William’s Piano

Great little place. A place to buy used Yamaha pianos that look brand new. I know nothing about music but wanted to buy a piano for my son. William was very knowledgable and informative. He would talk to you and explain everything to you as long as you have time. I bought a beautiful used U3 that no one knew it was used at a very reasonable price. The piano was delivered the next day and he personally came to make sure the delivery didn’t scratch the piano nor alter the sound.

William’s Piano is a fantastic place to buy a used Yamaha upright piano (U1 and U3) imported directly from Japan. William himself is very helpful, informative and generous with his time. I purchased my U3 from him in the summer and love it, use it daily for writing and recording.

Saw an ad on Craigslist for adjustable piano benches for $ 88. Called and set up an appointment with William for an hour and a half later.
Arrived at the specified time and met William. The bench that he had already assembled had a small chip in the lacquer, so I requested another one. He and I put it together on the spot and made sure that it didn’t rock. Price was as agreed upon.
During this I learned that Dick grew up in China but went to music school in the states and now teaches out of the piano store. He is personable and passionate.
Would do business with again.

It was okay. My violin sucked, its top bridge was too high, I didn’t know much about Violins, so I didn’t know which one was good, I just liked the color, so it sucked. My case came with a bow that I still use today, rosin that broke, and a violin that wasn’t good quality. The case didn’t break, the zippers stayed on. I got annoyed when my friend go a Violin Blanket, and better rosin than I did. Maybe when I bought mine, he decided to buy better violins. I want a refund but there’s no refunds or exchange. Also, MAKE SURE YOU WANT YOUR VIOLIN. It was a waste of 50 $.

William himself is awesome. He’s a piano teacher. He showed me a little bit of piano.
I was looking for some violins, ⁴⁄₄ full size for myself since I’m a beginner violinist. I want to buy an easy violin, not too expensive. So I went and bought a violin, and surprisingly, they’re 50% off! So I bought one that was $ 180, so now it would be $ 90, and the quality isn’t that bad… It also includes with the case, (it has a violin blanket in it), then he gave me some rosin, and a brand new bow.
He’s really awesome to that he teaches me a little on how to tune with the pitch pipe tuner. He showed me the bow and told me all about rosins and how to get the bow to make sounds. He’s really nice and cool, and awesome! Definitely recommend to come here if you’re a beginner on violin, piano, or guitars. The shop might be small though, but he is COMPLETE with every thing you need.

So I been looking for a place to buy a piano for my Mom’s new place. When I was a kid, I had a piano similar to the Yamaha U-​3 so I wanted to get one for my mom for her birthday. Like all asian families, we had Piano lessons as a kid where we soon after gave it up. lol… I been practicing on the low low and wanted to surprise my mom for her birthday so i called around a few places.
I visited a lot of different stores for piano brand/​price comparison and this one was the most reasonable. I spoke to William on the phone and maybe because he had my same name or I also liked the vibe he game me. I told him what I was trying to do where I think he appreciated my effort and answered all my questions esp as a noob.
I then set a time to come and visit. I noticed some of the reviewers complained about the lack of «service» from William, but when it’s mom and pop owned, don’t expect large-​retail chain service. I actually like the fact it’s mom and pop owned as I’m a business owner myself so I like to support the local businesses. I’m not really into that corporate sales pitch and training anyways. What I can tell you is that it’s best to schedule an appointment with him because it’s a pretty small business and YES, you can write down the serial numbers on the pianos. You can’t take photos, but he was totally fine with me writing them down. Ended up purchasing a used Yamaha U-​3 and he even threw in a free tuning. Can’t beat that! Been very happy with my purchase so far surprised the mom’s and everything is great.

Stay away from this shop and from William. I called him on Sunday and he told me he would be open until 4:30, and as long as I got there before then, I’d be able to look at his pianos. I got there at 3:45 to look at one of the U3s he had advertised. I started to play it and he told me to stop because he had a piano lesson going on in the store. «Make an appointment», he said. When I told him I effectively had, that I had driven TWO hours from Los Angeles, and that I wouldn’t be back if I couldn’t look at the pianos as promised, he responded: «Are you ready to buy right now?» Meaning he would show me the piano and let me play it only if I would buy it. What an absolute joke.
It gets better. I tried to take pictures of a few of the serial numbers, and he went crazy, telling me the serial numbers were confidential and I wasn’t allowed to take pictures.
For those buying used pianos, you should never do so unless you verify the age the dealer is telling you the piano is. The only way to do this is through the serial number. (Yamaha’s site lets you cross reference the serial number with the age.) If the dealer doesn’t want you to know the serial number, he is a crook.
Upshot: William is rude and dishonest and doesn’t deserve anybody’s business.

We recently bought an upright, Kawai piano from this place and love it. William was very professional, knowledgable and also gave us a personal demonstration of the piano’s quality. This is our first piano purchase so we’re not sure of what’s a competitive price but our final price was very reasonable. He was able to meet our budget. Delivery service is outstanding as we got the piano the next day! Piano lessons are also available at this location. We give this place two thumbs up!

I purchased a violin for my friend’s daughter from this store couple wks ago. Selection was decent so I chose a ⁴⁄₄ acoustic violin. She loved it and says it’s working out well for her after-​school lessons. Recommend others to check this place out… prices are better than most and the guy was helpful.

I stopped in to this shop to take a look at pianos with my girlfriend. While I am currently renting an apartment, I had no desire to actually follow through with a purchase of a piano. Even though I made this clear to the owner, he still took the time to show us his piano offerings and even played us a medley of songs. You can really tell that the owner has a passion for music and what he does, which for me, is always the first sign of someone that I would want to do business with.
As for price, the pianos seemed more than fair and he had offerings to meet any budget (as long as you’re reasonable in your expectations). He also had some guitars and violins on the wall which wouldn’t seem to break the bank, but I didn’t pay too close attention to them as I was still racking my brain trying to figure out the names to some of the songs he played for us =)
Although I didn’t walk out with a piano that day, Williams Piano would definitely be my first stop when I’m in the market for one.

We have shopped around in many other piano stores which recommended by other friends. And this store offered us the best price. The dealing process was fair. The piano was delivered in an excellent condition, tuned and on time. I highly recommend this business.

Absolutely the worst! This man is a crook!
I saw his advertisement on craigslist for piano benches and gave him a call to ensure the one I wanted from his pictures was available. He assured me it was. After driving for two hours in LA traffic to his store not only is that bench unavailable but the selection is awful. I finally decided to settle on one of the benches he had there only to discover he upped the price and his credit card machine «just broke» and he wanted cash. I went to a nearby ATM pulled out the exact amount and when I got back he informed me that there would also be a extra service charge. At that point I left. This man is rude, and a cheat. Save your time and money! The items were awful quality anyway.
