I think this is the real Chinese restaurant. Those foods are not like American Chinese restaurant and taste pretty good. This place can be good if you go with your family because foods are pretty much for finish by your self!

All in all, it’s alright. It’s cheap and the food is decent. Service was pretty good for a chinese/Vietnamese restaurant. Always drive by this place assuming it’s like taipan. It does have the all day dim sum counter, but now with dine in options too.

After a long e-mail saga of dim sum suggestions and indecisiveness, we finally settled on a spot for a group gathering. Luckily, it was good. HK Dim Sum is one of the three outposts of Tai Pan Dim Sum. I’ve had Tai Pan several times before and enjoyed it, mainly for inexpensive dim sum to-go though. I was actually somewhat excited for the chance to try them fresh. I don’t have photos seeing as how it was mainly a social affair and the lazy Susan layout wasn’t conducive to photography. We did have two dim sum carts come by the table before our native speaker ended up pulling over a server and making the bulk of our order. All the dishes came out hot or warm. Shu mai and the deep fried taro/pork, some of my favorites, were pretty tasty here. I also really enjoyed a certain pork dish that I believe was pork spare ribs with black beans, as well as the«pineapple» buns in spite of their lack of fruit or filling. A lot of the meat-filled buns seem to have distressingly low filling-to-bread ratios though, so I’d definitely avoid most or all of those. Also, somebody ordered beef chow fun a la carte, and that dish was woefully underseasoned. I know the whole yarn about not being able to remove salt and such, but that shouldn’t be a rationalization for not adding at least some minimum amount of salt. The real win is that the food is cheap. Each dish tops out at about $ 3. Oh, and they kept the hot tea going for us, which was appreciated on a cold day such as day. It wasn’t that warm inside the spacious dining area. I could definitely see myself coming to HK Dim Sum again for affordable dim sum, if such a craving were to strike at some point. It’s in a crowded plaza with a Lion Supermarket and other restaurants,

We spent 20 minutes looking for a new Dim Sum spot to try and I’m glad that we ended up choosing this place. When you walk in, there is Dim Sum displayed in a food case if you’d like to order to go. If you’d like to dine in you can make your way to the further counter on the left for them to seat you. Pros: Decent prices. The food was great, we enjoyed everything we ordered. If you don’t see the dish you want in the mobile cart then you have the option to order whatever you please from the separate dim sum menu. Pieces in each dish are fairly bigger than most similar restaurants. Wide variety of food on both menus. Empty plates were removed from the table quickly. Cons: Hard to find parking in the packed lot.(Not the restaurants fault) There is only 1 cart with food rolling amongst the 15+ tables. They aren’t attentive after you place your order and it was hard to get their attention.

This place is awesome. Really good service. Very professional and clean. The food is also very consistent. I’d highly recommend the sweet and sour chicken, vegetable fried rice, and the garlic Chinese broccoli. In my opinion it’s the best Chinese restaurant in San Jose hands down.

Food is fresh, made right, tastes right, and is enough. Plus, it isn’t packed and uncomfortable like Chinatown’s restaurants. The prices are reasonable for the location and quantity of food you get. Also, there is a to-go kitchen in the restaurant to buy duck, roast pig, and other usual chinese side dishes.

This place is hit or miss. Tonight was a miss. I order sweet and sour pork and it was soggy and disgusting. When I ask the server, he said I probably don’t eat it often enough. Rude and stereotyping. It usually good and crispy here. I am very disappointed. Their meat with veggies is always good. Their 3 dishes for $ 20.99 is a good deal. Open late and a gamble for decent food.

Come here not for the dim sum but lunch and dinner dishes. They have very authentic HK hawker style food from a previous era. Their 3-dish-plus-rice for $ 20 can easily feed 3 people. You can tell how good a Chinese restaurant is by their simple dishes like stir fry Chinese broccoli. Folks, they have the best stir fry chinese broccoli in the entire Bay Area. Their usage of bitter melon is master level. Nowhere can you find dishes like«bitter melon with eggs» in the Bay Area. Their wontons are huge, fresh and super yummy. Super, super good. Service is not bad. But people, you go to a restaurant for food, not being pampered like queens. Especially true for Chinese restaurants.

I really wasn’t expecting much, but this place had pretty decent food for an overwhelmingly affordable price. I love the fact that they had chicken feet, and good ones too. Perfectly braised and a nice juicy bit of tendon and cartilage. The siew Mai and har gao were nothing special, but still appetizing. Everything we ordered(yam cake, pork ribs, red bean pau) were satisfying. I’ve yet to try the noodles or porridge, but for a meal it sure sounds decent!

The dumplings and wonton soup is a must here! But service wise not so much. It gets crowded at lunch time and the waiters are everywhere but at your own table! They have seating area for dine in only and there is a Togo line for bbq pork and dim sum. They also have two big screen tv! I’m not really sure what the vibe is at this place. It’s not like most dim sum places. This feels rushed and it feels as though they are trying to do everything! But I would go and get their wonton soup. For $ 6.25 you get a bowl with 15 wontons! Yes I counted! It was really good. The wontons fillings are made with shrimp and pork. The broth is so easy to sip up. This bowl was perfect for that rainy season. I think I will come back and try the wonton noodle soup here! Fair warning, this is located in a small plaza with limited parking! There’s cars everywhere! You might have to park a little farther but it’ll guarantee a roomy space!

I had the wonton duck noodle soup. It was excellent. The noodles were chewy, the duck was crispy, and the wonton had whole shrimp in it. It was almost $ 10 which is more than other places but this tasted fresher and healthier. The restaurant is relatively new so its clean and open. The servers barely speak English. Trying going with a Vietnamese or Chinese friend if you have one.

Ok, it’s certainly not the BEST quality foods there is. But I’m a fan because it’s damn affordable, I feel like I get a lot of options and the place opens until 1AM on a weekday. On the BBQ side, I really enjoy their intestines. Very tender. FAN! I do not like their roasted duck. There’s no fat on that duck! I’ve had much MUCH better elsewhere. Their roasted pig is only aiite, too. The soy sauce chicken is tasty. When you order a 2 or 3 item BBQ combo, it comes with a hefty portion of Chinese broccoli. Dim sum is just ok. It won’t beat a sit down restaurant. After 7PM, it’s buy two get one free or something like that. Not bad. The noodle dishes are good. We’ve eaten at the restaurant side. There’s so many food options, it gets overwhelming. They have their chef’s specials. Then they have this crazy long list of menu items, each dish is $ 8OR you can order any three dishes for $ 20.99. Not bad at all. I like their peking spareribs, intestines with bitter melon, and eggplant. I tried their salt and pepper shrimp and it was like deciding if it wanted to be tempura battered or seasoned. Just not feeling it. When you eat at the restaurant side, they give you complementary house soup, too! For a good late night, cheap meal, this place hits the spot just fine.

HK Dim Sum is Tai Pan Dim Bakery’s third venture.(1st one on Capitol Expressway and 2nd one on Saratoga Ave, all next to Lion Supermarket) This location is ~10−20 cents more expensive than the other two locations. This location also has plenty of seating, waiter service along with much longer hours. Service is okay and parking tends to be tight.

Wow. Talk about parking challenges… you little Asian ladies need to be careful. For me this was an awful dining experience with great entertainment value. Your basic Midwestern white guy on the prowl for Dim Sum, I popped in for takeout today. Still cash only The fried foods are still all cold and everything else in that case. The steamed foods are hot. Fried shrimp ball good. Chui Chow dumpling was disgusting(no idea though, perhaps that was the way it was supposed to taste) Seafood shui Mai lacked flavor. Steamed shrimp balls were very good Pork Shui Mai was very good. The lady behind the counter and I had a hard time understanding each other… by the end we were yelling at each other. I think we both enjoyed ourselves Best to avoid if your looking for dim sum.

HK DimSum brought to mind New Kwong Kok(Milpitas). wrong! dimsum is only the take out end. there’s a eat down eatery and chinese bbq meats too. review dim sum only, not on eatery nor bbq items. eats: shark fin dumplings(3⁄3) –asked for shrimp dumplings. OUT! –huge, large guppie sized dumplings –don’t know where the shark fin was, out of state probably. remember the ban? -$ 3 seems the minimum across the board pricing for dim sum, take outs: –parking difficult in the area. –fast friendly service no other take out patrons.

Visited again and I must say so far very consistent. This review is for the restaurant side and not the dim sum carry out side. My food was fresh and came out in good time. Service was prompt and swift. They almost hover but are not intrusive or annoying. I really enjoy coming here. Very good eats. And like I said before they keep odd hours for those of us that work crazy hours. Enjoy!

In A Nutshell: *The dim sum I ordered to-go was taste-less. *It was also super oily and cold. They should invest in OR turn on their warmers. *I’m willing to try to place again to order some pork/duck. Overall, at least inside it was very clean and more spacious than I thought it would be. Let’s hope the next visit bumps up the rating.

This is a Hong Kong style restaurant located across the street from Grand century mall. They have a variety of dim sums and Chinese pastries to pick from. I opted for their wonton duck noodle soup. It was extremely delicious and they were generous on the wontons. A little pricy at $ 8.75 s bowl but I think it’s well worth it. You order at the register and pick a table then they’ll bring out the food for you. Many people get confused when walking in because they assume it’s a restaurant where you sit down, get a menu and order. My only tips are, they are cash only and stand your ground when in line! Those little old ladies will cut you and not give a flying heck. I’ve witness an altercation today because of the disorganize lines! :)

My family wanted to eat here because it was advertised on TV all the time. It wasn’t bad though I have to say. I love the texture of the food, but it may be too bland for some people’s taste. I like it though. We got 3 dishes, but I like the tofu pot the most. The soft tofu was fried and then drenched in sauce. The beef noodle was good, but oily(but all Chinese foods are). The clams were a bit too salty for my taste. Overall, I can taste the freshness of the food because of the texture. On a side note, I really like their menus. It’s laminated and bind with pictures of their popular dishes. :D I would give this place a 3.5… it is better than A-OK, but I’m not a huge fan of it either.
