Has to be the best seàfood, Mexican style I’ve ever tasted! Absolutely DELISH! For myself, a little pricy but TOTALLY worth it. If you are in San Jose and craving some seafood this is a must try!

Came here for late night(8:30pm) tacos on a recommendation from a coworker. Probably not a good idea to eat fish tacos right before closing — the fish didn’t seem fresh. I did like the taste of the other taco ingredients, however, so I would give this place another try. The habanero hot sauces on the table are pretty delicious, too!

Breaded halibut tacos. And only the breaded halibut tacos. Unless it’s a little chilly outside in which case add on a cup(or bowl) of clam chowder. Do not be tempted by the other seafood choices. Breaded halibut is the answer.

1. a small n mediocre place for good mexican food. 2. the surrounding streets n the restaurant itself is shady and food truck types. 3. but they have a beautiful sit out area to dine which is nice when u go with frnds or family. 4. food is tasty is enough but quality not matching the price. its the food of quality that u get at any other normal taqueria. good point only for the sit out dining area n food taste. bad points for price/area /quality.

Nice fish tacos, especially the halibut and ahi tuna ones. I don’t recommend the crab taco. The shrimp platter felt short of my expectations. Like most people say, the environment is what brings you to this place: the terrace, the benches and tables, the food-truck looking window to the kitchen. Pretty nice when the weather helps. Put some lime on it!

Super yummy place for fresh little on the pricey side fish tacos but well worth it! I’ve never came here and not enjoy my meal. The fish tacos are so delicious and the shrimp that are in the cocktails are so big and perfectly cooked. At times I get scared of tacos places making«seafood» items because I have gotten food poisoning in the pass. But this place is VERY clean and they know how to handle seafood properly. –always go for the special of the day! It’s cheaper rout

Swung by for a quick lunch on a Sunday afternoon after visiting the Municipal Rose Garden. They have a small parking lot, but you can always park in the larger plaza one block away. Their outdoor dining area is quaint but cute! Opt to sit outside if the weather permits! On this trip, we ordered the prawns in garlic butter sauce plate and the fish taco. Both were delicious! The sauce for the prawns was amazing, and the entire plate was filling. The fish taco was quite large and definitely flavorful! I miss the fish taco as we speak! Order at the counter when you come in and you’ll receive a number plaque to place on your table. Your order will be brought to your table. Food comes out quickly, which is always a plus. Definitely recommend coming here for a quick, inexpensive bite!

Food: 4 stars — Ordered the scallop and halibut tacos. Halibut was soft and tender. Scallop slightly over cooked. The avocado and sauce was very flavorful. Service: 4 stars — Quick and efficient. Ambiance: 3 stars — Feels authentic. A bit nicer than your typical local taco joint. Value: 5 stars — High quality seafood tacos for less than $ 5 each? Yes, please!

Got the Si Food Breaded taco, only had halibut $ 4.10 and the carne asada taco $ 3.55. Alcohol is pretty expensive, $ 5 for a corona. Halibut taco was nice and crispy, carne asada was a little watery. Chips and salsa are yummy, separate order.

My co-worker brought me to this place. I recommend going early as parking is an issue and it gets packed and service is suuuuper sloooow. Next time, we might just call in our order to go. Anyways, we parked down the block — street parking. Then we walked in and the line to order wasn’t that long –only like 2 people in front of us. Don’t forget to check out their daily special also. But I got two tacos — the halibut and the tilapia, with everything. Cash only, I believe. And the food literally took 30+ minutes to get to us. Practically every table was filled so they had a lot of orders, not to mention the takeout orders and there was a chowhound /delivery service there picking up food for delivery. We had to get back to the office so I don’t think I inhaled my food that fast ever. Wish I had time to savor it more. But it was pretty good. I preferred the halibut over the tilapia. Halibut was breaded and tilapia was grilled but I think you can get most types of fishes both ways. They were both topped with lettuce and like a thousand island type sauce. A little squeeze of lime and it was good to go. There’s different types of hot sauces on the table, if you so desire too. The shrimp cocktails looked good. There are so many other fish options. I also want to try scallops. Just don’t want to wait that long again and would only come back if we weren’t on a timetable. Half indoor, half outdoor seating. The kitchen is in like a trailer on the side of the restaurant too. Probably not a lot of room to cook and thus food took awhile. But man is it get in my belly delicious.

Average place. I came here one afternoon with my boyfriend and his family to grab some much anticipated tacos. We arrived at this location and were immediately put off by how haphazard the cashier/server was. He clearly looked uninterested and unwilling to help. Also, there was no drinks menu posted anywhere in the establishment, yet there was a semi-full bar behind the cash register, which annoyed us a little. We ended up just getting a couple of beers, although a margarita sounded nice. I ended up getting the tilapia and snapper taco — both mediocre and seriously lacking in flavor. I will say that the food felt fresh, but there was not enough love put into it. Overall, good ambiance and mediocre food. A big plus is the awesome patio they have — I’d go back just for that patio!

Found this gem through Unilocal’s weekly feature. Delicious seafood tacos and quesadilla. I really enjoy their lovely outdoor dining area. It feels like you are dining in someone’s backyard. The prawn quesadilla was ! We enjoyed every bit of it. We ordered a beef taco and an octopus taco as well. I think the tacos were yummy, but the quesadilla definitely stole the spotlight. Parking is a pain in the arse though. I recommend coming on weekdays, where parking on the street next to the shop is allowed. The street parking is heavily regulated thanks to nearby auto bodyshop and car dealers parking in the streets.

What a cute little place! We were in the area for some work and decided to stop by for a quick dinner. Husband got the halibut quesadilla and I got the daily special(Mahi Mahi taco, shrimp taco and clam chowder). The food tasted fresh and was quite delicious! The shrimp taco was definitely my favorite. The man chowder was just so so, but I didn’t expect it to be that great in the first place. The quesadilla was also pretty good. Will definitely go back if I’m in the area. The ambience wasn’t too bad either for a small roadside joint. The music and décor definitely sets the mood for the food! They also have a fully stocked bar. There is also some lovely outdoor seating but it was a bit too windy for us to sit out. Perhaps next time!

After a 2nd visit here I decided to finally try the fish tacos and was not disappointed in the slightest. Delicious beyond words can express and most importantly the tilapia in my tacos was extremely fresh. On my previous visit I had a shrimp cocktail which was slightly salty but wasn’t a deal breaker because it still tasted outstanding. My only complaint is I wish it was closer but it just happens to be nearby my doctor in the area so that’s a bonus whenever I am passing by.

This will be my first ever one star review on Unilocal.I usually never give one star reviews unless I think it is actually necessary. The food was good until I found TWO short black hairs in my Camarones Rancheros plate. When I saw the first hair… I was like«okay…it’s just one hair… whatever…-takes hair out». Then I started digging through the food with my fork and found ANOTHER short black hair. I then lost my appetite and questioned the sanitation of the place. I believe that the men working here should wear caps or something that prevents hair from getting into the food. The hair was very short and that is why is believe it was from one of the males working in the kitchen. The tostada de ceviche and tacos were good, but I question the sanitation of this place and will not be back due to this incident.

Can you believe there was a time in my life when I didn’t like fish tacos? I must have been in a dark place in my life. Haha. I had an errand to run in the area and wanted to take advantage of being in SJ. I thought I had gone here before with Cheryl Q. but my review is no longer posted. That’s okay, because back then I probably shouldn’t have reviewed a fish taco place when I didn’t like fish tacos. Today I had their special which came with: Breaded halibut taco– Yum. My fave. I liked that the breading was light. Chicken Flautas — Mehh. a little dry Shrimp and Crab Flautas– I liked this one as it had a good balance of both shrimp and crab. Salad — This was just a plain green salad with a side of the chipotle sauce they use on the tacos. Overall I enjoyed my meal and would come back because it was clean, the service was very friendly, and the food came out hot. I think I’ll stick to the tacos next time but it was nice to try the special for variety.

I will dream about this place. So good. Take a minute to peruse the menu, there are lots of choices plus you also choose the filling you want in each. I had enchiladas del mar, one shrimp one grilled halibut. They came with rice and beans, the rice was the one thing that was just eh. My husband had two tacos, one scallop one salmon. The tortillas were fresh, the fish was cooked to perfection and the combination of ingredients was perfectly balanced. Agua Fresca was strawberry mango, so tasty. I wish I would have ordered chips and guacamole to start, it looked good. Update: we were in town for a week and came here three times. Have to load up before heading back to the desert. Shrimp cocktail was most excellent. Like gazpacho with big shrimp in it.

This has recently become one of my new favorite places to go for fish tacos; and that says a lot! We came out here for some fish tacos to see what all the hub bub was all about! I got the halibut and she got the Mahi tuna along with some Micheladas. Both tacos were very good and generously proportioned. I only got one taco and was very content. The service was also very good! We both had questions, and the gentleman did a lot to helps us make the best choices on what to get. The place itself is very big with a cute outside patio. We stayed inside this time around, but the patio will be or next feeding area. Ha! The price was nice for the quality of food we got. Overall; we were both very happy with what we got and kept picking off each others tacos because they were so good! You may have to check this place out to see what we’re «taco» bout!(Ba dum tsst)

This is my go to spot for tacos! I recently tried their breaded halibut tacos and I’m in love. They are amazing! I’ve tried a few items here: ceviche tostada, salmon tacos, wet seafood burrito & the food never fails to satisfy my appetite. The only downside is they don’t take cash so we always have to stop somewhere before coming here and can’t come on a whim since we don’t usually carry cash. Other than that, I love the décor and outside seating area as well.

This is good«si» food. Their menu has expanded since their early days. They have a great range of taco fillings… octopus, snapper, shrimp and more. Great calamari with a light touch on the preparation. Comfortable seating area with an outdoor patio for those warm days. Let’s meet for a taco and beer!

Love love love this place! I always get scallop everything. My go to is usually a scallop taco, a crab taco, and a shrimp taco. The scallops are big and juicy, cooked perfectly. They don’t skimp on meat either! I recently got the chille relleano with scallops, it was amazing. I took it to go and ate it elsewhere and everyone around me looked like they were drooling over my food as I was eating it. :p

My first experience with this restaurant wasn’t a particularly good one. I’ll have to come back here again to see if this was just an anomaly. I admit, I didn’t have any of their seafood dishes despite the name on the sign. I ordered a simple carne asada burrito. My wife had the chicken quesadilla. It took an hour and fifteen minutes to receive our order! When it arrived it was only about average in quality. The carne asada was a bit overdone and grisly but the sauce and fillers were pleasant enough. Not worth the high prices for what we received. I’ll give it another try in a few weeks and try the fish to see if it gets better.

I probably have more to comment about how cool their drinking watering faucet is, but other than that the fish tacos were really good. i should’ve ask for them without bell pepper since I don’t really appreciate the texture it brings in this certain dish. I wouldn’t really come here for anything else though besides maybe try their horchata or quesadillas. The décor is rather cute though and I like how their kitchen seems unattached. Less added noise to dining guests.

I’ve always thought about trying this place for the longest time, a few weeks ago I got the chance to stop by for dinner and then again today for lunch to try the fish tacos. The food was excellent although today once I tried the fish tacos I realized that they certainly are NOT the best ever. I’ve had better in LA and for cheaper too. The quesadilla I had was quite good although I really should have opted for the scallops which my friend did. THESCALLOPS were AMAZING, those were worth 5 stars. The taquitos I had strangely were more enjoyable than the quesadilla! Low and behold they were OUT of SCALLOPS today when we stopped by for lunch. UGH. Oh well, I had to get two breaded halibut and once prawn taco. Again the breaded halibut were good although certainly not the best fish taco I have ever had. That still goes to Baja California Fish Tacos in Lawndale hands down! They had the best and freshest fish ever, AMAZING. The prices here aren’t cheap either by any means, I paid $ 13 and change just for three of these seafood tacos. In Lawndale they were $ 2 for the basic fish taco. $ 3.50−4 each at most for the more fancy ones, lol. Anyhow, I can’t really compare it to SoCal since the fish taco has been around much longer there than here in NorCal. I do feel like they can improve their fish in the taco, the fish seems to be on the skimpy side truly. The breading almost makes it too crunchy on the outside…(this maybe preference) Although I would like to see more hearty pieces of fish!

Ordered: Chicken enchiladas Carne asada quesadilla Clam chowder Shrimp cocktail First this should be $$ not $!! The shrimp cocktail was the best tasting thing we ordered, and that was moderately good. The enchiladas were filled with cube, dry, chicken, and drowned in mediocre sauce. Rice was a little hard, and unfortunately the clam chowder was comparable to Progresso. This is our second time dining here, and I don’t think there’ll be a third :-/

I’ve been coming here for 4+ years and it used to be my favorite place. After tonight, I would have to be paid to eat here. My boyfriend ordered the breaded halibut burrito and the rice was dry and clumpy, the beans were dry, and the halibut was clearly breaded and fried HOURS ago. Either that or the oil they use in the fryer hasn’t been changed in months. As for me I ordered two breaded halibut tacos. Again, the halibut was very dark in color and was clearly old. None of our food was even remotely warm– it was cold. The only thing we enjoyed here was the glass bottled Coca-Cola. Another thing that bothered me was that I wanted to sit at this empty table and there was an empty Coca-Cola on it. I moved it and wiped the table. Out of nowhere one of the employees comes back inside the restaurant and said that he was sitting there– he sat for 1 minute(literally) before getting back to work.

MUSTGO!!! Amazingly fresh seafood and very reasonable prices. Adorable atmosphere and the service is quick! We had 5 tacos(halibut, tilapia, crab, snapper, and scallop — crab and scallops were the best), the camarones mojo de ajo, clam chowder, and flan. Total was $ 47 before tips. 10000% would go back again.

Tried their lunch special seafood linguine pasta which was good except bit more salt than required for this dish. Seafood was fresh and tomato sauce was good(except bit salty). Cool little place near the corner of Bascom and San Carlos in SJ. My favorite is the scallop quesadilla! I’ve never seen it on a menu anywhere else. It is cooked to perfection with just the right amount of cheese and«si» food. I was craving fish tacos badly and after much deliberation, decided on this place. Dia de Pesca did not deliver at all. We ordered 4 tacos: grilled halibut, tilapia, shrimp and snapper. All of these had an insanely fishy smell and the meat was over cooked. We also ordered a chickenitza that had a really great description including lemon and peanut, but the actually taco was the same as the fish ones — bland with chicken and cabbage. Their chips and salsa were great — chips were warm, light and crispy and the salsa super fresh with a perfect zing. The décor is immensely cute and I wish it was a warm day out because I would’ve loved to sit outside. The chairs inside are also a bit rigid and uncomfy but that really wouldn’t have mattered or I wouldn’t have even noticed if the tacos were on point.

Really don’t know what happened this visit. Tacos were a disappointment. I love going to DDP and think I’m in some nice warm beachy place. They definitely get a star for their chips — fresh and crunchy! We got the snapper, grilled halibut(should’ve gotten the breaded) and tilapia tacos. The cabbage was a bit too thickly shredded than what I like. Unfortunately smelt a bit too fishy to be considered fresh. The halibut was a tad bit overcooked so was dry instead of flaky. My daughter got a shrimp taco and hers looked plump and juicy — the brat did not share and wolfed it down. I ordered a chickenzita but I think they must’ve messed it up coz I did not taste any peanut sauce or any other promised goodness on that taco. I think I got a plain ol chicken taco :( I love Agua Frescas and got an extra cucumber lime — thinking it’d be tart but was very sweet.

Unilocal needs a half star option for those people who sit on the fence(me) about certain businesses. I have been to DDP twice, first time being great and second time being just ok. 3.5 Stars. We ordered: Half-Dozen Rockafella Oysters($ 12.50) — These are loaded oysters baked with spinach, bacon, cheese, and some lightweight spicy mayo sauce. This is probably my favorite item here. 3 tacos($ 4.00 each) — Scallops, Breaded Halibut, and Carne Asada. These were some of the highlighted proteins in other reviews but they were just… sub-par and dry. Even though each one is stuffed and big enough to share between two people, I felt like I kept having to douse some sauce all over to enjoy it. It is a gamble to go here and the food could be really delicious, but I’d rather go somewhere consistent for mah tacooooo tuesdayyy!

Probably one of my new favorite places to go to for Mexican food that has seafood. I didn’t even know this place existed, it’s almost a hidden gem. My cousin introduced me to this place yesterday and I am seriously in love. I ordered a mixta tostada and 3 Grilled Scallop tacos. I love seafood so it really hit the spot. I wasn’t even craving Mexican food when we decided to check this place out, but it reached over my expectations. They even had strawberry horchata, but that’s probably the only thing that disappointed me. The horchata wasn’t milky it more like strawberry flavored water. They have indoor and outdoor seating, Parking is horrendous though depending on what time you go. Also food came out quickly and place of food setting was neat. I would come back to try other dishes.

My favorite Mexican Seafood joint in SJ, this places makes me want to become a Pescatarian. Food: Fresh fish that is cooked to perfection. Either grilled or fried, the preparation of the seafood here is wonderful and you can’t go wrong with either. The halibut tacos are probably their most popular item, we ordered them with grilled and also breaded halibut(fried) and both were super tasty and delightful. I prefer the grilled halibut, it’s lighter and more fresh, which allows me to taste more of the actual fish and less of the breading. My favorite item on the menu is the quesadilla, you can chose any type of fish or order it without fish as well. I like the salmon quesadilla, salmon is light, healthy and packed with the healthy omegas. makes me feel less guilty. The quesadillas are grilled, crispy and packed with flavor. Salsas are fresh and taste with a good kick to them. Ambiance: Super authentic atmosphere. I recommend eating your food outside in the patio. Super colorful, tables are tiled(very Mexican), lots of greenery that provides shade and protection from the heat during summer time. Price: Seafood is pricey, but I’m surprised at how reasonable the prices are considering the fish is high quality, fresh and delicious. Similarly, portions are huge, which makes the price even more reasonable. Service: Limited service, aside from ordering and being served. However, the employees are helpful and patient. Overall: Delicious and authentic Mexican seafood dishes that are fairly priced and of large portions!

Grilled fish taco was good. Nice seasoning and still moist. Shrimp for the tacos was ok. Not good not bad. Breaded fish tacos were horrible. It was like frozen onion ring batter. Thick and hard. I couldn’t see nor taste any fish in it. Oh and what kind of taqueria doesn’t have house made sauce or salsa at your disposal. I don’t want that store bought stuff full of preservatives and crap flavor.

USEDTOBE5STARS. Now, almost unedible. Note my 2 updated 5 star reviews in the past. No longer. I used to come every other month for about 4 years for a mix of salmon, scallop, octopus tacos, and they WERE amazing. In the past few months, everyone said the head chef left and they truly dropped. Now, I’m never coming back. I used to tell EVERYONE to visit here and get the fish tacos. The owners used to know me and my order by heart, and then one day they just completely forgot about me, or maybe they are so stressed without their chef making the same quality that they just can’t focus on the customers anymore. I ordered the same meal of 3 tacos(5 between 2 people) and I normally wait about 15 – 20 mins. I waited 45 mins, asking 3 times after 20 mins for my food, and nothing came. The line wasn’t even long either. I had to get a refund and leave. Sadly, I’m never coming back due to all those factors(owners no longer respect customers and chef is gone). A shame.

They have great combos – in fact, the first time I came here I had a combo with a fish taco and a shrimp taco. The breaded halibut fish tacos were SOGOOD it’s all I’ve ever ordered since I had it that first time. I agree with other reviewers, the service(especially at dinner) has gotten tremendously slow. I don’t keep up with the Dia de Pesca politics so not sure if it’s new ownership or what, but we waited a long time for our last meal here. My husband doesn’t wan to come back based on the slowness, but I’m so torn… it’s the best breaded fish tacos I’ve ever had! And despite the service, the taste/quality wins out for 5 stars.

I come here for lunch all the time! It is by far my favorite Mexican place. They have giant scallops inside their scallop burrito. I know you may question my choice of seafood burrito… but trust me, the flavor and texture melts nicely together. $ 9 is a steal! $ 3.00 for a bag of fried chips and guacamole. You should also get their fresh juice, it is amazingly delicious. I can just take a straw and put it in the pitcher if I know they wont call the police on me. :) CASHONLY. There’s an ATM. Dia de Pesca is a great spot for a weekend late lunch on a sunny day! The food is quality Mexican with a lot of seafood options that are always fresh. The ambiance is food truck/garden shop chic. And the service pretty good. The only things holding it back from five stars are the limited parking, the fact that they only accept cash, and it’s kinda pricey.

It’s Lent for my carnivore of a boyfriend, so we had to find something fishy to eat. Daily special $ 12: Shrimp burrito mojado(wet) with mango sauce. This thing was HUGE. There were a decent amount of shrimps in the burrito and the sauce was on the sweet side, which isn’t something that I normally go for but it works for seafood. Definitely enough for two meals. Two shrimp tacos: For $ 9, it was pretttty steep for two tacos. My boyfriend liked them, but I thought that the shrimp needed more flavor. Overall, this was a really good place for seafood burritos and I can’t wait to come back to try the seafood tortas and plates. When it comes to some good ol’ fashioned meats, I’d probably look on the East Side. It is a little pricey, but that comes with the area and the quality of seafood. AND it’s CASHONLY.
