Great place for cha lua! You can get a pretty big roll for only $ 4.50, fresh and delicious! There’s also a variety to choose from, differentiated by the color of the string.

Looking for a place for a sandwich? Skip Lee Sandwiches because they don’t know what a really sandwich taste like. Duc huong not only has good sandwiches at a good price but also a lot of other types of Asian food that tastes better than any other Asian fast food place.

We bought a box of dried food there. When we got home, we found out there was a cockroach inside the box. And it’s still alive and crawling around inside the box! We got upset and went back to the place to return and ask for our money back. They denied to refund, being very rude, and yelled at us to dismiss us. They didn’t want the other customers who were there at the same time to hear the story of the cockroach. We told them that we would send the box of food to the FDA Center. They said«Go ahead, we don’t care!» It was a very very bad customer service that we have never received. The box of food we got only cost $ 14. All we wanted was the fairness for the customers, but we got nothing. All we got were an extremely bad customer service and dirty food. I highly recommend you all to stay away from this place. They have had a history of worst customer service. Anyway, we already sent the box and a complaint letter to the FDA Center. They will come to investigate their store soon.

Came here today to order some food, but the lady was so quick to tell me there’s none, without even looking at me. She turned to the next customer and dismissed me immediately. So rude and unprofessional.

Terrible service. The ladies that work here have no respect for their customers. The old lady before asked a simple question and was responded with very disrespectful attitude. Bring your business elsewhere. They do not deserve it.

To everyone go to duc Huong on king road. I suggest don’t buy anything there. Because I was place order frozen gio song a week ahead and paid for all too. And I was called a day ahead to remind them. But when i come to pickup, they said sorry the co-worker forgot to put in freeze. They told me go home and put in freezer but I will have to fly out in few hours. That’s just there excuse. It not suppose to do that. They already take money ahead then last minute said not ready. The store is not keep their words. I’ll just give 1star for that shop. Suggest don’t ever place order there anymore

Cha lua is the best in San Jose. Customer service is very poor. I went to 2 Duc Huong and both store is not friendly at all. I hope they improve in their customer service. I will be back for their cha lua.

My family and I always get our cha lua from Duc Huong. No other place makes cha lua as good. If you come in the mornings, you will get the cha lua fresh and hot! I also get the plain banh cuon here. I don’t use the fish sauce that comes with though, I don’t like it too much. Here’s a tip: If you come late in the day, close to closing time and they haven’t sold enough of their banh cuon, they will offer a good deal for you to buy it. I have received buy 1 get 1 free deals almost every time I come late in the evenings! Good deal and it’s enough food for days or for many people!

I love Vietnamese deli places… when they don’t cheat me and sell me bad food for a reduced price! I bought cha gio with the white dough to eat for breakfast for cheap and when I opened it, the white dough was wet and slimy… meaning it had gone bad!!! I will never go back again and jeopardize my health for some cheap and bad food.

Mine & my family’s go to place for cha lua. They have different types and they are all delicious. Always hot and fresh. Been coming here for years. Very small store that is always crowded. All the rude Vietnamese folks pushing & shoving & yelling. It doesn’t matter who is first or second. You get your turn if you are aggressive. So I always have to wait a very long time until someone notices me. Everyone is always pushing you aside, putting their arms out & yelling for attention like they are priority. Today, however, I received the worst service there. I don’t expect much from these Vietnamese places but today when I came in, the lady was on the phone talking. She grabbed my stuff like she was going to assist me by ringing me up and what not. But she bagged it while on the phone so I couldn’t ask her a question I had or anything. She badged it then walked away. Another worker came and I asked her a question. She was looking directly at me listening. Then she just turned to the customer behind me and started assisting them. She could have just told me to wait instead of dismissing me. I was very taken by this and am feeling pretty upset at this situation. And if you are wondering who it was, she is the old lady with the glasses. I would give them 4 stars for their food which what Unilocal is about. But because of the many terrible experiences, I don’t believe they deserve it

Cha Lua, or Vietnamese pork sausage, is a popular appetizer that I often order or buy when I’m in the Asian supermarket. Wrapped with banana leaf or silver aluminum foil, it’s a concoction made of pork, fish sauce, and some other items I’m not quite sure of. You’ll sometimes seen it served sliced in sandwiches and occasionally see it served with Vietnamese soup noodles, but when I buy it from the supermarket, I eat it like you would sliced ham. The banana leaf wrapping gives it a nice aroma and subtle flavor and interestingly the pork roll is a white color. Just like kids don’t ask what’s in chicken nuggets or hot dogs, I don’t really think too hard about why a pork sausage is white in color. Duc Huong’s specialty is cha lua and in contrast to the supermarket varieties, they make theirs fresh everyday. When you enter the store, you are greeted by the aroma of banana leaf and row upon row of wrapped and still warm cha lua to be sold to eager patrons. Each roll is quite a bit larger than the ones in the supermarket and are priced at $ 4.25 or 3 for $ 12. I ordered a plain one, but there are others with pork skin and black pepper seeds too. The store front is a small one and they sell a few other food items(red sausage, banh beo from a nearby store). Duc Huong is a nice find and fresh is always better than refrigerated. Duc Huong like most places around these parts is Cash Only.

Food: 3⁄3 Stars Love their banh mi tit nuong — the flavors are what you would expect and the bread is fresh! I am also a fan of their garlic rolls which are amazing right out of the oven. The big draw for me is their cha lua. Tastes like it was made in Vietnam. Every time I come, I always walk out with three rolls. Service: ½ Stars Service is what you would typically find at Vietnamese business where the staff isn’t overly friendly.

Best Vietnamese Deli in the area! It’s not a sit-down restaurant, it’s more like a little shop. They carry Vietnamese fast food items. They have the best cha hue, cha bo, and cha que!

*********************** REVIEW440 ************************ DUCHUONG offers a good selection of CHA~(Vietnamese ham/sausage), a popular snack/food from Northern Vietnam where people pride themselves as professional CHA~ LUA rollers/makers. My mom is from the North & she always buy it here. Traditionally, CHA~ LUA(literally means SILKHAM) is made of lean pork, potato starch, and fish sauce. There are also the variant types made out of beef instead. The pork pasty, Vietnamese fish sauce, salt, ground black pepper, and sugar, then wrapped tightly in banana leaves into a 7 inches high &3 inches diameter shape and boiled. DUCHUONG offers these CHA that are well-known for, if you come in the early AM, when the CHA was freshly made, still smoking hot, it goes so well with Vietnamese Baguette(BANHMI). We used these CHA, slice them thinly over BANHCUON(rolled cake, it is a crêpe-like roll made from a thin, wide sheet of rice flour filled with ground); over sticky rice dishes; over BUN(rice stick noodle soup dishes) & much more! — CHALUA — traditional ham, so delicious, — CHACHIEN — if fried, — CHAHUE — from Hue Central Vietnam style, to serve with BUNBOHUE(spicy Vietnamese noodle soup). — CHABI — Ham with chewy pork skins — super delicious, but fattening! — CHABO — beef version. Beside CHA, Duc Huong also offers other snacks such as CHABONG(pork floss), Sweet sticky rices, BANHBAO(Pork Bun), NEM(fermented pork sausage), and other Vietnamese popular snacks. The quality here is consistent over the years, good price, friendly service and authentic CHA food! My mom loves it here & this CHA here is as good as it gets as I had it when growing up in Saigon.

My mom made Bun Bo Hue and she asked me to get her a roll of Cha Hue. I came in here this morning and surprisingly. it was PACKED! I was thinking, gee this place must be really good to be so filled at such an early time. They worked really fast too. I was in an out in like one minute. The Cha Hue was really fresh and it was hot when the lady gave it to me. It was really good and tasted so fresh.
