Although today the Chris combo sandwich was not as amazing as my last visit, it is still pretty damn good. I think what makes this sandwich so good is the dressing used in it. This time, it was a little on the dry side that I was jew’d on the sauce. I’ll make sure to ask for extra sauce next time. As for the raviolis, the raviolis. I guess they’re good.(I’m not too big of a fan for red sauce)

Food is amazing but the service is terrible. If you’re not one of the Willow Glen elite or you’re a shade darker than white don’t expect to be treated nicely.

My favorite is the parmesan chicken sandwich and the cheese ravioli it’s so good !! The only down side to this place is that the parmesan is only served on Thursdays !!! It makes me so sad. Another thing that makes me really uncomfortable is that both of the times I’ve been the staff just stares at you blankly and are not friendly at all what so ever it makes me not want to return.

Bertucelli’s is part café/deli and part grocery store. If you’re planning to grab some eats, take a number when you first get there. Stood there for 5 minutes before I realized they were calling out numbers lol. The ticket dispenser is on a pole to the right of the door when you walk in. Everybody got the ravioli so that’s what we ordered too! RAVIOLI — Pockets of deliciousness! We had the beef/spinach. Their marinara sauce is tangy and savory. Would recommend getting the Quart size for sharing with 2 – 3 people. SPAGHETTI — I didn’t have this, but my friend seemed to enjoy this! MEATBALL –Yum!!! I’m terrible at identifying ingredients, but whatever is in it is CALAMARI — This wasn’t crispy at all. I would skip this! CHRISCOMBOSANDWICH — Great sandwich. Meat and cheesy goodness! There is outdoor seating to the left of the store when you walk out. Great place to grab lunch!

Today I had lunch at Bertucellis La Villa. On Saturdays they barbecue in the parking lot and I’ve been savoring the delicious aroma for the past year as I leave my Orangetheory Fitness class next door. Today I decided to try it. First, it was very small and crowded inside like an old style deli. Wasn’t sure how the line worked so stood at what I thought was the end until I realized they have a number system. So make sure to take a number first. Go to the right and number machine is outside the display case. As it turned out the wait allowed me to carefully consider a myriad of options… Finally decided on the Saturday Lunch Special – BBQ chicken or ribs with raviolis and a side salad. I chose ribs and potato. Made my way out with my lunch and sat in a covered patio area. I must say everything was on point and perfect! The potato salad was like I make myself. The ravs were perfect and the ribs were tender and meaty with just enough sauce. So tender in fact I cut them apart easily with my plastic knife. I usually put salt and pepper on everything but forgot to ask for some and didn’t want to go back. As it turned out absolutely no need for any additional seasoning. It was seasoned just right. They also have a beautiful dessert case with different cheesecakes, lemon and other fruit bars, cakes, etc. Too crowded today but I know where to go for another day. I also noticed quite a few people purchasing containers of raviolis to serve at home. I can definitely see why! Yes yes yes I will be back.

Good food, yummy deserts, poor customer service. I’ve been here twice now, both times the staff were very off putting. They act like I killed their dog when I tried to ask a question such as «how much is this?» The audacity of me! Smh. You go in and pull a number. When they call your number and you respond, they just look at you… no «what can I get for you» or the like, just look at you, with a look of blankness and hate that they have to be there dealing with you.(Quit then jerk!) They chat to each other about customers just quiet enough you can’t catch what they say be you can read body language and see the looks of the people they are talking to and how they all the sudden start looking at you… wait, is this a restaurant or high school?! Apart from the poor service the food is pretty good. The first time I had a piece of mango cheesecake that was heaven in my mouth, that’s what brought me back. If only the owner would improve on the customer service this place would be quite the gem.

First thing’s first, take a number. You can browse afterward and make your decision on what you’re going to buy but take a number so that you’re not waiting forever here. I’ve visited Bertucelli’s twice already, each time to purchase fresh ravioli(comes in a flat box), and each time, I was pleased with the purchase. I tried the cheese ravioli and you get 48 to a box, which sounds like a lot, but each are very small so one box can maybe feed 3 people. The second time, I tried the lobster ravioli, which was double the cost of the cheese ravioli, and it was really good but I’m not sure if I can justify paying twice the cost for the cheese ravioli. Either way, you can’t lose but be aware that the facility is tiny so you may need to squeeze in with a lot of other customers while waiting for your number to be called.

My coworker(who grew up in Willow Glen) raved about how good the sandwiches and raviolis are here. To be honest, if it wasn’t for her I would probably never have tried this place. Walking in, you can definitely tell they make everything fresh and the food is pretty bomb because of the long lines during lunch time. I ordered a half pint of spinach and cheese ravioli with a salad which came out to about $ 10. The ravioli was soooo good and fresh. The sauce was delicious and the cheese was melty and stringy. When I got the half pint, I was sure it wasn’t going to fill me up but surprisingly it did! I felt that the salad was pretty standard there. There’s a patio adjacent to the place for you to eat and enjoy the nice weather. I’ll definitely be back!

This place is packed on Saturday for lunch time! Yes there are tons of people, but it feels even more so from how tiny this shop is. Service couldn’t be simpler: walkin and pick up a number, go up to the counter when they call your number. I tried the ravioli and a pair of potato croquettes. The ravioli was impeccable, the cheese was so delicious, might not be best ravioli I’ve had(seafood, yum) but this is definitely up there. The tomato pasta sauce was just ok, it wasn’t to my liking. Just certain spices(my untrained palate can’t detect) that weren’t to my liking. My friends loved it though. The croquettes were phenomenal. In fact, pouring the remaining tomato sauce on the croquettes might be one of the best decisions I’ve made… in my life. lol I’ll be back to try more of there menu, it all looks so tasty!

One word: Ravilois. Yes, the sandwiches are amazing, the deli is incredible! However, if you are going to a pot luck, a birthday party, Christmas, you name it– if you show up with a couple dozen La Villa Rav’s and meat sauce — you are going to be a) very popular and b) invited back! We usually pick up an arancini with sauce — for a treat when we get home. The best!

This Italian deli spot is a gem. If I’m in the South Bay for the day I will drive out of my way to grab something from here. Their hot deli is the best. I am a huge fan of arancini(rice balls filled with cheese and/or meat). Theirs are humongous! Their ravioli is to die for. I’ve had it hit on their patio and I’ve also bought a box to go. Clearly the dough is homemade making the ravioli’s soft. Love that they stuff it with meat and spinach. They might have other kinds but haven’t tried anything else yet. What makes it all come together is the tomato sauce. Wow! Good stuff! They’re cold deli has quite the variety. I like it enough but nothing there screams as a standout compared to what I might be able to buy at a usual higher end grocery store. Their dessert case is a bit slobber inducing. Can’t complain here. We need something like this in my community so I won’t have to drive so far. But for now, I’m willing to put in the extra mileage for some yummy yum in my tum!

Best ravioli ever! These little pillow like squares have the perfect texture. We love them so much a box a box of frozen ravioli to go. Amazingly they were just as good when I prepared the frozen ones at home. Ribs had great smoky flavor. The ball filled with cheese and eggplant was most excellent as well. It is no wonder there is always a long line at this place. Ps they have parking in their back lot and patio seating.

O, divine ravioli. What could be better than ordering an entire PARTYPLATTER of Meat Ravioli? Well, getting a pretty hefty container for lunch. That’s what! In addition to the meat and spinach ravioli, their menu also lists the following options: cheese, feta, chicken, or lobster. All their food has a vegetarian option — how awesome is that? Ravioli is not their only specialty. I’ve tried the Stuffed Shells, which are bursting with meat, cheese, and just a whole bunch of flavor. The Meat Arancini(HUGE fried rice ball — also with meat) is also super tasty and surprisingly filling. I recommend coming with a friend and ordering as much food as possible and sharing it, all for a decent price.

There’s definitely lots to choose from here and you can definitely go broke deciding what to get. I came here once before with a friend and ordered some raviolis and potato croquettes. I forget what size of ravioli I ordered but it was around $ 8. The potato croquettes were the smallest fried balls on display. The larger two are aracini. A single potato croquette was $ 1.50. The next visit I made with my partner. I ordered a calzone and my partner a salami sandwich. Please don’t judge him for his adorably naïve ways. He thought he could just order when he got there. He wanted to see what they had to offer but found out they don’t list out sandwich combos. They also do not list prices so be cautious! It was $ 29 and change for these two items. This place has very good food but it comes at a hefty price. At first I told myself it was OK to be spending so much on food. It was quality over quantity right! This is an authentic place! It is worth it! But then I went to San Francisco’s little Italy and paid only $ 15 for two different types of homemade pasta dishes. I think I will have to try Antipastos in East Side San Jose for a better comparison. Overall, definitely a good place to eat but more of a lunch time splurge. I love that they have outdoor seating for nice days. They also have their own parking lot which is really convenient when its to cold to eat outside but you wanna enjoy your food instantly in your car like the true millennial you might me

Came here during a weekday for an early lunch. Got a turkey and avocado sandwich on Dutch Crunch. The proportions were pretty off, with way too much turkey. Otherwise, the sandwich was fine, but pretty bland. Their other items looked good, so maybe I’ll try that if I’m ever in the area.

Ok, Ok… I admit my previous review of La Villa(LV) was a bit harsh and it might’ve been written during that time of the month, so I’m going to make amends. LV is the venerable Italian Deli that are fairly common throughout most of the US, but are turning into a rarity– especially ’round these parts. LV originally opened up in 1947 in the heart of Downtown Willow Glen, and was later purchased by the Bertucelli family in 1988. LV serves up an amazing array of Italian and non-Italian food items ranging from your ubiquitous Roast Beef Sandwich, Potato Croquettes, Fried Mac-and-Cheese Balls and everything in-between! However, I only have a small set of things that I like to order here as I generally stay away from some of their hot items as LV’s reheating process(a microwave) leaves much to be desired… Sandwiches– The off-the-menu Chris Combo(turkey, ham, Italian meat w/melted cheese) is the venerable stand-by here, and has become so popular that they have packets of the sandwich meat already sliced up and ready to-go in the fridge. However, my favorite sandwich here at LV is their Prosciutto w/Provolone on Dutch Crunch. I’m already a huge fan of Prosciutto, but LV’s is always sliced up fresh and piled high with all their fresh veggies on their wonderful Dutch Crunch. One of my top sandwiches of all-time. Raviolis– Ravioli is to LV what a cape is to Superman. This is definitely their preeminent dish and for good reason; I’m not sure I’ve had better Ravs anywhere. They only sell the Cheese and Meat Ravs in the store but they also have Chicken, Feta and Lobster Ravs available for sale frozen that you can make at home. If you don’t feel like cooking dinner one night I highly recommend getting a box of their Lobster Ravs and a pint of their Gravy to make at home. You’re welcome… Deli Salads– I love LV’s cold deli salad case. It always has a terrific assortment of stuff that puts everyone else to shame. My perennial favorites are the Caprese Salad and the Octopus Salad, but I recently saw the Shrimp & Avocado Salad(Fridays Only!!) that I **HAVE** to try! Next time, Gadget… Next time… Service & Ambiance– LV definitely has an old school vibe to it, and is a hot-spot for local sports celebrities(mostly Sharks and 49ers) as the walls are adorned with signed photos. The boys taking the orders vary, as some are pretty cold and distant while others are very friendly and will still remember me even though it’s been months between visits. Value– LV can be pretty expensive, as it’s not uncommon for a lunchtime pig-out session to waver just below $ 20, but you will be stuffed and satisfied. Hard to complain about quality, housemade food… LV used to be my «go-to» spot in the area, but after a quality drop a few years ago it did lose some of its luster with me. However, after my last three visits here I can confirm that –like Frank Costanza after returning to the kitchen – they’re back baby!!! Highly recommended for good, quality Italian Deli food. Molto Bene!

Oh geez… Let’s recap the lunch I ordered on Saturday, as it was my first time physically being in La Villa and experiencing it all: — A serving of meat raviolis(I had initially ordered cheese for a «light» option((who am I kidding?)) but my mom is a vegetarian and they gave her the meat ravs with her meal so I fell on that sword for her) — A Saturday special calzone(that I didn’t/couldn’t finish 100% and is a feat that, in retrospect, ! probably should be glad I didn’t attempt) — 3 croquettes(seriously the best croquettes I have ever had) — A slice of salted caramel vanilla cake(which I shared with my husband later that night at, like, 8pm… don’t judge me) Needless to say, it was a little overwhelming, and because of the nature of waiting and seeing everything they have to offer I wanted to take full advantage of the chance to order when it was my turn. Besides, when will I have the time and patience to wait like this again? Those opportunities are pretty few and verrrry far between. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal and was thankfully not roly-poly full afterward, but I did have a vague«what have I done?» feeling until about 6:30 pm. The take-a-number system can be kind of stressful, especially if you haven’t given yourself enough time to wait for your turn to be up or if you’re just plain hungry, but it’s actually really organized and sometimes — if you’re lucky — they’re able to skip over a few numbers of impatient people who didn’t want to stick around. If you have to watch slices of the cake you want exit the heavenly spinning pastry case and end up staring down the last morsel as they call other people’s numbers ahead of you, godspeed my friend. That was almost me with that Salted Caramel cake and I was ready to have a conniption.

If anywhere near the San Jose Willow Glen area, make it a point to stop by this little shop and pick up a couple boxes of their phenomenal uncooked fresh made meat ravioli and a big container of their fresh made sauce. Its cozy, suburban Willow Glen sure, but once you get home and cook this stuff up you will swear you made a cross-country trip to Brooklyn or New Jersey to got the real goods. It’s like time travel back to a simpler time where the sauce was good, and the pasta even better. Their meat ravioli are just pillows of happiness, seriously. The old school goodness here cannot be denied.

Oh Bertucelli’s, how I love thee. You’ve filled a gaping hole in my foodie heart that I didn’t know existed! La Villa is a very well-known gem in Willow Glen, and you’ll find many regulars and first-timers here on any given day. Take your time and look in the deli case. You can’t go wrong with anything in there. In fact, the only thing I’ve had which wasn’t by far the best I’ve had of its kind is the marinated artichokes(which were exactly what you expect them to be.) When it comes to lunch, just say the magic words: Chris Combo. It is THE best Italian sandwich you will ever eat. They keep the recipe top-secret, and I’m considering finding a way to work there just to learn how to make it. It’s that good. Three different kinds of cold cuts, cheese, shredded lettuce, and a fantastic garlicky sauce on a really good soft roll. There really are no words to describe it, though. You have to experience it for yourself. While you’re there, pick up a box of FRESH ravioli that – surprise, surprise – will also be the best you ever eat.(Are you sensing a trend here?) The pasta itself is super soft and thin with excellent gluten development yet not too much flour, and they PACK them with filling. If you get the lobster ravioli, you’ll be eating a ton of lobster. But even if you simply get the cheese ones, you were be full and very happy in no time. They have a number of sauces for you to choose from in the fridge. Lately I’ve been straying away from a classic marinara and pairing the ravioli with Bertucelli’s tomato alfredo sauce. It’s sinfully delectable. And the Death Sandwich. If you have a huge appetite or are a big-time meatball sub lover, you have come to the right place. You can thank me later. Bertucelli’s La Villa is by far the best Italian deli I have ever been to. Do yourself a favor and let it change your life like it has mine.

Excellent service. Overly hyped food. CHRISCOMBO ~ 3 stars: One of their signature sandwiches that underwhelms on a couple levels. First, they microwave some of the meat before assembling the sandwich. Second, the American cheese kind of kills the flavor and texture. It’s extremely overhyped and overpriced for what it is. CHEESERAVIOLIS ~ 3 stars. Good, not great. The skin is too thick for my liking and I didn’t like how it was drenched with sauce. One word: Average

Pretty safe to say this is my new favorite sandwich shop in the area. I’ve been meaning to stop by for years, but it went on and off the radar. Co-worker raved about the sandwiches and hot food, and now I understand where he was coming from. Other Unilocalers have gone on about the Chris Combo so I felt like that was the best, first sandwich to try(even though I don’t care for mayo). It did not disappoint: sweet roll bread was soft and laid a great foundation for the slightly salty salami, roasted turkey, cheddar cheese, provolone, and herbs in the mayo paired added an extra flavor boost. We also ordered a pint of cheese ravs because why not? PS we were denied a ½ pint even though it’s listed as an order option on their website. I still recommend the raviolis, prefereably cooked(they also sell uncooked); their marinara is way better than mine. Total for 2 Chris Combos, 1 pint of cooked, cheese ravs, and 1 Mexican coke was $ 30.55. Echoing others, know the drill before you walk in. Grab a number at the front counter and wait to be called. Pro move would be to order online @orderaheadapp.com or call; next time. For a late lunch on a Saturday, there were a lot of people inside the cramped store and we waited about 15 – 20 minutes to order. I can only imagine how crazy it gets at lunch during the week. One more tip: don’t waste your time with street parking out front; there’s parking around the corner and behind the deli.

Places like this you hope stays forever. They give you a feeling like you’re in an italian deli from Italy. The selection is unique and plentiful. The food is amazing. Very fresh, and has great options as well from the usual sandwiches. But the sandwiches are very tasty. I heard a lot of chatter about the Chris Combo, they playfully didn’t reveal the ingredients though I pestered. Ordered it and was blown away. Also tried the lasagna and some other goodies. Highly recommend. The ordering system is a little tricky since its not immediately clear its a ticketing system. Nice outdoor seating as well.

Best. Raviolis. Ever. Simple as that. Berutcelli’s La Villa has the best raviolis I’ve ever eaten, and that alone merits the 5 star rating. Prices are great. For around 10 dollars, you can get a bread bowl stuffed full of ravioli. Or, for a few dollars less, you can get a pint of ravioli in your chosen flavor if you feel like less carbs… or just want to save room for any of the other offerings. They have different types of Italian desserts, including cannolis and tiramisu. I just want to come back and keep trying different things! They have online ordering and it gets busy at lunch, so take advantage and order ahead.
