Came here because I was craving for some burrito and wanted to find a place near home so that I’m not always eating at King Taco. After Unilocaling Mexican restaurants in San Gabriel Valley near my sons school I decided to try out this place. It first began with a friendly welcome but ended up horribly. After ordering my burrito I went and got my salsa since I enjoy eating in the comfort of my own home. I was grabbing some radish because I enjoy eating it with my burrito. One of the workers then comment on how much radish I grabbed and I thought he was just making fun of me because I grabbed quite a lot of one person(I love eating radishes so I grabbed a fairly generous amount). After I was done grabbing my condiments I went to grab my order that was waiting for me at the pick up counter, the same guy then comments on the amount of salsa I grabbed and demanded that I paid for it. After having such a horrible experience in the restaurant, I went home hoping that their burrito would make me want to return despite of the bad service I got, but to my disappointment, it wasn’t flavorful. I used a lot of salsa because their salsa is super watery and it wasn’t even spicy at all. After trying their burrito I’m glad that I grabbed a lot of salsa because I needed a lot just to give my burrito some flavor. I definitely would not return to this place because of their customer service and their burrito wasn’t what I was hoping for.

My favorite go-to Mexican place. The food is great, everything on the menu is delicious! I usually get the #23 Mexicali Grilled Chicken plate, the chicken is very tender and not dry at all. The service is pretty good too. The cashier is very nice to all customers and the staff almost always acknowledges everyone that walks through their doors. This place is great to have a beer, with some great Mexican food and watch some sports on their two TVs. Come early though because their parking lot does get crowded!

I’m pretty fond of this place for the most part. It’s pretty good affordable Mexican food. Their nachos are pretty good. I used to really like their chicken tortas but they’ve been dropping the ball on them lately. I used to get them a lot before but now they’re just messy, they changed the bread and it gets real soggy quickly and just starts to fall apart. There’s hardly any chicken it’s loaded with beans and veggies more than anything. It disappoints me that their tortas have gone down this way :(but overall I still like the place, I’m just staying away from their tortas sadly!!! Macho grande burrito is good too. Messy but filling.

This is THE place for fish tacos north of the border. The fish fillets are deliciously deep fried and the tortillas taste like they are fresh off the comal. On too of all these pros, the prices are amazingly low.

Came here a while back with my gf. I just forgot to update it until now. I used to like this place but not anymore. I felt like I was being discriminated. They gave me attitude and refused to give me water after I ordered some food here. I asked them nicely for water and they replied in spanish to me and told me I have to pay two dollars for a cup of water. Food was just alright but I would not come back here.

Wow! This place is awesome! My wife and I were on vacation in LA from Kansas City and needed some authentic Mexican food on our last day before returning home. We stopped by Macho’s for breakfast and had the chilaquiles con chorizo which really hit the spot. We had heard how wonderful the fish tacos are so ordered one to share and wished we had ordered more it was so good! Also delicious were the refried beans which tasted like my grandfather’s and the flour tortillas which tasted fresh and homemade!

Ordered the chicken salad. Chicken was very bland on top of some romaine and guac. Wasn’t really something I enjoyed. No flavor But their fish taco was really good:) order what they specialize in I would say. Employees were nice

I had a craving for something different from the regular Asian fare around San Gabriel and stumbled upon this great little joint. I ordered the Carne Asada and Eggs(over easy) and it met all my expectations. The meat was tender and not over seasoned(a flaw common to many Latin joints), the eggs were perfectly over easy and the refried beans home made. What else can you ask for? Their menu is varied and everything seems truly homemade and fresh. I will return.

I had called to inquire about getting some catering for a dinner. I spoke to one of the owners over the phone and he was very professional and helpful. As I explained what I was interested in, he offered options to get more for my money and what may work better for me. As we picked up our order, let’s just say… he hooked it up! We ordered many hard shell tacos and they generously put all the fixings on the side.(Lettuce, cheese, sour cream, tomato, salsa, and even chips) The food was delicious. I would definitely recommend Machos for your catering. Thanks again!

I had such a great experience! The vibe was amazing it felt like I was reliving childhood memories of visiting my grandparents. A genuine taste to Mexican food. And the service was great. I recommend the chilaquiles plate. I will diffidently come back. Great job mi gente!

The bad: They microwaved my food in front of me. They forgot my shrimp taco, I carried my own food to my table, the enchilada was a little salty, and the food overall lacked spice. The salsas did not add much spice. The tamarind was very sugary and did not drink it. All the food was just poured/placed on a plate and microwaved(except shrimp taco) The place looks little run down, tables weren’t perfectly clean, and pictures weren’t straight on the walls. Just feel lazy. The good: Shrimp taco was pretty good, just needed some spice to it, good texture and size, good tartar sauce. The enchiladas and chile relleno were decent, nothing fancy, but enjoyable. Rice was moist for having sat for awhile, beans were good, right amount of salt. Paid $ 22.50 for two plates a drink and a shrimp taco. There’s so many Mexican restaurants in the area, and this place is just mediocre.

Being Mexican I don’t care to go out for Mexican food but when I do I come here. Everything we’ve ever ordered here was DELICIOUS! Their shrimp tacos are the best! I also really like the steak picado. Today I had chicken enchiladas, which were just as delicious as everything else I’ve ate here. We drive about 20 mins to eat here regularly.

I come here for their fish tacos! My favorite taco truck doesn’t open until 7 p.m. but fortunately, the boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place one hungry afternoon. We decided to give this place a chance and we have no regrets! PARKING Very small parking lot but street parking is available. INTERIOR/ENVIRONMENT Nothing flashy on the inside/outside but they have an extensive menu ranging from appetizers, individual items, and combos. Several tables available — very simple place. The boyfriend and I like to come here when we feel like grabbing tacos but dining in. The place can get busy with to-go orders, but we never had to wait too long. FOOD To be frank, I only come here when I am craving fish tacos! Their tacos are bigger than average size and cost about $ 1.25 which is such a steal. Two of those tacos are enough to satisfy my craving and fill me up! SERVICE The staff is very nice and patient. I’ve only seen two workers but they are fast and efficient in sending orders out.

Unilocal 2015 Challenge #57 TL;DR– good cheap tacos Continuing with the day, after eating half the Claro’s sandwich, drinking tea, my friend and I then decided to head to Macho Café. Where is this? It’s off San Gabriel Road on Mission Road. Be careful, you might miss it! Parking is either in the über tiny plaza(with the cleaners taking most of the spots), or on the street. I chose the latter because the one spot that was available was like parallel parking. Much difficulty for me. Going in, you see a «crowded» restaurant– crowded more because it’s small, but you still have to give them credit by attracting people here! We waited about 3 – 5 minutes in line to order, and guess what? $ 1.25 shrimp and fish street tacos. Yes. Apparently they make their shrimp and fish after you order it(deep fry), and the whole process takes some time x_X After about 10 minutes, it comes out, and we drive to a secret location that I will not disclose here to eat it.(we needed shade lol). Missing some spice was my first thought, but I love deep fried stuff haha. Both shrimp and fish came out after you tore threw the outside, and mixed together with everything else? NOM. *May or may not give you gas* :P

I’m updating my review because they no longer have 99 cent tacos :(Tacos are now around 1.79, but you can still get combos for 6.99+. Still a good place to eat though since you get some legit Mexican food, but not exactly the cheapest anymore. Very sad that they removed the 99 cent tacos.

Came back to Macho for some tacos! Price has gone up to $ 1.25. But still a steal! Fish Taco — $ 1.25 — Perfectly fried fish with a nice fresh salsa and crema. I like it better then Taco Nazo. Shrimp Taco — $ 1.25 — Fried shrimp taco in a taco, cannot beat that! Fresh and cheap. YUM!!!

Not a bad little hole in the wall for Mexican food, though I am sure there are plenty of restaurants around this area to compete with. The inside isn’t anything too fancy but nothing to be afraid of, they do have an ‘A’ rating posted outside of their window. You order at the counter and find yourself a seat, they do have a bench table located outside as well if you’d like to enjoy the weather. I ordered a fish taco plate which consisted of two fish tacos(Lightly Battered Tilapia), beans and rice. The tacos were pretty delicious, beans and rice well not so much but not horrible either. The service was fairly good and the price was definitely right. If I were in the area again and was in need of a quick bite I’d probably stop by again.
