El Camino Roof Systems

Yay for Alfredo and El Camino roofing! Due to el nino, everyone is having roof work done and all the roofing companies are booked for months. I have a persistent leak problem i wanted to get fixed in advance of the storms. Despite their busy schedule, Alfredo made time to come out and give me and estimate. The work was complete within days of me receiving the estimate.
Alfredo is super nice and responsive, and so far so good on the roof. He also helped me find a more permanent solution to my roof leak issue so i don’t have to deal with it every 2 years. Less hassle for me. Double yay.

I was looking for a roofer to do my roof and gutters. I was referred to El Camino Roof Systems by a local person who does custom gutters. I live mostly in Gilroy but I needed a roof in our home in San Jose. I didn’t know any local contractors so I was glad to get the referral.
El Camino Roof Systems sent out Alfredo Chavez. Alfredo called me the next day with a really competitive bid and it was lower than the others that I have received. There was also a problem with my home as the roof and eaves were old and there was a lot of dry rot on the eaves and tail pieces. Alfredo said that they would not know the full extent of the damage until the old roof was removed but he promised to treat me right on the repair work.
I took his word for it and hired his company to do the job. They showed up later in the afternoon and worked until almost sundown tearing off the existing two layers of roof material. They hauled it all away. The very next day, one man showed up and he worked the entire day preparing my roof by removing all the old rotten wood and eaves and tail pieces and worked very hard replacing all of these pieces. The following day two men showed up and put all new sheeting and roof felt material down in preparation of the new shingles. We were actually ahead of the schedule that I was quoted.
Finally on Friday — San Jose temperature hitting 101 degrees — these two poor guys worked the entire day placing down the shingles. I felt so sorry for them working so hard in the heat. They took a short break in my garage to cool down and still in great spirits and joking around, they jumped up on the roof and knocked out the job by the end of the day!
Alfredo followed up with a phone call to say that the job was done and he gave me a great discount on the day’s labor of repairing the dry rot — just as he said. Alfredo appears to be a man of his word, very polite and stands by his commitment to do a great job! I am impressed with him, the other workers and the company as a whole. My experience was great. I can’t believe that we just talked less than a week ago and already my roof is done! On to the next project! I hope the rest of the remodel goes as well.

A week or so ago, had intro appointment to meet with Mark-​Owner at my property re a reroof of 3-​story apt bldg. Mark was instructed to call when he arrived and he was informed where he could part in front of property. Day of appointment, he arrives with an employee, drives to rear of property, sets up their ladder and they go up on roof without my knowledge or permission. 20 or so minutes late for our appointment, I go to front and then rear of property, only to find a ladder set up against rear of building up some 28 feet or so to roof. From inside, I walked up the interior stairs to roof to find two adults roaming around like delinquent kids. It took four times of my repeating, «you need to leave this property now», before they tuned in and figured out I wasn’t joking.
So they left, as confused and irresponsible as they had arrived. Good news is I have no idea about their workmanship and the really, super good news is I’ll never have to experience that nightmare or in other words ever find out. Ya just can’t fix stupid.

I called the office again (4^th phone call) as I had not heard back from Chris after leaving a message two days prior. I spoke with Sam who was very nice and said he would come out on Monday. He showed up as promised and took a picture of the damage. Told me they would take care of it. Will update again once it’s fixed.
