This is one of the most amazing Asian oriented DVD/VCD rental shop there has got to be. My family have been renting DVDs here since they’ve opened up back in 2000. Like any typical Asian oriented movie rental place… membership is prepaid. This place has two options. $ 100 prepaid gives you 90 rentals while $ 50 prepaid gives you 38 rentals. Service is mediocre but they’ve got the largest selection and best pricing in town. Best of all, everything is original and not the bootleg version. They pretty much have all the chinese hong kong oriented DVD that has ever came out. Movies from like, Stephen Chow, Chow Yun Fat, Andy Lau, Sammi Cheng and much more. All the hong kong movies comes with VCD selections as well. They also carry TVB dramas in both cantonese and mandarin in DVD formats. What I love about these dramas is that they actually have english subtitles. For drama rentals, 2 episodes counts as one rental. Next comes their huge selection of now very popular Korean dramas. Most are dubbed to mandarin or comes with chinese subtitles. The other big thing I like about this place is the American movie selection. They get new releases everyweek and alot of times before blockbuster releases them. The only bad thing is that they only have like 6 copies of every new release. So it’s like a first come first serve basis. If you have siblings or kids that loves cartoons or Karoake, they carry that as well. Okay fine… there’s also this section for ADULT entertainment which they place up high in a rack so that kids can’t run into it by accident which I find quite considerate. How do you rent? Well, All the DVD cases they place outside for browsing are empty but labeled with numbers. You simply pick out what you like and just hand them the case. They will then pull out your selection from their drawers placed in these nice clear sturdy disc holders. To check out after opening an account is to sign off your signature on a piece of rental log paper. Even you’re looking for DVD rentals around the area for a great price then this has got to be the place. 100 dollars + tax might sound alot but if you divide it up it’s only $ 1.20 per movie. Their rental policy is that new releases are only for one day rental(no matter how many you rent). Old release are 1 movie for 2 days, 2 for 3 days, 3 for 4 days, 4 for 5 days and 5 for a week. In order to join their membership you just need a photo license or id plus credit card for deposit. They don’t charge your credit card but just take down the number just incase we run off. No worries with the credit card because I’ve been renting there for year and it’s safe. Cmon, they’re just simple family oriented neighborhood business where they just want to make a living. I usually swing by this place on a Friday night to pick up a couple of movies to enjoy with my friends and some to take back to school for the week. I dorm by the way. =)
