From my previous post, you’ll know I’m really a big fan of Customer Service… really big.
So I’m pretty frustrated. One of my best friend’s mother passes away after a car accident; May she forever rest in peace. The next day we contacted the towing company asking them what information and documentation was required to retrieve her mother’s personal belongings from the car. Simple, straightforward question.
The gentleman replied, only the registered owner can retrieve the car or its belongings. OK, that makes total sense. So we kindly re-​advised him that she had unfortunately passed away less than 12 hours ago and wanted to know what he would need (Death Certificate, police report, etc) to which again he replied he can only allow the registered owner… sir that’s impossible. He said that by continuing to ask him what other than the registered owner he could accept was wasting his time. We were nonetheless annoyed.
Thinking we caught him at a bad time, we stopped by the shop later in the afternoon to get a checklist of items he’d need so we can grab my friend’s mom’s personal belongings out of the car. He said that he remembered talking to us earlier today and that we roughed him up over the phone… really? Your feelings were hurt because we questioned the nonsensical response that you gave us. Yep, two little ladies hurt this grown man’s feelings. Again, he repeated that he needed the registered owner to pick up the car. Well sir, if I could do that, I certainly wouldn’t be sitting in a tow company… I’d sipping mai-​tais in the Bahama, rich from selling my own holy water.
Final update, the gentleman ended up assisting us. I’ll give him credit for that, but he made it much more difficult than it needed to be.

What a bunch of crooks! I wish I could give Courtesy Towing ZERO stars. Trying to take more of my money when I already paid in full (almost $ 500) to get my vehicle out of their towing service office recently. And at the highest rate possible of $ 200 for towing and then storage of $ 85 per day. The owner Robert Sandoval himself keeps sending me notices of liens and I already talked to him once in person about this matter and from what he told me, I thought it was resolved already that first time. A big effing lie! Now with this latest notice, Robert is basically telling me I still owe him more money. And he can’t even spell some of his words properly in the letter. Well, as the other Unilocalers have pointed out, there is nothing courteous about him or the other staff. The people who run the office have practically no idea what they are doing, nor are they helpful at all!
On top of that, the office itself is so freaking disorganized. There are carbon-​copy invoices all over their desk, not filed properly and probably not even entered into a computer database to be easily looked up when needed.
Oh, and did I mention that they contract with the local public agencies when it comes to towed vehicles?! That’s why Robert and Courtesy Towing think they can charge whatever the hell they want and leave people broke and empty-​handed. I swear, I’m going to have to file a complaint with the BBB and possibly get an attorney involved and take these assholes to court!
Courtesy Tow is an absolute rip-​off, to say the least. Avoid this company at all costs! Better yet, avoid being put in a situation where your car will get towed to these dishonest and unprofessional people!

Having the contract with SJPD, the owner just charge the maximum within the regulation.
They charge the maximum in towing of $ 200 and storage of $ 85 per day. He can careless about the hours in the storage nor the distance in towing. The owner threatening me not to release the car to me because I called him a thief. He provoked me to call the police to straight things out. The owner is so rude, haven’t seen a business owner with attitude for a long time. I just can’t wait he is out of the business with SJPD.

I just call this rip-​off company Who was going to charge me $ 100 only if I paid cash. If I pay by credit card $ 120 for the same service there’s not a credit card company for merchant services out there that charges 20% this place is a rip-​off

Scheduled a tow at 10 AM. Didn’t show up. I called and they told me that the lady who scheduled me didn’t tell the lady on duty today. I asked maybe they can hurry up and they said no. I didn’t ask them to speed or anything — just as soon as they can. But they seems to be offended and said they are not going to drive recklessly. I didn’t ask them to — just try to make it in less than one hour later than my appointment!

Driver came to tow vehicle for auto body repairs from our home, basically couldn’t be a easier or more convenient job. Yet Driver was short and rude — apparently annoyed as he had to ask for the key and wait 1-​min to move a car.
Apparently this b-​line auto body preferred tow company, reflects poorly on them as well.

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING COURTEOUS ABOUT Courtesy Tow. Robert Sandoval, owner (?) (Matos Tow also) is less than pleasant and outright rude. I don’t even like that I have to waste my time to write a review, because if I get BAD SERVICE, not worth my time… HOWEVER, HE was so BAD, I had to let Unilocal. CALL ANYONE BUT COURTESY or MATOS TOW… He has no professional skills as far as customer service and dealing with clients, hard to believe he can stay in business… but with his long time SJPD contract, it keeps him going and can treat people any way he cares too, very arrogant!!! …take your business elsewhere, he doesn’t need it and doesn’t care. BIG FAT ZERO STAR

Avoid! Wanted to charge me $ 85 to tow me less than a mile and what’s worse is I was ½ mile from their office! They are not interested in truly helping only if they can make a lot of money.

Unfortunately Mark D no longer works there. I’m sure he will be missed.

The Facts :
0. A little investigation turned up that «a portion of fees» (kickbacks) goes to the local police department and parking enforcement.
1. When under contract with a third party (Insurers, or worse, the cash-​starved S.J.P.D.), they charge at least twice the market rate for towing and storage. I am under the impression that this is simply because they can.
2. They use fork-​lifts to move cars owned by others. That is simply unnecessary, and socially unacceptable.
3. In a reversal of the «sliding scale» principle, they change their negotiating tactics depending on what they believe the influence and affluence of the other parties is.
I saw a hunched senior couple (70+) who came in before me to get their Le Sabre back, and the contemptuous, sly treatment they received weighed on my heart.
When they got their first car, most of the parking regulations we have now were not even a twinkle in some official’s eye.
My opinion :
They seem to be OK guys, doing a business that rewards certain behavior. That doesn’t excuse that behavior, but it does explain it.
I’m not going to advocate storming them with pitchforks or anything, but those of you who have a choice of businesses, choose one that doesn’t take unfair advantage of so many people.
P. S. Beware of Robert.

A Courtesy Towing truck nearly hit me as it crossed incoming traffic. I had to slam on my brakes and skid to a stop just inches from the truck. To top it off the driver didn’t even stop to see if I was okay as I pulled over to check my vehicle. Luckily, no contact was made by the vehicles, but this company is the opposite of courtesy.

They towed our car after we were in an accident. They were surprisingly thoughtful and helpful.

My boyfriends car got stolen on years eve. It’s Honda and it was found the next day. Courtesy Tow it. And charge me fees plus the storage fee. Robert I believe is the manage and he made it easy for us. Customer service is awesome the gentleman that helped us with all the questions was very helpful. We got the car back with a discount. I definitely liked their customer service do it deserved a compliment! Thanks again guys!

Probably the worst customer support experience I’ve had in the past year. These guys towed my car to the dealer for repair and in the process, they lost an tow point access cover from our bumper.
We made MANY calls, most of which resulted in promises that were made, but not kept… «We’ll call back in 10 minutes», «The owner will be here soon and definitely will call back by end of the day», etc. None of these ever happened.
After complaining to Mercedes Roadside Assistance (who contracted with these clowns), they told us they would order a replacement part, but that didn’t happen and we had to complain to Mercedes again.
I would NEVER hire them for anything!

These guys participated in a San Jose city sponsored robbery of my wife’s car. They justify saying the city said to do it. So, San Jose stole our car from the spot our apartment manager said to park. The staff are complete pricks and have a horrible attitude.
We’re out 550 now and still have to sell this junk car that’s not even worth that much realistically. I wanted to just let them keep it, but they would’ve stored it for as long as possible to be able to charge me as much as possible prior to junking it and then threatened to send me to collections.
And then, of all things, the guy at the desk was the rudest person in the world. Wouldn’t answer basic questions because the car was in my wife’s name (not mine) and she was standing right next to me, too.

And beware SJ residents — streets have a 3-​day parking limit — if you car is parked for more than 3 days on the street, it is considered «stored» and liable to end up in the lot of these guys or some other assholes.
And these guys WILL fuck with you up until the point you’re gone off their lot with your car, so no use arguing with them.
As far as courtesy service tows, I would rather trust my car to half-​wit than their sixteenth-​wit staff.
Just to give people an idea of how «expensive» towing is, it’s not as expensive as these guys charge. I’ve towed my own car from Los Angeles to San Francisco and only spent $ 500 – 600.

Courtesy Tow was very helpful in towing my car from the freeway in San Jose, after I was rear ended. They used a giant flatbed tow truck and gave me a ride to the tow lot.
The insurance company for the person who hit me covered all of the towing expenses, so I did not have to pay the approx. $ 500 in fees for towing and storage of my car. They towed my car to Coast Auto Body in San Carlos for me as well, which I definitely appreciated.
I was sitting in a tow lot when I was supposed to be giving awards to 5^th graders for winning an immigration creative writing contest, but this was not Courtesy’s fault.
Props to the old guy that patrols the freeway and stopped at our accident scene within 5 minutes & called Courtesy Tow.

My insurance company, State Farm, uses Courtesy Tow and I absolutely love them. I have never had any problems with them, and it has always been prompt and friendly service. Whether I need a tow, or just locked my keys in the car, they have always been very helpful. And if you have State Farm, all they do is ask for your insurance info and they bill them directly, no need to pay for the tow then be reimbursed later…
Awesome customer service!

Worst place to get a tow from, My car was recently ordered by CHP to be impounded at this lot, because my car broke down on the free way, Robert of Courtesy tow wanted to charge me $ 140.00 to talk to one of his drivers about getting my car out on a Sunday, I came in today to get my car, and he wanted to charge me 480 to get my car out.
The rates were explained to me as.
175 for the tow
55 per day for storage
After a couple of minutes of reasoning with him, he brought the charges down to 340, I am still expecting a $ 110 dollar refund.
This place is also unprofessional as they were moving my car around their lot with a fucking fork lift, A FUCKING FORK LIFT. Although my car is not worth much, it’s still my property, this place is pretty unprofessional and so are their staff, they are rude and money hungry.
I don’t understand how things could of added up to 480, Robert also wanted to charge me for three days, even though it has only been one day, Robert charged me for Two days, I have filed my complaint with the BBB and I hope to hear back soon.

If have old cars, which means two things. I have a greater than average need for tow service and I am pretty picky about quality. Unfortunately, I needed help again. this morning.
My club dispatched Courtesy, and they were fantastic. Nick and Francisco know exactly what they were doing and treated my car with kid gloves. They arrived inside of the service window, called 5 minutes before to confirm and couldn’t have been more expert. They even cleaned up the oil my car had dropped with special absorbent.
Ultra fast, friendly — and even green! Thank you!

Customer service was great.
They were real nice to me some of the workers are pretty funny guy’s as well.
If you get your car towed for parking the wrong place its going to cost you alot to get it out of here…
