Huge disappointment. Maybe it was the 15 minute walk back to my office, but the arepas was hard to chew. The beef was almost inedible. Little flavor, no cheese, no avocado, no love. Little bit of a language barrier. Nice people, but huge waste of money. I was so looking forward to finding a gluten free alternative for lunch. Will not be back.

I was really looking forward to this. Ever since I had arepas in Brooklyn, I had been missing this awesome food… so I was overjoyed to see it in San Pedro Square. BUT. I wasn’t that hungry. I had just had a mediocre hot dog and thought to myself– i could use a snack, i don’t want a full meal. So i went and looked for the cheapest item on the menu… which was an order of cheese empanadas. When I got them, I was excited. Fresh out of the fryer. They were HUGE. Much bigger than i expected. I was happy about this. I took my first bite. Crispy on the outside. The first bite of cheese was wonderful and just the right temperature in that it didn’t burn my mouth… but then something didn’t feel right about this… but I went in for my second bite anyway. And I realized why the outside bite was not searing hot– because the inside was still cold. And the cheese was a little watery and not stringy. My theory is that they had these pre-made and frozen and that they didn’t fry it long enough. The cheese had not completely melted and was still melting(hence the water) It’s too bad. I plan to try out their arepas soon. I’m willing to give them a second chance. But until that second chance, I can only give 2 stars.

I was looking forward to having Colombian food. The appearance and menu looked ok. I Really hate to say this butt… This is not Colombian food! I was very disappointed. Presentation taste, price and portion size was bad.

This place is deliciously great. What a refreshing spot with Colombian food. Plantains, arepas, beans and empanadas. Give it a shot and don’t forget it’s ColOmbian with an O not columbian lol. Try the aji, the apple soda and the flan.

Tried the arepa and patacon. Chicken was definitely bland. Beef was meh. Even though the lady working there was nice, the food was just not special enough for me to come back.

I’m very sad to post a bad review on this establishment. I want to support small business and particularly a latin one… However. I’ve tried this place twice and it went from so-so to just plain bad… First time the food wasn’t memorable, my patacon was cold(it’s supposed to be crunchy) and the empanadas were apparently re-fried so they had this very cardboard-dy texture, yet, I was craving patacon so badly I just ate my food. Even the«Colombiana»(colombian soda) was warm, and they didn’t even offer ice, on top of it, the service was rather slow, on that day, there were just a few customer(4 probably) and my food took 15+ minutes to come out. The second time was yesterday, on our way to a concert at the SAP center. I suggested this place to my Colombian friends so we could enjoy some Colombian fare before heading to the concert(which featured a Colombian artist)… Have to say, the experience was horrible… Arepa y Mas was not even remotely ready to handle the extra customers. There was only ONE cook and the guy at the register was incredibly stressed. We waited, 50MINUTES! yep. 50MINUTES for our food and when we went to check there were still 10 orders before ours. We had 2 patacon orders(that is a fried plantain with some shredded meat on top) and an order of empanadas(which you just have to fry!) plus 2 very warm Colombianas. This is unacceptable and extremely poor management from this place. We asked for our money back and went around the corner where we got falafel wraps in less than 5 mins. Mind you, the food here is pretty much assemble and fry!!! there is no reason why we were made to wait for so long and still didn’t get our food. We asked for our money back, so did all the people on our group. Arepa y Mas lost, not only dollars from us last night, but lost our patronage forever. Poor planning and service for average food(and warm drinks) It’s a shame! but I’m not coming back and will never recommend.

Stumbled upon this location because a near by Latin joint was closed. For me, thank god! I’m not a real fan of the«other» place. This place is a Colombian version of tapas. Arepa sandwiches, empanadas and other small serving of foods. Wife got their arepa with ham and tomato. Arepa toasted perfectly. Ham is real ham, as in «off the bone». I got the special treatment. Their order of empanadas come in 3. Chicken, beef or cheese. I wanted to try one of each, but they would don’t it. They should add that choice. But they did allow me one chicken with 2 beef. The chicken got better as I ate. So good, it disappeared before I gave some to my wife. The beef empanadas were fantastic. Nice spice with peas and potatoes. They serve their empanadas with a habanero sauce. Good sauce but I really wanted Aji. Aji would have been 5 stars. If the food is the same next visit, I will bump to 5.

Five stars for smiles, 3 stars for the chicken empanadas. They were greasy, oily, and overdone. Flavor was good, and the choice of two sauces was a nice touch.

I came to this place today by my friend recommendation. It was so easy to find a parking across the street at Market San Pedro building. I walked only 5 minutes. I found this place to be comfortable plenty of chair and tables(very clean). I found the owner at the counter she gave me a nice welcome to her business. She took time to offer me different plates patiently until I asked my order. I seat and waited only few minutes then I got«Arepa work at de Pollo» it was just delicious, great taste from beginning to end. I also tried empanadas they were so yummy as well. I just want to recognize the team work at Arepas & Mas, plus The kitchen is clean and staff is very friendly. I truly recommend this place to anyone.

What a nice place I always came here with my family. We eat empanadas, Arepas de pollo and Arepas de carne. I have to mention that we sometimes eat pataconas with Carne and pollo as well. Sauces are so delicious, I ordered natural juices for all of us and imported Colombian beverages. Waiting time was fair, plaza was quiet. I love Arepa & Mas I will keep coming with my family non stop 10⁄10 for this place

Had the chicken arepa. $ 8.50ish. Chicken was super salty and bread was stale. The staff were polite though. Not coming back.

I was super excited when I heard that a Colombian restaurant was open right next to my work. I have lunch there at least once a week and love it every time. The juices are amazing and the chicken arepa is my favorite. I Really recommend the place and on top of everything the owners are super nice.

The food taste’s good and is well prepared and presented. I have been here about 4 times and will continue to bring friends. It is a good introduction to Colombian style food. Worth trying if you its new for you, it’s like and upgraded Taco, corn base or plantain base plus choice of meat.

Ordered the chicken empanadas on a Tuesday at 2pm. I was the only customer at that time. The cashier lady told me it’ll be done in 7 minutes. I waited patiently at the tables nearby. 7 minutes went by. Would glance at my watch and then make eye contact awkwardly with the cashier lady over the next minutes hoping she would read my mind as to «I’m hungry and where are the empanadas?!» Definitely took a while for the food to be done. The empanadas were ok… the fried dough is very thick. The filling was tasty and flavorful but was overpowered by the thick fried dough. I do want to come back and try the arepas though. Will also time and see how long the food will take…

Arepas, patacones, empanadas, arroz con leche, some colombians sodas… This place has very good food. The bad thing is that I just wanted some patacones to eat them with a fried rice that i bought but they dont sell them like that, i mean, they would but you will have to charge you the whole value of the patacon even if it doesnt have the sauces on it. still you have to come here!!!

i cant tell if this is truly different from Arepa Swing that used to be here. I do know however that my carne mechada was solid. The crisp on the corn meal outside was good but it seems to miss the soft pillowy inside that Im used to from my past arepa experiences. This soft inside also is key to soaking up the juices and such from the filling. So part way through the arepa, the paper wrapper just soaked and broke like a pregnant woman with her water. Boo I lost all the good cooking liquid!
