Me and two of my friends ate there last night and today three of us get sick! The meat is so not fresh, shrimp does not taste like shrimp at all, rather I feel they put too much starch in it! Also be warned the price is ridiculous. It was so not worth the quality of foods you got. But if you like to spend over 100 to get some meat that you can normally get at a ayce hot pot place, then this is your place. Bottom line: I won’t come back and I won’t recommend to anyone!

So this place is a great place for trying different types of meats and offal that you would not get in a typical hotpot place. Some of the stuff I tried: bullfrog(tastes like super tender chicken, so awesome!), pig brain(don’t knock it until you’ve tried it), pig intestine(that’s standard hotpot fare). They also have some items on skewers. The potato skewers were a bit of a fail(unwieldy, plus the potato tended to fall apart when it got too cooked, but isn’t great raw); the ice tofu slices on skewers were excellent. I would skip the skewers next time though. If you order pickles — these are Chinese style pickled mustard greens; strong flavor, boil it, don’t eat it straight. Their pot is a specialized pot; there’s a round compartment in the center which boils very quickly, and two larger«yinyang» type compartments which do not boil very much. Basically, get the most spicy broth in the center, as that’s what you’ll use to swish your meats and(probably) boil your skewers. Get the savory broth in the larger compartments to(slow cook) the other meats such as the meatballs, meat chunks, veggies, etc. I recommend the chicken broth; not a fan of the tomato broth — ketchupy. The menu is a la carte. Their large portion meats(at least the lamb and beef plates) are quite generous. Expensive? Yes. Good experience? Yes. The free sides are skimpy and skippable. Pickled cucumbers are refreshing. Focus is on the paid menu items(which are quality). The sauce bar — they have a VERY comprehensive sauce bar, in containers with ladles, squeeze bottles and even shakers(for powder spices). They even have chicken powder. Warning — be prepared to drop around $ 30 a person. We ended up spending $ 70 per person, but we ordered a TON of stuff. Service is great. If you are in a group, best to order the jug. It costs the same as about 2 glasses, but you get 4 – 5 glasses of drink out of the jug.

Found a baby ROACH crawling across the table, then landed on the dish, no joke. The waitress/cashier/manager simply took the dish away and ‘changed it’. No apology, no explanation. The aftermath that night AND the next morning is unimaginable. This is the worst Szechuan hot pot experience ever. Period. For all fairness, let’s still review their food. Having 3 soup bases is just a gimmick when the flavors lack depth but overpowered by peppercorn, chili oil and MSG. And if you must, do not order the beef soup base — its neon yellow appearance and sour dishwashing flavor are not pleasant. The design of the pot is also a complete failure when everything in the middle of pot cooked 3x faster with the soup being boiling continuously, and wouldn’t stop over flowing. The free side dishes are soaked in sesame oil. All of their condiments are LOADED with salt. The food isn’t fresh — and the ‘QQ beef’ just really pisses me off. Who would put corn starch on beef, skewer it and put it on hot pot menu. Seriously.

My date and I came to Dezhuang after going to Jazz Cat and not wanting to wait in the 45 minute line. We looked to Unilocal for help and this place was nearby with good reviews. It took us forever to find the place even with the modern convenience of navigation on our phones! The name of the place is written in English on the side facing the street, which can not be seen when entering the parking lot, whereas the door entrance has the name of the restaurant written in Chinese only. I’m ABC(American-born Chinese) and my date was Korean, you can see how this would be difficult for us. After searching for 5 minutes and entering a different hot pot place in the same plaza, we finally found Dezhaung and were glad they spoke English! If the owners are reading this, please make your restaurant easier to find! The hot pot allows you to choose from three different flavors of soup, we had the original spicy pot medium, the chicken pot and the mushroom pot. We ordered the fatty beef and sliced pork for meat, enoki mushrooms, bean curd, hot pot noodles, a-choy, mussels and the pickled vegetables for appetizer. You prepare your own sauce at the sauce station with many different things to choose from. At the sauce station there are side dishes consisting of bean sprouts, seaweed, daikon and carrots, and cucumbers. *Pot Flavors* The pot is divided in three. A pot in the middle and the remainder circumference divided into two. Please note that because the pot in the middle is centered in the fire, thus the items in this pot will cook the fastest. My date and I thought the original spicy pot with medium spiciness was actually very spicy and we both found it difficult to enjoy anything we cooked in it because it was so spicy. Don’t forget my date was Korean, who has an iron tongue for spicy food! I also didn’t appreciate the flavors as it tasted very Asian to me if that makes any sense. It tasted like a mixture of herbs and spice and I definitely wasn’t a fan. The chicken pot and the mushroom pot I could barely taste a difference especially when dipping in the sauce I created, yet they still were flavorful and made whatever was cooked in them full of flavor. *Side Dishes* My favorite side dish was the pickled cucumbers which were vinegary and sweet, refreshing. The bean sprouts tasted like the Korean side dish type you get at KBBQ. I liked it. The daikon and carrot had nothing special about it. I thought the seaweed had a weird taste too it and it was too salty, as did my date. He liked the bean sprouts and the cucumbers as well. *Pickled Vegetables* If you’re looking for veggies that taste like Japanese style cucumbers or the veggies inside of Bun Mai, these are not it! The veggies were vinegary and spicy and not sweet. I thought they were okay and my date didn’t even touch them. *Fatty beef and fatty pork* Thinly sliced and delicious. The server said each meat portion was good for two people, yet my date and I polished off two servings of meat easily. I also have an appetite similar to a man’s, as I LOVETOEATMEAT! *Bean Curd* If you’ve eaten hot pot before, this is not the rolls of bean curd that you are used to. This is strings of bean curd that are similar to noodles and the texture is thick and chewy. NOT A FAN. Whomp whomp whomp… *Vegetable and mushroom* You can’t mess these up! I thought this place was just average. Meh…

Ate here last night. It was great. Everything was fresh and really yummy. The broths were top notch and the sauces were great. Highly recommended for hot pot!

This place is not bad but i didnt like the sauces they had. It was not tasty at all. Also the soups are very spicy if you choose the spicy one. The good thing is their portions are quite big so you get left overs. Overal not bad.

The service was good they always refill your water and napkins. I had dropped a pair of chopsticks and the server noticed right away and grabbed me a new pair. They have a wide variety of items for you to hot pot we got the lamb and beef thinly sliced. We also ordered alot of sides such as lotus root, quail eggs, spinach, tofu, etc. You get to choose 3 different soup bases theres 2 large sides and one circle smaller base in the center i believe we ordered chicken, mushroom and the house special. If you cant eat spicy i wouldnt recomment the house special but i personally loved that one ! The mushroom soup base would be my second favorite ! The chicken soup base had chicken bites inside of it wasn’t too salty just right. They have a dipping sauce bar with a wide variety of sauces as well.

Do like their sauce bar. Their medium spicy broth & the sour version of it is in actuality — incredibly spicy — not that it’s a bad thing. I like that they don’t lower the spiciness to Americanize it. But nothing in the items that we ordered stood out. They were all of standard quality but from the meats to the vegetables — it felt like it was just stocked up, without any creativity. Pot can allow for 3 soups — but though the broth and the sauces lived up to expectation — the ingredients did not.

Hot pot usually does not capture my attention nor do I crave it when hunger sneaks up on me. But this spot really did surprised me. The table space(elbow space) to eat is quite roomy and there are shelves on the sides of the table for you to put extra plates of food or plates you are finished with. Since the tables were so big we were able to fit most of our food on the table and able to cook a variety of items at once. I was surprised that their soup bases were quite tasty unlike some of the other hot pot places where they give you bland soups, leading you to rely on the sauce for flavoring. The soup is actually something I would drink because it had great flavor. I enjoyed all three choices of soup base we had in our divided pot. Even the spicy soup base tasted good but it was medium spicy which was a bit more than I can handle. The meats were generous amounts; all nicely cut and perfect meat to fat ratio. I am usually not a big fan of lamb but it was quite tasty with the beancurd sauce. Not to mention the DIY sauce station where you can try any and all the sauces you like. It is convenient having most of their items on skewers which makes it easier to grab your food when it is cooked; instead of fishing for it with your chopsticks and slotted scoops deep inside the sea of soups. All the meats and veggies were good and perfect for the cold night. With this cold weather I will probably returning very soon.

Nothing is ready by the time they are open at 1230am. New hired knows nothing about the menu. But flavor is good. All skewers are overpriced.

I had run through so many hot pot places, this newly open SiChuan style hot pot. Is dope! Honestly, I don’t know how to describe the freshness of the food they prepare! Just fresh, clean, & after cook delicious taste! Service! Brilliant… Never miss out a things that you ask! The pot is different than other store. This store gave you three type of soup base of your choices. I’m loving it! Sauces, many many choices. Do whatever fit your taste. Give it a shot, hope it doesn’t disappoint you.

Hot pot places are poppin’ up everywhere and with the temperatures dropping, Dezhuang is a welcomed addition. I came here to sample their offerings one rainy evening and thoroughly my experience there. At this establishment they allow patrons to sample three different broths and my table opted for two non-spicy options(mushroom and chicken). Our third choice was a house special beef which was extremely spicy and only one person in our table ate from it, but to each his own :) One thing that distinguishes them from other hot pot places is their skewers — my favorite being the Taiwanese sausage and shrimp. They also have many traditional items including beef, tofu, vegetables, etc, and my table was satisfied with portions and offerings. Overall, I had a great time and would welcome a second visit.

Tucked away in a plaza on Valley Blvd with plenty of downstairs and street parking. It’s decent size restaurant in the corner of the plaza serving traditional Szechuan style hotpot. There’s an side area for sauces! Mines are always pile high lol. The menu has an ample of choices ranging from soup bases, veggies and variety of meats. You get to choose 3 soup based??? Yesss, Please! We didn’t specify we wanted the smaller side with spicy medium soup, it was very spicy. Great flavoring but we had to limited the use.=X The meat was tender and fatty, balanced the fat to lean meat ratio. Another plus was the soup flavors and meat! Some of the meat were served in skewers! Such a great idea instead of fishing for some of the items when is done. Overall very impressed with the food quality and the service. Thank goodness for the menu otherwise I’ll have a hard time naming things. =x Very attentive service throughout our meal! That’s always a plus!

Wow this brand new hot pot place rocks! Seems the most authentic Chongqing style hot pot I have ever been to. Served in a bronze pot and up to three soup base can be ordered at one time. Fun for family and group dinner. The skewers are the best. I had the tendon and shrimp. My all time favorite are Hotpot Sliced Beef and lamb, which are also very tasty. By the way, The DIY dipping sauce station serves small side dishes. The cucumbers are surprisingly good! Last of all, reasonable priced menu offers both small or large portion. I highly recommended the Plum drinks. Definitely becoming my go to place for hotpot cravings now.

Seems like there are so many hot pot restaurants popping out towards end of the year. I think instead of focusing on food, most of them are just trying to cash in during winter hot pot season. But not here, this place is definitely #1 on my sichuan style hot pot list right now. I think the management really put a lot of thoughts on the quality of their food. Food: They use this unique cool looking hot pot with three different sections of broth. The middle section is specially made for skewers. The spicy broth here is one of the kind. Its not just over the top spicy like most other hot pot places, you can actually taste the flavor they put in it. They’ve good selection of food, and the quality of food they serve here is excellent. Foods here are all super fresh, from the meat, tendon, shrimp to tofu, veggie and etc,. Freshness of food is most important when it comes to hot pot. Not to mention their sauces are great too. Not overly msg or salty. Location: Great location. It’s in a plaza on the restaurant infested Valley blvd. at San Gabriel. Which is very easy for people to find. Doesn’t seem like there are a lot of parking spaces. Parking might be a problem during weekend. Service: Servers are very friendly and attentive. This place is very clean, especially for a hot pot restaurant. Table is not greasy and tableware is super clean. Price: Very reasonable priced for the quality of food that they’re serving. Compare to the price of other new hot pot places are charging, this place is relatively cheap. This is the only Chinese hot pot place I been to that is excellent all around. From service, food, broth, all the way to the sauce. I hope they keep up the good work. I’ll definitely recommend this place to all my friends. Can’t wait to come back again!!!

This is a great hot pot place that brings back memories from home. The pot is not your average hot pot like Little sheep the spicy is actually spicy with a bit of numbing. Meat is nicely cut and I like how a few of the items are on skewers making it like a fondue way of eatting. This is a great place for large group on a cold California night.

Did I mention the owner is cute? Oh wait, I haven’t typed anything yet. Lol. So a friend invited me to hotpot because hotpot is your best food friend during the cold, and because it’s awesome. Well this place lived up to the status, especially if you like spicy, because medium level already burns.(I can’t do spicy) First, the unique pot comes with three parts, hence you can order up to three soupbase per pot, a very useful pot! Make sure to tell them which soup you want to place in the center part so you don’t have your favorite soup in the tiniest surface(look at the picture). Most of the food comes in sticks(boiling skewers?) which makes«fishing in the sea» a lot friendlier and less aggressive/messy. Everything is pretty fresh with decent amount of choices. Soup base wise I really like the mushroom. Overall, it’s a good choice for group food/hotpot.

This is the newest hot pot in 626, It seem to me that a new hot pot open every few weeks in this area this days. This was 2188 Spicy Shrimp not very long time ago and was open earlier this year. Business is extreme competitive in this area. It is very good for customer since we had so choice to choose when comes to Chinese food. This is a sichuan style hot pot, their spicy broth is a lot spicier than like what you find in little sheep and boiling point. Their mild spicy is equal to extra spicy in my opinion. I came here during a raining day which was perfect. They had good variety of selection of meat, veggies option is somewhat limited. I wish they had more. Their tofu dish is good quite fresh I like their hidden storage int he side of the table make it a lean way to save space. Service is quite good and fast response. This is a small restaurant not many tables. Many meat and seafood are put in a steel skewers which make it very easy to keep track your food ! There’s a tray just design to store all those steel skewers stick. It seem to be the amount of authentically chinese food in this area had been exploded in recent years. Which is a good thing it give people a lot of choice and remind them of back home also great for first timer. This all will give ideas of what kind of foods people eat back in China that is miles different than Panda Express.
