I needed a top case for my 2008 Macbook Pro. I found a listing on Ebay via Go Mac Pro, but there was one thing that concerned me. The listing said the part was for a model with a glossy screen while my machine has a matte screen. I emailed Go Mac Pro with the question through Ebay and received a reply saying«It will work fine.» With the replacement top case in hand, and disassembly of my machine, there were a few differences along with one that made it impossible to use as a replacement. I took a photo of the part they sent next to the part that needed to be replaced, and clearly marked the differences. I sent the photo via email and the reply I received was«No problem, send it back with the photos of yours, and we will replace it.» I shipped the item back the same method it was shipped to me, which cost just over $ 17. I included a letter stating everything that happened, and that I am shipping the item back at an additional cost of $ 17.xx to me. About a week later, I received a voicemail from Rick, stating that they had the correct part, and are ready to ship it, but are waiting for me to invoice them via Paypal for the $ 17.xx as it was their fault, and to call them. I was pleasantly surprised and happy I gave this company the benefit of any doubt. When I called, I spoke with Rick briefly, and was then transferred to Tony. Tony is the owner, and said he will be happy to ship me the part as soon as I send them a payment for shipping for $ 15. I explained the story from the beginning, including the voice mail stating that as it was mac-pro’s fault, I was asked to invoice the company for the extra shipping cost to me. His reply was that it was my fault, not theirs. I stated again that I wasn’t sure it would fit, so I asked, and was assured it would fit. His reply was that it was my fault and I should have looked at the pictures. For the record, the pictures did look the same until the part was disassembled. After explaining again that I asked the question and was misinformed by the store, he continued to deny any fault. He also said«We are not running a charity here.» He told me he would send 2 just in case. I only need one, and have no use for a second one. I agreed to pay the shipping as I needed the part and I also explained to Tony that I am a very unhappy customer. He did not seem to care at all. I received the package and it did include 2 top cases. This does not make up for the fact that I have now paid almost the same amount for shipping as I did for the part itself. Not to mention, one is missing the bluetooth piece so I wouldn’t be able to use it even if I needed it. Bottom Line: After a number of pleasant exchanges, even with the error, my experience with mac-pro turned from pleasant to sour. Very poor customer service.
