Just wanted to let everyone know that this place shut down a couple of months ago. I guess they were having trouble getting good staff and keeping this place running… Too bad. Another small neighborhood business bites the dust.

Gald I found this place, it is easy to miss if you’re not driving right by it because it’s in a kind of corner at Immanuel Luthern Church on the Leigh Ave. side. But when you do find it, it is the neatest little café. However, there is more seating to the side with a nice area outside. The furniture and couches are really cool and it’s usually a nice, quite atmosphere. I love the coffees they offer. And yes, it is cheaper than Starbucks. I encourage people to make a visit.

Kimberli has hit it on the nose. What the heck happened? If I wanted apathetic teenagers watching movies on their laptops to serve me runny shots in lukewarm soy and call it a latte, I would… hm… actually, I can’t finish that sentence. I have never wanted that. I tried it a second time two days ago. With reserved optimism, I tried for drip coffee. Agreed, Kimberli. Coffee-flavored water. And being a sweetie-pie behind the counter doesn’t change that. This place used to be awesome. You want to be a coffee shop? Train your employees to make coffee.

oh geez, so up until this morning, this used to be my most favorite place to go get some good local coffee, that isn’t a chain! I enjoy supporting small businesses… in the last few weeks things have been changing, and NOTIN A GOODWAY… the warm atmosphere, welcome, and attention to customers has disappeared. It’s some young person in there now serving, and NOT making the good coffee that the woman that was in there making 2 weeks ago. its VERY cold and not welcoming at all. there were some kids waiting for the barrista to finish with the customers, and she was on the phone on a personal call it seemed… Where did my barrista go? I really look forward to her warm welcoming smile, bright attitude and laughter when I get there in the AM. Coffee this morning was just not what it had been… surely she cant be on vacation this long! and where did the water/condiment counters go? the TV? the counter space when you are being served is even closed off. :((don’t you want our business, why do you push us away??) Did management change? I mean, don’t get me wrong, sometimes change is good, but it’s been two weeks, and I am still waiting… because this is NOT good change… it was so convenient to walk over and get my yummy warm inviting coffee… this morning it tasted like flavored water. :( NO bueno… bring back what worked, was warm, inviting, friendly, and GOOD!!! no tipping the barissta for me today! I felt like i was inconveniencing the girl behind the counter. I am NOT a ‘no tipping’ kind of person. seriously! i appreciate a good cup of coffee that doesn’t taste ‘thin’… gimme something that is ‘full’ flavor and keeping me coming back… I’ll try again next week, because i am hopeful that this is just a nightmare I need to wake up from… and I usual like to give things 3 chances, cuz thats how i roll, especially when change occurs, but whew wee… bring back the manager that was there before…

My friend and I used to have a couple of hours to kill between our class and our bus ride in the freezing cold so we took a chance on this place. The inside is freaking awesome! Super cozy, seating everywhere and nice people behind the reg. I’m not too crazy about the coffee, or maybe I just didn’t get it at a good time? Either way, the hot cocoa is good and the food is pretty nice too. The atmosphere alone is worth the trip. I had a friend call it «Jesus Coffee» because of it’s proximity to a church(in a church?). Whatever you call it, it’s a great place to play board games on a rainy day or hang out with friends or study. I’m no longer at City College but still make it a point to frequent the café. They also have frequent buyer cards which is a bonus!

This place is great. The staff is friendly whenever I go in. The prices are so much better than starbucks. I got a large gingerbread white mocha in February(no waiting till December) for under $ 4. It is defiantly worth it to come check it out.

I love Fireside Coffee. The staff is friendly and helpful. They take the time to explain the coffee drinks and/or try to meet your needs by asking you what you would like and making suggestions to fit. The prices are cheaper the chains such as Starbucks. They offer free WiFi. They have a great fireplace and a meeting room if needed. It’s a great quiet place to work, meet with friends or just enjoy some quiet time. Also pet friendly.

I agree with the first reviewer. It is easy to miss, but, it is also strategically located in the unimaginable gap of starbucks and peetes of the area. Serving Equator Organic coffees, the staff are friendly and prices seem to be geared toward a students budget as they are located across the street from San Jose City College. Highly recommend if you use the Leigh Ave. exit off of 280 S or use Leigh Ave. to get to 280N. Plenty of parking.
