Had this delivered from DoorDash. –Cheesesteak was uninspired and really lacking. Ravioli was really bland. Pizza bread was meh. The Italian sausage was okay. Wish I had read the reviews before I ordered.

Wish I has read the reviews before ordering! Sausage was cold and red inside, Chicken Parm was burned, Garlic butter sauce was more akin to a paste.

We finally moved back to South San Jose after being away for 15 years. DiPuccio’s used to be a pretty good restaurant, so we returned there for dinner this evening. What a mistake. We were about 5 minutes early and were«greeted» by an unfriendly older man with white hair and very white skin(he may be the owner, but if not, he should be fired) who halted us in our tracks. Like there was some huge of people behind us or something. This guy was the opposite of customer-friendly and in retrospect, we should have told him to keep his food and left. We tried to get the guy to crack a smile by being friendly and making conversation, but his face was in a permanent scowl. I’ve eaten at Taco Bell’s more friendly than this place! The food was average, the service was sub-par, and the price was too high. I can see why we were the only customers in the place. We won’t be back! Thumbs down!

Their Alfredo sauce is terrific. DiPuccio’s was my favorite restaurant as a kid, and I still enjoy it. It’s a hole in the wall, as other reviewers have said, and definitely on the cheaper end(no waiters – you order up front, and get your food when they call you). Reccomendation: fettucini with the alfredo, garlic bread, a salad, and a coke. The meatballs are good too, although I don’t eat meat anymore.

This place USEDTOBE amazing! Loved going here not just for the food but the customer service was great! Now? Well now is a completely different story. The food is microwaved garbage. I usually get the pasta with Italian sausage. Now the pasta has so much water in it its like they just got it out of the dishwasher(in fact that’s what it tastes like). As for the customer service, the new owners are oblivious! The husband is a total asshole. And what’s more is that they don’t even come on Unilocal to dispute any of the negative comments about them. Just goes to show how much they don’t care. This was a great neighborhood restaurant and these people have turned it into something that even Gordon Ramsey would be embarrassed of. These new owners need to leave the restaurant business.

My husband and I recently went here for lunch and we got the combos that come with a drink and a salad. Everything was fine but when I poured out some of the vinegar from the vinegar and oil bottles, tons of little FLIES poured all over my salad and they were ALIVE! I am SO Grossed out by the fact that they Simply DONOTCLEANOUTTHEIRBOTTLES!!! I got a beer for my troubles and it tasted like it was sitting in the cooler for 100 years! Over all, I am Super Disgusted!!! :-(

I’ve been coming here since I was a kid. The place has changed very little. They no longer serve the delicious chicken, but their meatballs are still just as wonderful as I remember. Being Italian and having gone back to visit family many times, I would consider myself very picky when it comes to authentic Italian cuisine. The meatballs here will not disappoint! Pasta is something you can easily replicate but the meat is cooked to perfection. Hopefully I can work out an arrangement to have them shipped to college. Definitely a costumer for life! Can’t wait to come back for winter break.

I think they need to close. Their food is terrible and the service is worse. Had to deal with teenagers asking many times what I want because everyone that came in behind me got served ahead of me. Got it home and not only did I have the wrong order but the food was gross. Overpriced for sub-quality food with terrible service.

The owner/manager of Dipuccio’s(a white-haired elderly man) was very nasty!!! His whole attitude from the time we walked in until the time we left was sarcastic, nasty, and totally unprofessional!!! Although the food was good, respect towards the customer is also very important!!! This guy doesn’t know what the word respect means!!! WEWILLNEVERGOBACKTOTHISPLACEAGAIN!!! Needless to say, I would not recommend this place even to my dog!!!

This review makes me sad to write. DiPuccio’s used to be one of my top 5 go to places when I couldn’t figure out dinner. My family has been coming here for 25 years. The food has always been delicious. Not home cooked Italian but pretty damn close. The new ownership is killing this neighborhood institution. Last night I went for the first time in about 8 months. Staff was spacey but I expect that from high schoolers. The girl couldn’t remember my order as she was prepping it, even though I told her not 10 seconds before. All that could be forgiven but then I got home with my food. Both my red meat sauce and my ranch for my salad were so watered down there were pools of water at the bottom of both containers. The pasta tasted off. I barely ate any last night. The garlic bread recipe was even altered.(How do you mess up garlic bread? Seriously…) I had a slight stomach ache after but didn’t think much of it cause DiPuccios had never done that to me before. Fast forward to today I take my leftovers for work. After I ate my pasta,(salad didn’t even make it past one bite the night before it was so gross) a few minutes later my stomach feels awful. I had to tough it out all day with a horrible stomach ache. I’m so disappointed. I know the former owners would be too. The new owner has taken a loved place and created a horrible atmosphere and horrible food to go with it. I don’t think I’ll ever go back there.

Used to be great now not only food but service sucks! Make sure to check your takeout orders too! I didn’t get my meatball and they refused to refund me unless I come back in. I’m unable to drive and had to get it through door dash so obviously not an option! The man I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude and short tempered with me from the very start as well. Good luck running your business this way!

This is only my second time here in 3 years. My BF used to come here all the time when he used to live here with his Mom, but apparently its changed owners & has gone downhill. With that being said, I am gonna try & be objective & give it a fair review. In my own opinion, I thought the pasta was good but the Alfredo sauce was kinda bland. Garlic bread was pretty ok but had too much garlic on it for me! Meatball had good flavor, but was hard to cut & twrds the end kinda tasted a little chewy. Like it wasn’t cooked all the way. Service was alright not perfect. Girl who helped me seemed to be friendly enough but when I ordered a meatball with my alfredo pasta she covered it with meat sauce instead of asking me which sauce I wanted. On a side note, while sitting here just finishing up dinner, I happen to notice the Owner grabbed some unused napkins off a table & put them back in the napkin holder instead of throwing them away! Not very sanitary if u ask me! If he does that, who knows what the walk in & kitchen area look like! Gross! Don’t even want to imagine that! Chef Ramsay would have a FIT!

I am giving an overall 3 because we got really good service. I think the owner was helping us and she was great. I used to live up the street and ate here 2 – 3 times a month. The food has seem to have gone down. I remember it being better food, and for a smaller neighborhood place it was pretty reasonable. I had the fettucini Alfredo, the Alfredo being«Nana’s secret recipe.» I think Nana’s secret is she went to Safeway for some Alfredo. We dropped $ 27, $ 30 if we have 2 drinks instead of 1, and the food was just ok. I’m sad to see the food quality go down, because we know where they go. I hope they figure it out before the next time I come back to San Jose. My fellow Unilocalers will let us know if it has gotten better. If not, I’m not paying $ 30 for just on food. There are too many choices here to choose from. If you know the owners, please have a talk with them. I want to see Dipuccio’s continue.

New owner do you want to sell the business? Because what once was a neighborhood favorite your crappy colonel sanders looking ass has ran into the ground. You close before your posted hours like you don’t want business and now break up the day. The former owners were awesome and I came three times a month. Every experience since you took over has been awful. I rate your ownership a huge pile of dookie which I would like to smear on your face

Ordered one meatball with my pasta they never put it in the bag only to find that out when I got home. Also ordered cheese ravioli once and when I got home and took a bite, got beef instead. Both times I went it was empty. How can you mess up this bad when there aren’t any costumes?! Not to mention the owner was there and all he was doing was complaining about his life problems and how things are going horribly at the restaurant and he doesn’t understand why. Omg.

The food is good here but I’m not coming here anymore because the owner, who’s name is Dale with white hair, is a real asshole. He’s never friendly whenever I came here. I guess he doesn’t care if his business closes as his no personality attitude is turning customers away. Stay away from this place!!! Screw you Dale!

Service sucks, food is horrible, everything is microwaved or previously made. Place is run by teenagers who don’t care, but then again neither does the owner. The only good thing about this place is that it’s close to home.

When you go out to eat you are expecting nice staff and ownership correct? Well this is exactly why i will not return. food quality is horrible and way too expensive for what you get. The owner was extremely rude. your trying to run a business correct? You might want some more training on how to treat your guest who are the ones paying your bills. I have told many of my friends about my experience..

Sad… this place used to be our family favorite. I Know they got now owners but the Poch family, the Brewer Family would be very disappointed in how the quality has fallen off the chart. The white haired owner/manager is just rude. grilling customers about whether they need to really eat there when the shop is still open for business. Also very slow food service… very low quality food. honestly look at the other recent reviews… the kids seem nice, but poorly trained. The owner needs to wake up and treat his customers a little nicer. Try using fresh produce not bagged. We won’t need to come til reviews change.
