Had the coffee and iced tea. Omg I drank it at 4 o’clock and at 1 am I was having trouble sleeping. Strong stuff. Interesting scenery. Nice girls to look at. Probably a really fun place if you like playing cards, smoking and can speak Vietnamese.

This place is the nearest coffee shop for me. I go here often, it’s a wonderful chill environment. Not to crowded. Good Thai tea and Iced coffee. They have a lot of T. V’s, they play mainly sports and news.

I’m never coming back here. If you’re looking for a place to sit and chat with a friend over coffee and a pastry, this place is not for you. If your lungs run on cigarette smoke instead of oxygen, though, then this might be your scene. As you enter, the first thing you notice is the strong stench of cigarette smoke and people brazenly smoking under several«NOSMOKING» signs. We asked for a section without smoking and were led to an outside patio with a similar«NOSMOKING» sign. Big surprise, there were two men smoking out there, too. I had a decent cup of coffee there, but it was overpriced, and I’m convinced that sitting there took a couple of years off my life.

I wandered into this place looking for coffee and internet. I was shocked to find myself the only woman patron, and the only white girl. The techno was pumping, lights were down, and guys crowded around tables smoking and playing cards. I half took my briefcase and turned around. But curious, I stayed to see how uncomfortable I could get. No menus up anywhere, but lots of lotto games. The scantily clad girl offered me a print menu. Did I walk into a gaming haven or a brothel? I asked about an internet connection, and she hastily said yes, but didn’t give me a code. No warm welcome there. I’ll hide behind my Thai iced tea and laptop and laugh at myself for being here. There! Now you know, my fellow Unilocalers!

Yes the review are right. But if this isn’t your place, then walk back out. Hopefully when you visit you will be served by Linh; nice girl…

I didn’t know what this place was. I was on my way to meet with a few of the real estate agents at Coldwell Banker in that shopping center, but arrived early and decided to get some coffee. I saw the sign, Gia Gia Coffee and went to check it out. At first I thought it was closed, since all the blinds were down, but it had a sign that said«OPEN» so I went in. Then I realized why the blinds were closed. While the place is a coffee shop, it’s one of those novelty lingerie coffee shops. I did order a large black coffee, which I was then told they only have one size. So I took the $ 4 coffee, which tasted like sugar water and some type of liquor that turned my stomach very quickly. I couldn’t finish it and I don’t think I’ll ever go back there. As far as the attractiveness of the ladies, as those who come to this place will want to know, they were Asian, with very attractive bodies, but not model faces.

CLOSED — More like 3.5 stars. The staff is friendly enough = they make eye contact. They also serve some appetizer/snack foods here. It’s well ventilated due to its draftiness, but still beware if you don’t like secondhand smoke. The coffee was good, and the decent comp tea gets refilled quite often. Male patrons here really like to play cards, chess and lottery tickets. Female patrons are not the homebody types. Too bad it is located so far south on 101, but the«Phở Y #1»( ) next door helps.

use to think this place is nice, until they let people smoke inside. Gross, not coming back here

Checked this place out almost a year ago with a friend, and even came back after that a few other times. Strange at first, not really my scene but they always have a good looking girl working during the day. I think these 1 star reviewers don’t really understand the point of a Vietnamese coffee shop. If you don’t «fit in» you probably shouldn’t be hanging out in it at all. They obviously serve tea by default and of course there is free internet, but that doesn’t mean you have to «open your laptop» by all means. This place is probably one of the more chill Viet coffee shops I’ve been too. I do like the new age interior design of the place… compared with others places in SJ, its pretty nice.

This place is shady. The first bad sign were the covered front doors. I went in, and the place smelled of smoke and incense. Flat screen TVs everywhere. Seemed like a gambling shop of some sort. I walked up to the counter and the woman gave me a really weird look as if I shouldn’t be there. It didn’t help I was the only white guy in the whole place. I noted the espresso machine among their tons of messy computer/tv/network cables behind the counter, so I asked for a mocha. She picked up some pitcher that looked like it had been sitting there all day, put some ice in another pitcher, and mixed the two. What came out was actually pretty decent, but a mocha DOESNOTEQUALICEDCOFFEEWITHWHIPPEDCREAM. She was too far in the back for me to holler without disturbing the quiet in the place, so I paid my $ 4(!!!) for the drink and left. WTF??? SHADY.

I have to agree with 1-star Unilocaler. The front doors are covered in some reflective tint material. Once through, it’s like stepping into a cave or a small village in Vietnam? It was dark. It was smoky. There were groups of Vietnamese men gambling throughout the place with gambling machines even on coffee tables for easy access. Yes, there were flat screen tvs, pretty waitresses, and a complimentary drink of some kind. As tempting as those all were, it just wasn’t the ideal environment to open up a laptop. It was dark and I felt like I was in the middle of some sort of… plotting. I had lunch next door at the Phở restaurant where a patron mentioned he heard that GiaGia was a front for some undercover something-something. If you’re looking for the typical coffee shop, this isn’t the place. I’m sure it’s cool in other aspects…(is it me or are the 5 star ratings mainly from men reviewers?)

This place far, far exceeded my expectations. The drinks were amazing(i had iced vietnamese coffee and my boyfriend had the taro shake), and we got to watch hip hop videos on like 5 flatscreens while really nice staff topped off our complimentary iced tea. You can also play video games and lottery there. It was awesome. And they have a back patio! Open til 11:00 on the weekends.

I’m not a big fan of Vietnamese Coffee shops however, Gia Gia is very different from all the other Vietnamese Coffee shops. Smoking is absolutely not permitted but there is a back patio for those who need a smoke break. The waitresses are very fashionably well dressed and friendly. Gia Gia definitely draws an elder mature crowd. They have 5 mega touch screen where you can relax and lounge on the couch, 7 plasma TVs and each plays sports, news and music videos. The music volume is not blasted so, you’re able to chat with your friends and not have to raise your voice… The most exciting part is they have HOTSPOT& Scratchers! During my visit 2 customers won $ 8005⁄5! BINGO!!! Gia Gia serves food and varieties of drinks. The beef stew is excellent! Furthermore, your choice of drink comes with a glass of ice tea and let me inform you; the minute you take a sip, the waitress comes towards you with a pitcher of ice tea and refills your tea… YAY…ALLYOUCANDRINKICETEA! haha… Lastly, Gia Gia also offer free wireless Internet access.

There is a wide selection of Vietnamese Coffee shops in East Side San Jose. And I have to say, this one is my favorite? Let me break it down… Good music, good coffee, clean place, comfortable seats, plenty of room, and most of all… No smoking, oh how i love fresh air. They serve free tea just like any Vietnamese coffee shop, and the tea taste good too. This is not your typical place to look at girls in scandalous outfits. This seems more like a modern and family friendly Vietnamese coffee shop compared to the other ones out there where girls are in lingerie, people are smoking inside, gangsters everywhere :) This is the only Vietnamese coffee shop that I can take my girlfriend to without her yelling at me.

I’ve spent countless lazy Sundays here, gulping countless carafes of cheap tea and avocado shakes to recover from countless nights of indifferent boozing. Coffee and tea is the staple but I’m more inclined to reccommend their Rau Ma Dau Xanh.

Jon N. pretty much hit the nail on the head with this one. It’s dimly lit and there are lots of Vietnamese men huddled in corners. It all seemed very mafia-esque to me; maybe they were«doing business» or deciding which hooker… I mean…“server”… to take home. Not much really surprises me anymore in terms of ESSJ weird-ness, but this place did. I had fun with the touch-screen games though, and my lemon soda was refreshing. And free hot tea with any order – which is sort of useless and redundant since all you can order here is beverages anyhow – is still a nice touch.

This is definitely isn’t a normal coffee shop, something I realized the second I set foot in the door. Vietnamese music is playing on the speakers, and the many LCD screens on the walls were each tuned to a different sports channel. There are some touch screen consoles on some of the tables where men sit and I assume are gambling. Before I went in I was just expecting a normal coffee shop, so I really had no idea what the hell was going on. I don’t think the people working there knew english very well. The«baristas» were dressed pretty provocatively. Maybe someone else can explain what this place is about. Nevertheless, it was nice. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee. It was very rich and strong — coffee usually doesn’t have a big effect on me, but after drinking it I was wide awake. The $ 4 price tag was somewhat surprising though. If you want your order to go, walk up to the counter — otherwise, just sit down at one of the tables. If you take your coffee at one of the tables, they give you a glass of ice water that has an interesting floral perfume. It helps cut the richness of the coffee. Although it wasn’t your usual coffee shop experience, I was strangely relaxed just sitting in one of the wicker chairs, zoning out, and watching ESPN. A little weird, but I liked it.
