The hubs and I go here on a fairly regular basis; it’s «good enough» and because we haven’t found someplace better, this will continue to be our go-to place. The search continues. The service is always great; if it weren’t, we wouldn’t hesitate to stop going. The hubby always gets the same thing — the chile verde with corn tortillas — and this seems to be a hit, luckily. I suppose this is the reason we continue to go back. I’ve had a few different things, to note: – Don’t order the tostada salad. The taste is just«off» and the tortilla is too greasy with a bad taste and worse texture. – The Mexicali chicken has been the best thing I’ve ordered. Great flavor. Parking is a challenge! If you can’t find parking in their small lot, there is street parking in the adjacent residential neighborhood and minimal parking on Winchester. Final thoughts — the chips are ok, sometimes not as fresh as I would hope. I’d like to see them make a salsa with great flavor but less spicy than what they serve.

Casa Lupe is gone folks. It’s now El Maestro Mexican Food. New management, same wait staff, similar and good food but no longer the same great place. The ambiance is gone. Décor is very stark now. Crappy margaritas. Rock music. Weird food presentation(one plate for entrée and another for beans and rice). I like it all on the same platter. Long wait for food. Not awful but I won’t be back.

Well this isn’t a bad restaurant and the service isn’t bad but here are the pros and cons: 1.They get your food to you fast 2.They have pretty Décor(could use a little update but I love the colors) 3.The salsa which is the Green Cilantro salsa is REALLY good to eat while you wait. Usually, Salsa doesn’t entertain me much. 4.The waitress is friendly 5.Restroom is immaculate and clean! I love the smell and the fact that it’s fashionable. 6.They are open til 9PM CONS: 1.The Bondigas(If I am spelling that right) lol is ehh. I was expecting full meatballs in it and got shredded beef into it. 2.If you ask for lemon, she’ll bring you Lime. Lol 3. They don’t provide Napkins. 4. The food tastes reheated and not freshly made. Overall, it’s ok. I would probably go here if this was my last resort.

I would like to make this a regular spot as the food is good but the drinks are way too expensive. $ 13 for a margarita is just too much. I don’t like well but I it wasn’t patron so they need to rethink that pricing. Could be why there were 5 employees and 1 customer(me).

This was our first experience at this location. We normally go to the Casa Lupe in Sunnyvale. The menu was different here. We were served chips right away with 3 different Salsas. I ordered the grilled shrimp tacos and my husband had the chicken fajitas. My tacos were very hardy and had lots of filling options on my plate, like sour cream, guacamole, lettuce and pico de gallo. It also came with beans and rice. Overall the food had great flavor. The beans and rice were overly salty. The service was ok. We were having lunch on a Sunday so it was not a full restaurant. They only had 1 waitress for the whole restaurant. The food took a bit to make it to our table, but when it did arrived it was very hot with excellent presentation. I think we will be back again for dinner in the future.

After doing some shopping across the way, at Bed Bath and Buy Buy Baby, my hubby and I wanted to get something to eat. This place showed up on Unilocal and was super close so we headed over there. The place seems like it’s in a dark corner, but don’t let the outside fool you, it’s better inside. I was surprised to see how packed it was, but we were able to be seated right away. Our waitress brought us some drinks and took our order. I got the chicken and cheese green enchiladas. My husband a tamale and taco. The food wait wasn’t very long. They have salsa and chips with three different salsas for you — the green one is really good. The food was pretty tasty considering the type of place. Overall, we liked it. There wasn’t anything bad or to complain about. Would recommend if you are in the area and don’t want to eat at a chain restaurant.

I was going to give this restaurant 4 stars because it was a long wait to get two quesadillas, but I got a free flan for Valentine’s day… So I bumped it up to five stars. I had been craving a chicken quesadilla, so I figured I’d give this place a try since it is right around the corner from my house. I drove into the shopping center & thought it was closed at first. It said«OPEN» on the window, so I parked. Once I walked closer realized the blinds were closed & it was dark inside. Guess that’s why it looked closed from far away. I was greeted right away by a friendly lady & she took my order right away. It took about 25 minutes for me to get my order, I just figured it was because it was a Saturday night. I was not too happy since my 2 year old son was starting to get inpatient. I ended up getting the flan I ordered for free for Valentine’s day, so I was happy again. It was the day after Valentine’s day, so I think it was more of a «sorry for waiting so long» free flan. Either way, I was happy. I loved the grilled chicken quesadilla. Best quesadilla I’ve ever had at Mexican restaurant. The salsas they gave me were delicious. I will definitely be going back again to try more of their food.

I’ve been to the Casa Lupe on Winchester and since I was in the Blossom Hill– Almaden area decided to go here for Sunday dinner. I think they are really understaffed with just one hostess/waitress and one cook. The place was not overly crowded and I did spot empty tables but it took 5 minutes for anyone to notice that we were waiting to be seated and acknowledge our presence! I then had to ask the waitress if we should just go ahead and grab a table and was informed that it’ll be 10 minutes waiting. So we decided to just hang out by the bar. We got the fresh chips and salsa which were really good. It also took a long time for the waitress to get us menus and take our order. We ordered a plate of dinner special with chile relleno and tostada. It was fresh, hot and tasty. There was also a mistake on our bill, they charged us 5 $ extra. Good thing I doubled check the bill always. So overall good food, bad service(maybe understaffed or newly opened) So I would actually give this place 2.5 stars just because the food was good. But bad service really does dampen the experience. Sure to avoid this branch of Casa Lupe.

Casa Lupe is a mexican restaurant located off the corner of Blossom HIll Rd and Almaden Expwy, it is in the same block as Lamps Plus but in the other corner. Lots of parking. You enter now through the left door vs the center. My wife and I were promptly greeted and seated, there was only one other couple there. Nice mexican music playing and the décor is mexican, red, green and white. The waitress brought us some warm chips and three kinds of salsa, green chille verde, red medium hot salsa and tomatoes. Chips and salsa tasted fresh. This got the appetite wet and we were ready to order. They also have a full bar on the other side. More folks came in as it was lunch time, which was a good sign. It was Wed, so we went ahead with the lunch special which was Enchilada’s, we are veggie so went with Cheese, they come with rice and beans, a touch of cilantro and a tomato slice. Plate and food was hot, the rice was overly salty for my pallette, but the beans and enchilada were good. We ordered a refill of the chips, there was no extra charge. The specials are $ 6.50 each at lunch time from 11.30−2.30pm. They can make your order a veggie(with Cheese) if you ask. Here are the other specials MONDAY: CHILERELLENO TUESDAY: BURRITO(Beef, Pork or Chicken) WEDNESDAY: ENCHILADA(Beef. Chicken or Cheese) THURSDAY: FLAUTAS(Beef or Chicken) FRIDAY: TOSTADA(Beef or Chicken) SATURDAY: HUEVOS A LAMEXICANA SUNDAY: HUEVOSRANCHEROS 4 stars, I would return again. Food tasted good and service was fast.

Glad I have this place a try. The neighbors wanted Mexican and suggested we try Casa Lupe on BHR @ Almaden Xpwy. Of course I checked Unilocal and saw the mixed reviews. I’m happy to say it was a pleasurable experience which included prompt attentive service, hot made to order food and delightful margaritas and cold beer. Out party of six visited 11⁄2013 on a SAT night. Good size parking lot near a busy intersection. Some might remember the location as Florentine’s Pasta Market. We were promptly seated within the neon lit dining room after walking by the full bar and open kitchen. Chips and three salsas started us off and soon a large margarita was presented. I was surprised at the size of this margie and it was fantastic-patron on the rocks. I thought I’d have two but at $ 12 each I decided to have a Dos Equis which was a wise decision. The Dos was served a very large frosty cold mug. A great accompaniment to my dinner especial which included a carnitas taco, verde enchilada, salad and tortilla soup. Needless to say I was stuffed. The plates were hot and the food was good. Not the best not the worst but a solid Mexican food meal to satisfy. The two children had chicken quesadillas and the other adults had chile relleno, enchiladas and the like. All others liked their food as well and would return. The menu was lengthy and included especials combos and a la carte dishes. The bill was $ 92 for four adults two children and three alcoholic beverages. The restaurant appeared clean and orderly. All uniformed staff members were cordial and polite. Service was not an issue at all. In fact I liked how they said«You’re Welcome» whenever we said«thank you.» I suggest you give Casa Lupe a try and don’t forget the margarita.

Casa Lupe is the closest example of Mexican food I’ve been able to find of my fave restaurant Casa de Soria. They are family owned and operated, super friendly, and give you a warm greeting if you’re a returning customer. I was pleased that there was no judgment when our table went through five bowls of chips and salsa. It’s soooo good. They offer a pico de gallo and a slurry salsa that has a surprising(but pleasant) after kick. A lot of their menu items focus on seafood or traditional dishes with a twist(enchiladas with two eggs on top!). I received nothing but a smile and an «Absolutely!» When I hesitantly asked if they could make one of their popular meat dishes vegetarian for me. House made sangria pitchers? Yes, please! We went through jugs of them. My veggie fajitas came with rice, pinto beans in the juice, and hearty servings of sour cream and guacamole on the side. The restaurant was packed with hungry patrons, but the wait staff never left us waiting more than a moment for more goods. Oh, did I mention the full bar? Definitely worth the drive. Hasta luego, amigos!

Good place. Won’t be on my list of favorites though. I really wanted to love it… it’s convenient to home, and not a tough place to park on a saturday night. It just didn’t happen for me. No sparks. It was good food, but nothing memorable. we went on a weekend and it was pretty much empty in there. never a good sign. Food: my go-to item at a new mexican place is almost always cheese enchiladas. yes, it’s simple food. but it’s how i compare. don’t judge me. ;) they were good. the beans have good flavor. rice kind of reminded me of rice a roni. weird, almost mushy texture. i also tried a chili relleno. it was pretty good. chips and salsa were ok. the bf went with tacos, which he loved. kid had enchiladas verde, and he wolfed them down… must have been good stuff. drinks: margaritas(duh!). bf liked it. i thought the mix was a little too heavy on the sweet and sour. i drank about half and was getting a stomach ache. they’re big though, i’ll give them that. impressively large vat of cocktail they put in front of you! service: ok. there were only 3 other tables with people, and it still took them about 10 minutes to come over once we were seated. not sure why. would i go back? maybe for the convenience.

Not to be confused with the Casa Lupe in Campbell or Sunnyvale. All about tacos here… they are crispy. It is very hard to find a good crispy taco. The service is OK, which is why I gave it 3 stars instead of 4. I went for a late lunch at like 2:00pm on a weekday and there was one waitress for like, the whole restaurant. Not sure what it would be like at a regular busy time. May have been an off day. For the tacos, I’d go back. Hopefully the service is better.

We’ve driven by this restaurant many times and finally decided to give it a try. When we walked in there was no one to greet us. We waited and waited and waited. Two waitresses came by and told us to wait so we waited and waited some more. At this point wifey wanted to leave but I said lets just give it a try since we’ve been wanting to try it out. Finally the bussboy sat us down. We waited and waited and waited some more. This is ridiculous. Right when we pretty much had enough, a waitress comes by and apologized, she thought someone else was taking care of us. She was very nice so we let it go. From there the service picked up. Quick replenishing of drinks, chips and salsa(3 types). Wifey and I shared a Mango Margarita and though you couldn’t taste the alcohol, we enjoyed the taste. HOT plates were brought out only to realize that my food was cold. How could this be? I’ll let you draw your own conclusion but to say the least, I was disappointed. Chile Relleno Burrito — Sounds good but was bland. My entire plate had the typical processed Mexican restaurant taste I don’t care for. Plus my food was cold! Chicken Chimichanga — My nephew killed this but he will eat pretty much anything, his food was cold too. Chille Relleno Combo — Wifey enjoyed her plate and said it was warm. We wanted to like this place but the long wait was just not worth it. I believe this place takes the spot as the longest we have ever waited to get service. Needless to say, we will not be returning. * Live Mariachi Trio(friday night) * Mango Margarita — different but tasty * dark parking lot at night

DONOTEATHERE!!! I ate dinner here one night and got food poisoning. I ordered the spinach enchiladas, which were the ‘special.’ Apparently the enchiladas have been ‘special’ for a year or so. I should have known! Anyways, fast forward 6 – 8 hours and picture uncontrollable vomiting all night long. I’m not sure if it was bad hygiene associated with food prep, improper cleaning of the spinach or room temperature cream sauce. I will NEVER return to Casa Lupe. In fact I cringe every time we drive by the joint!

I have now visited this location five times in the past year and each visit I leave more disappointed than the last. On this visit it was the night before Thanksgiving and the busiest was eight tables seated. They had one server and one busboy. So IMHO a average table load for one server. We already went through the chips and salsa before the server took our order. My wife, son and I ordered one taco a la carte, carne asada nachos and a three item plate(Tamale, burrito, enchilada). For drinks, Mojito, Chavela and a sprite. When we were done it took our server ten minutes to ask us if we were ready for our bill. Duhhhhh… Then the sticker shock, $ 57.00! Thank god I didn’t bring my daughter otherwise the bill would have been over $ 75.00. The food here is pretty good and the location is convenient but when I don’t even get a «reach around» after being bent over and screwed on the bill I will pass. There are other mexican food places that are just as good and will screw me for less. Casa Lupe. unless you make changes I predict you will be out of business within a year.

My wife got food poisoning after going to Casa Lupe and ordering the spinach enchilada«special». Not sure if it was the cream sauce being left out too long, or the spinach was not properly washed before cooking, or if it was general kitchen hygiene. From the other reviews, it looks like this is an isolated incident, but I just wanted everyone to be aware.

Love the décor but the food is not what i was hoping for. The carnitas are not authentic, they are more like the crockpot type. The service was friendly but they need to get more staff because she had too many tables and took forever to come to our table. The strawberry margarita had good flavor but definitely needed the alcohol. Would probably not go back there but if around and hungry I wouldn’t mind stopping by.

I like this place but it’s pretty average. The service is a little slow sometimes but the waitresses are always friendly and you get seated quickly. The chips and salsa here annoy me. They bring a couple different salsas just like other Mexican places but the pico de gallo is lacking for me, too dry. I wish it was just red salsa. I usually mix it with the verde salsa to make do. The entrees I’ve had here have all been pretty mediocre. But, I love the drinks and desserts. The margaritas are huge!(and mine had alcohol, I see other people complaining that they taste virgin). I can’t remember the name of the desserts we’ve had, but they were amazing. Fried ice cream I think and the other one with cinnamon fried tortillas, caramel, and ice cream. mmmm. You better be hungry if you order dessert though– they are huge too. My husband loves the food here so we come back from time to time but I’m usually only in it for the drinks and desserts :)

I’m a fan of their location in Mountain View, so I went to this one when I was nearby(with a coupon from my Safeway receipt — don’t judge!). Got a carne asada burrito to go. The waitress gave me a hard time about the coupon — apparently they intended for it to be a «½ off one entrée when you buy 2» coupon, but it didn’t actually say anything about buying 2 entrees. Sorry! Anyway… My burrito filling was tasty(3 star?), but they put cole slaw on the side. Uhm, what the heck? Especially for a to-go order, it ruined the tortilla! It was so gross. I would give them another try, but hold the stupid cole slaw, please!
