If I can give 0 stars, I would. Wanted potential customers and current customers to be aware.
Let me preface with the fact that I am a certified public accountant, but with my experience mostly with Fortune 500 and publicly traded companies. Thus, I don’t prepare my parents’ annual personal tax return as my experience with that is fairly limited. However, even with my limited knowledge, it is very clear that this company led by Ming Du does not know what they are doing.
My parents came in for preparation help with IRS Form 1040A for 2011. The preparer excluded the educational credit that my parents could claim for paying my brother’s tuition – a $ 100 reduction in taxes paid! When we confronted her about this, her response was that this is the way they do it — they don’t take the educational credit. That itself is very ignorant and irresponsible of her and the company. To not even consider a client’s suggestion by sticking hard to their established ways that prevents taxpayers from saving on their taxes owed is outrageous.
Second, they do not allow their clients to opt out of electronically filing the return, which the IRS allows if a taxpayer requests. She also charges $ 10 for e-​filing when my parents could have sent in the return via snail mail for free. To add icing to the cake, this weekend, we received a notice from the IRS that they did not receive my parents’ 2011 tax return. This was the same return that Ming Du allegedly e-​filed for us! We were quite frustrated and upset with the type of service and level of expertise from the 2011 tax return preparation process that after April 2012, we were ready to forget about this and move on. But with this notice in the mail that the return wasn’t even filed, I could not believe it. This is COMPLETELY IRRESPONSIBLE for an tax preparer, even if you are not a certified public accountant. We paid additional money to have a return filed electronically and even Ming Du cannot get that right! THIS IS SO SO SO UPSETTING! I will be filing a formal complaint with the IRS against this company.
