My review is for my 2 daughters(age 5 and 4) and an adult class so it is a bit long. Both my daughters are in the beginner kids class now but when my oldest daughter started the class in the spring, she was 4. She had no prior folklorico dance experience. But she fell in love with folklorico from day 1. She loves everything about it; the music, the moves, the new friendships and even the history that the maestro gives them behind the dances. Since she has joined, she has performed a hand full of times at local festivals. Which is awesome. When she started the class in the spring, my youngest wasn’t old enough to join the class but she was still able to sit and watch with me. I love how the parents and younger siblings can be present during the whole practice. I am able to record them dance, which allows them to show their friends and family what they are learning in class. They are even learning a bit of Spanish in the class because the maestro speaks Spanish as well as English in the class. I love that the dance moves are a mix of easy and challenging movements for both of them. It is structured very well. The instructor takes dance seriously in a fun way and my girls are learning a lot because of it. In the class, they are constantly practicing their«listening skills» and«how to focus and follow instruction» skills. I love how proud and confident my kids get when they talk about their«folklorico dance class» with her friends and family. Maestro Cesar and Maestra Ashley are amazing. They have so much experience and are great instructors. Both are so friendly and nice and very helpful whenever I have any questions. I have to give many kudos to Maestro Cesar. He is so patient with the 4 and 5 yr olds and he is always making the girls laugh. All the parents at the class are also very friendly and helpful. Actually, I loved the classes so much that I even decided to join a beginners adult class in July. I have never taken a dance class in my LiFE so I was a bit nervous. But I love it. Practice is one of my most enjoyable«me times» I have now. I have even made some friendships through the classes with the other dancers. So I really recommend the beginner children and the beginner adult classes for anyone who wants to learn folklorico dance and have fun doing it. Oh btw: always remember to bring a water bottle, dancing is a workout. Hehehe.
