased with the service and quality here. The price was right for my non-​profit salary pocket book too…$ 46! Yup, I’ll be going back to this place often. :) You should, too!

I went in to get a bridesmaid dress that was way too big altered. She charged me a fair price ($ 48) and turned it around in just a few days. I will definitely be coming back with any alteration needs.
Only deducting one star because the changing room is a flimsy curtain with gaps in it in the front of the store that basically feels like you’re on the street. Overall it’s not the nicest place in the world, but the price is right and the work is good so I’ll take it!

I brought in three pairs of pants that were bootcut. I asked to have them made into straight cut and was quoted $ 24 per pant. When I came into pick them up, they were still bootcut, just hemmed. The owner tried to rush me out of the door without even giving me the chance to try them on. I did and asked her to redo them. Meh…
When I got home, I saw that the stitching was a mess! When you’re paying $ 24 for alterations, they should be flawless. See my picture. The stitches are not cohesive and it looks like a mess!
Don’t bother with this place.

This is my go-​to place for alterations. I brought in almost a dozen pair of jeans to get the width hemmed in (boot-​cut to skinny) and I came back a week later to find them all wearable again. It’s seriously a miracle what hemming a pair of jeans can do. I also had a few winter coats dry-​cleaned and they came out as if they were brand new again. Coming out of this place makes me feel like I got a new wardrobe– it’s a fantastic feeling.
I was also quoted a way more affordable price than other cleaners and I’m very satisfied with the outcome. Friendly service and I will definitely be coming back here for any work that needs to be done on my clothes. 5 stars.
