Saturday afternoon, the place is full, and decided to try this place. The owners are great, have any questions, they are happy to explain.

The words, ASGOODASITGETS, aren’t enough to describe the food at this place. A small, family run(i guess) kinda business which serve their own recipes. I moved to the States a few months back and had been craving for a good Biriyani and THISPLACEISAWESOME! Ordered a Biriyani with Chicken Kebab(As suggested by many other Unilocal reviews) and absolutely loved it… The Biriyani was flavorful yet not overpowered by the spices, which is a case in most of the biriyani places I have been to. The Kebabs were amazing and went wonderfully with the rice. Also ordered a Chicken Samosa, which was Yumm! If I was living in SJ, I would have gone to this place every other week. The service is quick and courteous. I thanked them at the end of the meal, and got a sweet request for a review on Unilocal,so, here it is… Note: Be there before 7.30PM, because we were the last ones to get a Biriyani that night. If you have a big family, suggest you to get a parcel.

Gulzaar is surprisingly a really good hole in the wall restaurant! I tried the beef and chicken biryani plate, and it was delicious! The food took a while to come out, but the meats was marinated perfectly. Since I can’t eat spicy food, mild had a nice kick without having that spicy taste lingering on my palette. Also, I can’t forget the rice pudding! Hella bomb! By far the best I’ve ever had. It wasn’t too sweet and I can taste the rose water and the nice touch of shredded pistachios on top. Great family owned business with nice owners too. I’ll definitely come back

I am sheepish to say that I went back and found the door this time. You just have to keep walking and eventually you will find the right door. The family members working there are extremely hospitable and give very good service. Also the kebab plate I got was great, the bread that comes with the table is amazing and my friend is still raving about the eggplant dish. I will definitely come back.

Having had left San Francisco and with that leaving behind all my favorite Pakistani and Middle Eastern restaurants was a sad moment for me. Once in San Jose I started looking for halal restaurants in my area. I was really lucky to have come across Gulzaar. I LOVE this place! The owners and Nadia are sweet hearts. I come to Gulzaar at least once a week. I usually always order their Beef Kebab Sandwich, which is my favorite. I try to go there every Saturday eat one sandwich there and take one for Sunday. My family who is really picky even enjoys their Beef Kebab Sandwiches. Last night my sister was hungry, so I took her and got two orders of Chicken Tikka Masala. I was impressed! Their Chicken Tikka is delicious. I still have the rest of their menu to try and I can’t wait! For those of us who have a sweet tooth try their Baklava, which is delicious! I highly recommend Gulzaar for their great customer service and food! And hey, their meats are HALAL!!!

Very congested very loud, table arrangement was so close and so odd that other table lady’s hair were touching our table. Food was okay kind, when I was asked I said taste was okay, in response she asked where I am from then she said oh you will not like it as if it is my problem and as if there is no scope left for improvement! Service don’t get me started on that… Almost first time Unilocal let me down but I won’t blame Unilocal or Unilocalers though. And parking, there is no parking and street was full as well.

Amazing is the only word worthy of describing this restaurant. We were strolling around and found this place for Lunch. I ordered the beef sandwich, which was amazing. The beef kabab in it was freshly made, all veggies were fresh, the bread was fresh. Undoubtedly this place is one of the best halal middle-eastern restaurants in Bayarea.

Top 5 best restaurants in the Bay Area. I’d go every day if I could. The owners are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and the whole place feels like«home». Your life isn’t complete until you’ve tried the fried eggplant.

A great mom & pop shop with delicious food and good service. We stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for Middle Eastern cuisine for dinner. The restaurant is a bit small with tables very close to each other so you can easily see what the party sitting next to you ordered. If you come with more than 4 people, you may have to wait to be seated together. There’s quite a variety of food on the menu but it’s laid out in a simple way that makes it easy to navigate through all the choices to figure out what to eat. The pictures on the wall sure helps to sway you if you haven’t quite made up your mind on what to eat. I ordered the Chicken Tikka and Beef Kabob with Biryani Rice. The meal comes with a side salad. I enjoyed the beef kabob more than the chicken tikka because it’s tender and bursting with lots of good flavors! The chicken was a bit dry. The staff was very attentive in coming by to ask if we enjoyed our meal as well as if we needed anything else. Street parking wasn’t hard to find. This is one of those spots I would love to come back to and try other items on the menu. If you’re an early riser, they also serve breakfast!

I normally don’t write Unilocal reviews, but had to to do one for this restaurant. This is by far the best Halal restaurant I have visited in my 37 years(21 years of driving of course) of existence. Please don’t pass this place up. It’s conveniently located off of 280N on Bascom/West San Carlos St. See my photos for what to get and what their speciality menu offers. Najib, the owner and his family, are very welcoming and kind. I will be visiting here many more times in my lifetime.

Be prepared to wait when you come here because there is no organization or prioritizing whatsoever. A tip: order when you walk in, pay, and seat yourself. If you wait for your order to be taken by the nice albeit brief woman after you seat yourself, you might wait forever. It will take forever to pay, too because it appears only one woman runs the FOH. There is a napkin dispenser, salt, pepper, and I think hot chili powder on the table but utensils are located by the cooler. If you see nothing, ask right after ordering! This place gets busy what w/all the phone orders, dine in patrons, Door Dash, etc. you will wait forever for utensils. The menu is pretty extensive. Offers a variety at a very reasonable price. What I love about this place is that they serve all natural and GMO-free dishes. I have a diet soda every now and then but being on a diet doesn’t necessarily means«healthy». I ordered naan(Gavin requested bread), I wanted to try the samosa, and I ordered the chicken tikka w/biryani rice. It was a super filling meal for the two of us but I cannot say that it was memorable. The naan was subpar, the dipping sauce was extremely watery, the samosa was delicious(not greasy at all), and the main entrée was filled w/biryani rice. Like hella rice! The chicken was flavorful but very dry, unfortunately. Glad I tried it as it was a bookmark. Pass.

4.5 stars! The mix plate biryani = DELICIOUS The veggie samosa = AMAZING The fried eggplant = EXCELLENT We also had the zaatar manakeesh and the chicken tikka masala, which were also really yummy. The food was very tasty, with lots of great flavor. The lady who took our order and brought us our food was really friendly and answered all the questions we had about the food. The biryani was cooked really well and came with chicken and beef. I liked the beef kebab better. Everything we ordered was so good. We got the Afghan naan to eat with our food.

5 stars hands down! I love this place, the first time I came, I was skeptical. But I fell in love after a bite. I ordered the kebab wrap and a side of rice, which were both mouth watering. The service was fast and I was able to be back to work in no time during my lunch break. The owner was also extremely nice and made sure I was satisfied with what I ordered! I love how it was family owned and run. Since my first visit I have been back on multiple occasions :) nom
