Read all the reviews. See a pattern there? Yeah, its mitchell. At first i was sad that the original tax prep lady we had left and my wife and i were left without an agent. We planned on going to some else one private for filing.
We went in to pick up our paper work that afternoon and get going to our private tax prep. That night mitchell was working. He introduced himself. He asked us permission to take a look at what we have and see if we can give him a change to look at what we had.
What a difference. We were amazed how brilliantly he combed through the software. He knew every detail and trick to make this work for YOU. In the end we stayed and its because of Mitchell. very talented individual.
If you’re going here make the effort and talk to mitchell. He is Worth your time.

After doing my own taxes for the first 20 or so years of my working life, this was my very first time letting someone else do it. Even though I was late to my appointment, my assigned tax assistant, Mitchell, stayed late (even after the office was closed to the public…) to help me get my filings done. As this was my first time dealing with stock option issues (the reason why I didn’t want to attempt it my myself) I had quite a few questions about FMV, gains and losses, etc. that Mitchell explained with ease. Even though I live further away this year, I will be coming back for sure. While I can’t speak for any of the other employees, Mitchell was courteous, knowledgable, and professional (all things that I would expect from a tax preparer) but also friendly and funny, which I was not expecting but made my visit that much better.

I had a appointment scheduled for today @ 11:00am I m wait over 30 min and nobody show up to office located on Taylor st. not even a cordial call to cancel or reschedule you waist my morning for nothing, I very desspoint with HR block

This is the very first time I attempted getting my taxes done from H & R Block and it was the most harrowing experience.
I made an appointment for 4 pm. I had only two forms, W2 and a 1099-​B as I had sold stock and some RSUs. The lady who was assigned my case had no clue how to calculate the cost basis or what needs to go where.
— Her computer was slow
— Browser was IE and it kept freezing
— Pdf docs would not open, so Chrome had to be installed
— I had already uploaded my forms on my H&R block but she did not know how and where to access it
Anyway, all this took an hour to get through. Finally, when we got to 1099-​B, she was stuck. She struggled another hour before asking her colleague Mitchell Moshell for help.
He came over, gave her inputs and even offered to take over from there. But she refused and continued. Another hour later, nada, no progress! By now Mitchell was busy with another client. Now she tells me to come back after an hour, by which time he will be done. Ok, I came back and then she talked to him and had keyed in some numbers resulting a large sum of money that I owed IRS.
By now I had no faith in her and decided to simply get out of there! 4 harrowing hours, nothing accomplished! What a terrible nightmare.
Do yourself a favor and just pick Mitchell Moshell, the dude knows his stuff. Rest of them in that office are agents from Hell.
I went to another H&R block office later and got my taxes done from Anna Marie at the Alameda office, who is thoroughly professional and very knowledgeable.

Mitchell is highly recommended tax professional !
i had really complicated taxes this year — 3 states, work from home, rental income and much more. i walked in with no expectations but was very pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. Mitchell was upfront from the start and was clear in setting up expectations of cost and my time. When he was not sure about something he was not hesitant to say that he is not sure and he needs to check. You might have to wait a little longer then you thought for your appointments — but you cant really blame Mitchell for that. Taxes are hard and it is not easy to stop in the middle and pick up from where you left off. This is the reason why appointments will almost always run a little late.

Reason for only 4 stars is because H&R Block did not provide envelopes for Fedieral and State return filings. Their explanation was that the manufacturer of the evelope had put the send to clear window in the wrong area. I can’t believe H&R could not get replacement envelopes in time for tax filing season. After paying $ 400+ for their service, providing two free envelopes would not be out of the question!

Taxes suck.
I usually do them by myself, they’re easy enough for a blonde to do… until stocks come into play.
Mitchell was awesome for my very, very small stock transactions I wasn’t comfortable doing. He was funny, easy to get ahold of, and every thing was simple enough.
If you a single, independent you should learn to do your simple taxes yourself, but if something changes and you need someone to provide a template for the future, or a quick and affordable person to do your taxes I would recommend this place.
They do have a bunch of diverse staff, so if english is your first (or only!) language, request Mitchell. If you’re fluent in something else, this place will have it. It’s pricey-ish…I wasn’t happy about spending so much money, but to do it right you gotta pay the piper.
Worth it for the absolute peace of mind, and (kind of!) fun I had getting my taxes done.

Don’t waste your time!
I called ahead to make an appointment. The lady I spoke with set me up with the manager mitchell m. This guy was a no-​show for the appointment and I was told no one could help me cause military filing is different and they don’t know how to file them.
Will not be going back.

This was my first year using H&R Block. I was a little hesitant to try them at first, having a very complicated return, but after speaking with the Manager, Mitchell, I trusted that it would be done correctly and professionally. He went above and beyond the call of duty being that I didn’t have all my paperwork with me the first time, and I needed a second appointment to finish working with my very busy schedule. Also, much Cheaper than the CPA i had been using. Also, thanks for the tax preparation tips to make it easier next year!

Not a fan of taxes, but I recommend Mitchell Moshell. He made getting my taxes done easy. Not cheap, because of all of the things I had going on, but overall had a good experience. I was able to call and get an appointment on ⁴⁄₁₄ when 3 other businesses I called were either not taking new clients or were just too overloaded to handle one more tax return. I hesistated to actually get my taxes done here because some of these pop up tax preparing businesses can be questionable. Being new to San Jose I took a chance at this location because it was convenient to where I live. I can say that I left with peace of mind and assurance knowing that he was thorough and efficient with concern for getting the job done right. His pleasant and helpful demeanor were much appreciated. They are open year round by appointment so I’m going back to have him amend my 2012 tax returns because the folks at Liberty Tax in Livermore didn’t file my return correctly. Smh. In addition, I’ll better prepared for next year’s tax return due to the guidance I received.

This place is a joke. A bunch of amateur tax preparer’s on a holiday break from their bag boy job at Safeway. Some barely spoke English and they were rude, unprofessional and, demeaning. Not to mention they wanted to charge me an extra $ 600.00 because I had one extra schedule for a rental property. When I asked if any of these people are certified or licensed tax preparers the answer was unequivocally «No.» Why would I pay $ 600 to have an unlicensed non-​English speaking person input my numbers into tax software? Well, I wouldn’t. So, for $ 79 I decided I could put the numbers into Turbo Tax myself and for a small additional fee, I could have Audit Protection from a licensed tax professional. Avoid this place like the plague!

Worst experience ever! I was helped by Alganesh Kifle and she was rude, unprofessional and belittling. I told her this was my first time coming to H&R Block and I wanted to know why they were better than doing taxes on line myself. She interpreted my question as I was wasting her time, so she packed up my stuff and told me if I did not process my tax return I would be charged $ 50 consulting fee! I tried to explain that this was my first time having someone else do my taxes and I wanted to know why they were the best option, but she ignored my question and told me «If you want to leave, leave. GO. but I will charge you consulting fee for wasting my time». She put her hand up and refused to answer my questions! Keep in mind this was also within the first 10 minutes that I sat down and started talking to her, which she offered NO information that would help me if I did the tax return myself. Feeling trapped I allowed her to finish my tax, which I now regret because I feel like she did not help me get all the deductions I usually receive. She did the basics, and did not ask me any additional questions to help me receive additional tax deductions.
Alganesh also yelled at her staff while I was sitting next to her. The office phone rang once and she yelled «SOMEONE GET THE PHONE!». Since I was sitting next to her it was like she was yelling in my face. She said it in a rude demeaning manner, like everyone else could not hear the loud ringing! I could understand if the phone was ringing multiple times, but it was not and there was no reason to yell at the other staff members when a customer was sitting right next to her. I was sorry and embarrassed for the staff!
I will NEVER go back to H&R Block again! I cannot believe they let someone so unprofessional and rude work for them! I left a customer service message with their corporate office in regards to my experience, but I have yet to receive a response.
