Your typical sushi place. This is a Korean-owned sushi place so there is variety between Japanese and Korean cuisine. However, there are no small side dishes you would get at other places but that’s not a big deal. Overall, this is a solid place. As stated earlier, there are a lot of options between Korean and Japanese dishes(no tofu soup though haha) and a lot of variety with the sushi rolls. The specialty sushi rolls tasted petty good but then again, when can you ever go wrong with sushi? Main complaints: — A lot of the rolls are very similar looking at the menu and thus, similar in taste — in regards to filler, there is kind of a lot. A lot of the rolls’ main source of protein is imitation crab Price wise, it’s pretty reasonable. The service was top notch, with the waitress constantly checking up on our table. All in all, I’d come here again and I think my family(I brought them to try this place with me) likes this place too. It’s located in the nice part of downtown San Jose so the area around it is pretty and lively. Parking kind of sucks but there are ample parking lots where you can pay to use.

Was expecting the sushi to be pretty great since this place has so many reviews, but it was very sub par. The nigiri pieces were way too big. Bigger than a mouthful, which is just not authentic. The wasabi was very weak. I was using ½ teaspoon for every nigiri piece and my mouth barely burned. The miso was just okay. For the price, it wasn’t worth it. I ordered sake nigiri, toro nigiri, ebi nigiri and 1 salmon skin hand roll and my order was $ 33. Wasn’t awful. Won’t return.

My experience with Fuji was not the 4-star experience Unilocal led me to believe it would be. We ordered assorted sashimi, Hawaiian rainbow, and 3 of a Kind. The sashimi was fresh and delicious, with nice thick cuts. The Hawaiian rainbow, listed under spicy rolls, was not the least bit spicy. There were also not enough macadamia nuts to add any crunch or texture to the roll, as it was very soft and squishy. The 3 of a Kind was equally without texture, despite being filled with shrimp tempura. Furthermore, the itogaki/bonito flakes did not work with the dish well, leaving an strange aftertaste that overwhelmed any fish flavor in the roll itself. The service was friendly despite the restaurant being so busy, but the food definitely did not live up to any reputation. Perhaps I went on a bad day and ordered the wrong items, but in any case, there are many other Japanese sushi bars for me to try before I come back to Fuji.

Since I moved downtown almost 2 years ago I have ate here probably 12 or more times and I love the flavors here. Done right in my book. I don’t venture a lot and mostly get the bento boxes(I loooove teriyaki chicken of course because I’m a… Im a what?.. whatever) and I noticed that they are super consistent with everything about them. sometimes I call 15 – 20 min before closing and they take my order… professional service it seems but I really love the flavors here. One of the only places in SJ that I completely lose myself in the food. Keep in mind I am mostly talking about the bento boxes. D-licious!

Overall quality and price was fair and delicious. Ordered a bunch of different things on menu that waitress recommended. I like the drink special, buy 1 get 2nd for .01 I believe its a korean japanese sushi place. The place can get loud.

This tiny cute restaurant was packed on a Wednesday night at 9pm! I don’t know if they’re usually this packed or if it was because we happened to go a night when there was a sharks game. The two of us sat at the sushi bar, and I wasn’t very pleased with the service. The waitress took the order of a guy next to us(who sat down after us) before they even took our drink order… After she took his order, she took our order and we waited for a really long time for our food. The guy next to us finished and we still hadn’t gotten our food yet, so we asked another waitress and it seems like they never put our order in. They rushed the order and we got our food within 5 minutes. After that, the service from the other staff was very pleasant! I understand the mistake because they were probably too busy, but despite that, if our waitress has checked up on us just once, she would’ve noticed that we didn’t get our food yet. I ordered 2 orders of sake(salmon) nigiri, which were fresh and was a good portion. I also ordered the lion king roll. I find their rolls to be on the cheaper end, compared to some other places. They do skimp a little on the fish, but that was expected from their prices. Their lion king roll had bonito flakes on top, which I didn’t really like, but it was good– a standard lion king roll. Another plus is that we got 15% off our total just by checking in on Unilocal!Overall I would recommend this restaurant… when they’re not too busy and with the 15% off, it’s a great deal. The prices are also very fair, so it’s worth it even without the discount.

The more I’ve come here, the better my experiences have been. Sake wise, and sushi wise. Beware: take a good look at your server and take a moment to memorize(most likely her) face because the next time you want to ask her for something, you might have a hard time distinguishing your server apart from the others. They wear the same exact outfits and usually have very similar body types and you’ll feel bad when you’re bothering the wrong server for things! I’m Asian myself and even I had a hard time with this task multiple times at this sushi place! I’ve tried different rolls coming here and they’ve been extremely fresh. Every time has proven to be better than from my wimpy first time. Seating at the bar is especially nice during game time. They have TVs playing different games for customers to enjoy while eating sushi. Bento boxes are impressive as well! Meat and flavor is good with generous portions. Great sushi spot in downtown San Jose. The Unilocal coupon for buy 1 get second sake for 1 cent works for either small or large sake. I had a better time when I opted for the for the large sakes ;)(shareable)

Quality sushi restaurant for a weekday lunch. Picked up an order to go on a rainy Friday afternoon since it was nearby. Had the sushi sashimi combo — Included miso soup and salad. The portions were decent and fresh, but it didn’t include a side of rice. It had tuna, hamachi, salmon, ebi and garnish of shredded daikon and a good portion of pickled ginger. Not much to gripe about besides the miso soup being a bit too salty. My colleagues had the bento box lunch combo, and they really enjoyed it. The portions were big, a good value for the price if you’re a hungry man or woman.

Came on a Thursday night, pretty crowded. But didn’t have to wait at all, sat down right away for 2 of us. The sushi was decent and but took a while for the food to come out. May have been because there was just a lot of people that night. I like sushi a lot and have been to a variety of places and I’ve noticed that different restaurants make their spicy mayo differently. This restaurant in particular, was not my favorite and I dip all my rolls in spicy mayo. Other than that, the food was good and the price was decent.

If I had remembered to check-in every time I came here, I’d probably be blown away by the number of times I have visited this place. :P Fuji is one of my favorite sushi restaurants to stop by during my gaps in between classes; since it’s close to school, I get a nice walk out of it too! ^_^ The building is pretty small compared to other restaurants, and it’s dimly lit with traditional Japanese themed decorations and wall art. There is a minimal amount of seats, but since I usually visit during lunch time on weekdays, it’s not bad at all. My friend and I usually get seated right away, and the waitresses are always ready to take our orders – the dishes comes out quickly too. :) As for the food itself, I could probably eat almost every single roll on the menu – every thing is absolutely delicious! Some of my favorites are: Godzilla roll, 3 of Kind roll, Rainbow roll, South San Jose roll, and the SF Roll. Pricing is pretty average – most rolls range from $ 11-$ 15 dollars depending on the ingredients used. Parking is a pain in the ass to find, since most of the side street spots are already occupied; it is usually difficult to find a place without having to pay, so you’d be better off walking if it’s possible – just keep that in mind! DEFINITELY coming back and I will probably keep coming back even after I graduate. ^_^

Needed a place to meet a friend who was in for the east coast. This was an okay option. I’ve had better sushi, but what I did get satisfied considering I had a fairly large lunch. Noise level wasn’t too loud so my friend and I were able to catch up without it feeling like a shouting match.

The need for sushi reared its«yummy» head so for our Friday night dinner, I chose Fuji Sushi as our new destination. Knowing it was a Friday night meant that there were going to be TONS of people on the road so we gave ourselves ample time to get there because we knew parking was going to be nightmare. It sort of was, but luck was on our side! I had also called in to make reservations, but there really was no need to do that. There were still plenty of tables left. When you first see Fuji Sushi, you’ll notice that the restaurant can’t be missed. Its neon lights flash like a beacon and even the interior design is alight with twinkling lights and Japanese lanterns. The restaurant itself is quite large, but the tables are a bit close together so you’ll have moments when you’ll eavesdrop on other conversations. Service was slow since it seemed like they were having a lot of to-go orders, but the waitresses were doing the best they could. Wanting to eat something lighter than sushi rolls, I ordered a deluxe sashimi plate(regular size) and my hubby got the bento box with shrimp tempura and beef teriyaki. They served us a large salad to share as well as individual miso soups first. My hubby liked how the soup wasn’t too piping hot when it hit our table, making it easier for him to sip without having to stop every once and a while to blow on it. The salad was really delicious, especially from the addition of cherry tomatoes. My sashimi platter was served first and it took almost another 10 minutes before my hubby got his bento. NOTGOOD. But at least the waitress came by to apologize about the wait, so that made it better. For my sashimi platter, I got four pieces of the following fish: hamachi, tuna, and salmon. Each slice was very thick and cut into even slices. They were so buttery and smooth! I practically gulped them all down. My hubby really liked his bento box as well, noting the sweetness of the teriyaki sauce that paired well with the tender beef. He was sweet enough to give me some of his shrimp tempura that was wonderfully crispy, light, and super yummy when dipped in their ponzu sauce. He practically cleaned the whole box! By the end of our dinner, our bill was ridiculously cheap!(Especially since we used the 15% off promo from checking in.) While parking can be sort of a hassle, the food at Fuji’s will make up for it. We didn’t try any rolls this time, but I’m positive that my hubby and I will be back again soon. If tonight was any indication as to what our future dinners will be like, then Fuji’s is truly the real deal!

I came here once before I came here a few days ago for a weekday work lunch. Both experiences have been very good and the service was very quick. The parking here on a weekday was a little inconvenient as downtown was super busy. There’s street parking and we decided to risk it and park in the 30 min spot right across. The place here was packed during lunch. We were seated promptly(luckily) and our food order was taken quickly. To our surprise, our meals came out super quick! I ordered the 2 item lunch bento box with salmon teriyaki and California rolls. My coworker ordered a certain blossom roll(I think the name was pink blossom roll?). My bento box also came with miso soup and rice. I thought for the price point, my meal was worth it. Coming out to $ 11, I got a little of everything. I think for future lunch visits here, I’ll order the bento boxes.

Space: small. Call ahead. Maybe20 tables and just inches between the tables. Setting: loud and busy. Sushi bar too. Service: good Food: oh my god roll was amazing. Mixed tempura was just okay. And the spicy tuna roll was pretty good. Prices: good. $ 10-$ 15 per roll

So glad I came here last night! I’ve tried two other sushi places in SJ so far but only like one, mainly because their edamame was good. But this place was great! They were pretty busy for a Wednesday night. The sushi was fresh and our food came out quick. We ordered the Tiger roll and the spider roll. Both were delicious but me and my husband thought they could maybe use a little more sauce or just a touch of something. Customer service was great and we received 15% thanks to Unilocal check in. We’ll definitely come back here!

Solid enough little sushi joint in downtown San Jose. The service is fast and friendly, the fish is fresh, and the prices are reasonable — what more could you want? Reservations aren’t necessary, but are useful for large groups.

I think it’s getting to the point where I’ve been to the majority of the sushi spots in the San Jose area. Pretty crazy, but thankfully this was one spot we had never been to, so we decided to give it a shot. A brief wait, not too long for two people. Service was quick and efficient, and I guess that’s what you need when your restaurant is as small as this one. You need to bus those people in and out. Sushi was pretty good. The sakura role was a bit on the smaller side, while pricey as well. Not my cup of tea, but the fiancé loved it. My rolls were great and fatty. Need to stay away from those deep fried rolls. It’s a small place, but most sushi places are. Gives that Japanese aesthetic feel. You need that feel for your sushi spots. Overall, a thumbs up from me.

What? A 15% off Unilocal check in and buy one get 1 cent sake?! Sadly I didn’t get the sake, but next time for sure. This time around was my first time, and I decided to go with their 3-item dinner bento boxes because a friend told me it was a popular item. 3 items for $ 15.95 or 2 items for $ 13.95. Got here around 6pm, and parking can be difficult to find in this area. There is metered parking and a couple parking lots. Apparently this place can get packed easily so my friend has to reserve ahead of time. The restaurant inside has a decent amount of seating for a Japanese restaurant. For the bento boxes, I ordered salmon sashimi, beef teriyaki, and bbq eel. Of course I don’t expect bento boxes to be anything amazing, and sadly the bento boxes here proved me right. Chicken teriyaki was plenty, the salmon sashimi had only 4 pieces and the bbq eel also had 4 pieces. If you want the most for your money from bento boxes, I would suggest ordering teriyaki, katsu, and tempura. Also, my 3-items were not filling at all. Japanese décor and overall ambiance definitely gives the place character, but next time I’ll try the rolls to be sure if I like this place or not.

Alright Fuji — you won me over. After dining here for lunch FAR more times than my check-in count would imply, I have to say that Fuji is in fact… pretty decent. I’ve only come here for lunch, and although *sometimes* the service is spotty, I would say about 80% of the time we’re seated immediately and served our food within 5 – 8 minutes of waiting. Not bad for one of the busier lunch spots in Downtown San Jose. After many, many lunches here, these are the takeaways: Get the bento box. At 10.25, you get a soup, salad, edamame, rice, and two side dishes that lean towards one of two ranges: extremely generous and okay(chicken/beef teriyaki, mixed tempura) to extremely tasty and small(Korean BBQ short ribs, unagi). Still, it’s very tasty and often out in a flash. You can also get a third side for just $ 2. amazing. If you’re craving a little something more sushi-like, I’d recommend the hand rolls — the serving sizes for the fish inside are pretty generous, but are constructed so well that you’ll end up eating them in a flash(a shame since they’re $ 6.95 ea). The hamachi is made with huge chunks of fish, while the unagi has that delicious avocado-unagi sauce that everyone loves. So good. Also, get the spicy edamame. They toss it with garlic, soy, and ginger and it’s AMAZING. They are in fact pretty spicy, so be careful of that. Overall, Fuji Sushi’s great. I’m glad I gave it a second and third and fourth and fifth chance. I’m a fan. — sweet: delicious bento boxes, quick service bitter: sometimes crowded, some nigiri and rolls a bit pricey.

Came by for lunch the other day and it was a mediocre experience. Managed to get a seat by the bar upon arrival during the lunch rush. The 3 item bento box was okay with the highlight being the Korean BBQ which was flavorful and tender. The two piece shrimp tempura was okay with the batter on the thicker side… The spicy tuna roll was okay but it wasn’t rather spicy and the rice was rather mushy… The salad had too much dressing and the bowl of rice was also rather mushy… Service was okay. Seems like the wait staff and sushi chefs are Chinese while the owners are Korean… ~$ 18/head after tax and tip for lunch.
