First of all, I have had several root canals and know the procedures. Well, it was my daughters turn now because the general dentist wasn’t sure if she needed a root canal or not. He said she had an infection and prescribed antibiotics and Advil for the pain. We were referred by a general dentist. First mistake is not having a dentist that can handle all procedures. When you go to a specialist they have the privilege of charging whatever they want and you are in pain so you hope they will be honest too. He looks at her tooth, take x rays and says she needs a root canal. They proceed to have me talk to the billing dept before doing the procedure, I ask” Is it necessary?” they say yes. Of course it is going to cost a fortune so because the general dentist gave her medication she isn’t in pain. What an awful position to be in. I decide to not have this done because I don’t believe them. Before we leave I am billed 200.00 for seeing him and xrays first. I call another dentist that day(a dentist that does handle all procedures) he looks at her tooth and says she doesn’t need a root canal she just needs the tooth next to it fixed! He fixes the tooth and she is fine. Moral of the story. See your dentist regularly and avoid this scenario and just because they are a specialist doesn’t mean they know everything.

My first root canal and it was painless compared to the pain I was feeling. Never experienced pain like this! Dr. Young did the root canal, and he was very gentle. I really felt nothing. This was as painless as having a filling, except it took about 45 minutes. I called the office for an emergency root canal(I had a consult the day before), and they were able to call Dr. Young in within 2 hours. The staff is efficient, and I was never asked for my insurance or payment before the procedure. I had a crack in my tooth that extended into the distal wall so the tooth now will have to be pulled. The pain relief was worth it. I had to pay for this out of pocket, but felt the cost was reasonable.

Did you say painless root canal? Wow for a week my jaw area was bothering me but the pain would come and go. I was on a medication for a bad case of poison oak and I think it was helping to mask the pain. As the other med was tapered off the pain in my jaw would increase. I finally got my buns into the dentist who told me there looked like there was a small crack in a tooth and sent me off to Endo Assoc. I was scared to death. I NEVER have any teeth problems and feared the word root canal as most people do. I met Dr. Fukawa and he explained what he would do. They don’t actual touch the root but the pulp inside the tooth is removed(think of it as the lead in a pencil). He cleans out the pulp then puts in an antibiotic to sit for about 5 days and covers it with a temp filling. When I go back next week he’ll insert some rubber into the pulp hole and puts a temp cover over that. Then it’s back to the dentist for a crown. My point of this review is to say how PAINLESS the whole procedure was. Even that night and the next day my tooth area did NOT bother me at all. Better yet compared to the pain I was having prior to the surgery I feel wonderful. How many people have you heard say root canal was such a relief??? hahahaha My only reason for not giving him 5 stars is this procedure is a small fortune. so hope you have good insurance. But they are competitive.
