I’m a bit hesitant to leave a bad review for Dr. Cheng but I really wish I had one to go off of when I was picking out doctors. Here is the deal — I switched jobs — moved 20 mi to Pasadena and received new insurance. Since my last doctor(Dr. Peart in West LA) is amazing but so amazing that the wait year after year became too long, it didn’t make sense for me to drive that far and wait extra time when I can probably find a doctor closer right? WRONG. I picked out Dr. Cheng by location and I like to have a gyno as my primary physician(seems like that’s the reason for most of my visits anyway). First, I called to make an appointment and was told to call back on 3 days later to make the appt. Granted it was Friday but still. If you picked up the phone you can’t take down an appointment? When I did finally book a visit, I waited almost 1.5 hours before seeing the doctor. ANDNOONEWASINTHEWAITINGAREA! I was the only person there and even the assistant said, ‘the doctor should be here soon.’ Which meant, he wasn’t even there yet. In the same amount of time I waited, my last doctor seemed like the much better option. I’m sure it also didn’t help that I had some pretty tedious medical paperwork to be filled out for a volunteering position, but honestly… it’s a doctor’s office. Not only did they take more than a month to fill out, but it was incomplete, not signed off and not filled out properly. I provided them with all past my immunization and medical records but they still would check the wrong boxes or put N/A when it was not the case. I also specifically told them that due to my busy work schedule, I wouldn’t come by to pick up the paperwork until it was signed off and all results were in. Pat, the assistant, is as sweet as a button but consistently(1) forgets to confirm the appointment time(2) told me that everything was completed and signed(when it wasn’t) and(3) never followed up on a referral for additional ultrasound. To this day. I was so mad when I got my forms back and realized that she had missed an entire section and missed a whole list of immunizations I needed. I ended up going to travel clinic to get the shots because she took forever to get back to me. All that would not matter if Dr. Cheng was some one that I felt comfortable with, except I feel like half the time he wasn’t even listening to me. He kept asking me why I switched doctors, why I switch doctors, why I am going to him, why I switched doctors, why did I switch doctors… To top it off, he had absolutely no bedside manner. When I asked for copies of my original forms he said I was the most complicated client he’s ever dealt with. Seriously? Because I’m actually smart enough to ask for copies of MY paperwork that you want to keep? Not to mention, sternly repeating«RELAX, OK?» when your head is in between my legs isn’t going to do the trick. He wanted the contact information of my eye doctor. First name, last name, telephone number, address, etc. WHY? I have no idea, my visit had nothing to do with my vision. After my 3 visits here I am absolutely horrified, pissed off and annoyed. I have a high tolerance of society and really, I’d rather pay full price on birth control and google my symptoms online before I call in here ever again. Please find another doctor with competent staff and good communication skills. This place had neither.
