I heard that this place is known for their Bo 7 Mon(7 courses of beef). Well they very much are so. The first time I actually heard about bo 7 mon was actually from The Fung Bros. Yes, I’m that guy who goes to places that they go to. Come on, they make everything they go to look pretty good. For those of you who don’t know The Fung Bros, they are some youtube personas who do lots of cool things down in SoCal. Anyway, so we went here specifically for this dish. The plaza that it’s located in is pretty packed, had to circle around a few times before snatching a spot. I heard terrible stories around here about parking, so just watch out for other people. Upon walking in, you can immediately tell(if you hadn’t already from the name), that this is going to be one of those places that you feel embarrassed that you can’t speak any Vietnamese. My friend is actually half viet, but he wasn’t much help in the food department, or anything relevant to the meal in fact. Just kidding, if you are reading this. Things I learned from this experience: Bo 7 mon includes: 1. hotpot style beef slices; 2. beef salad; 3, 4, 5. different beef sausages; 6. beef meatball; 7. beef congee How to make your own spring rolls(by unashamedly staring at the tables around me). Maybe I just really enjoyed the novelty of the experience, but the beef was honestly spot on. I loved the variety, and also making your own spring rolls is always fun with others(who also aren’t really good at that).

Came here for the first time over the weekend to try their 7 courses of beef and grilled catfish. The 7 courses beef is much cheaper than Anh Hong in Milpitas($ 24 for 2 persons vs. $ 22/person) and I personally think it tasted better than Anh Hong’s also. However, the grilled catfish($ 36 for medium one) is a dissapointment. Lack of flavor, lots of small bones in the fish(so you have to be very careful while eating it if you don’t want to choke on fish bones), and overcooked. No extra charge when we asked for additional wrappers and side dishes(lettuce, mint leaves, cilantro, cucumbers, carrots & noodle), twice. The older gentleman who was helping us gave my daughter a free box of mochi dessert when we complimented him for the food after we paid.

This place is terrible. Broth taste like powdered chicken bullion mix with water and salt. Broth was too salty and tasteless. I actually asked for a bowl of hot water to mix with the broth of my banh canh to lighten it up a bit. It wasn’t just my broth that was salty, my wife’s phở and my son’s chao bo(it wasn’t even cooked all the way, its like steam rice mix with beef broth in a can with some chopped up beef) was salty too! I dont know how this place is still in business. I gave them(2) star because the vietnamese style egg roll was okay(it was a bit small and burn a little). I went here because Unilocalers gave them a decent review, but i don’t think their food is good. Unilocalers need to give an honest review. These Unilocalers are probably friends and family reviews. First time here, will be the last. Sorry i dont support this business.

Pros Catfish: I specifically came here to try out their version of the catfish and it was great. Cooked and seasoned just right to make your own spring rolls. The catfish comes with usual sides for spring rolls such as noodles, vegetables, rice paper, and fish sauce for dipping. Prices: prices for their 7 courses of beef and catfish is pretty cheap compared to its competitors. Cons Bo lol lat: the beef sausage was bland and the size is super small compared to Anh Hong version. Seating: the place is small so seating gets cramped considering they try to fit in as many tables as possible. I suggest making a reservation ahead of time if you don’t wanna wait for a table. However I did feel bad when they kicked off another family after they had realized they have given my reserved table to another family so be warned you could be that family that gets booted to another smaller table LOL.

My friend and I came here for the seven courses of beef. Two people for $ 22? I can’t think of a cheaper place in the South Bay(possibly the entire Bay Area). You won’t walk out feeling super full, but it’s just the right amount. They are very generous with the veggies and rice paper to wrap the different kinds of meat in. I can’t wait to go back and try the other dishes, because it smelled and looked like they do all kinds of Vietnamese food well(yeah, I’m one of those people that creepily stares at other people’s food at the next table). Service is attentive and quick, too!

7 courses and fried fish Worth a try if you’ve never tried this style of eating. A very do-it-yourself type vibe and worth the experience. A bit pricey even though you do all the heavy lifting and manual labor. Small shop and feels cramped but otherwise good experience.

Came for dinner with a party of 5 Ordered: 2 orders of the 7 courses of Beef.(Signature dish) & small deep fried/baked fish. It was the perfect amount for the 5 of us. Everyone was full. Since the 7 courses is their signature dish… All the meats were good. My favorite would have to be the grilled beef. All the meat is is served with a dish of veggies that include: lettuce, radish, cucumbers, sprouts, basil & mint. Dip the rice paper in water and wrap it all up! The fish is pretty bland. But if you wrap it up and add sauce, it’s pretty bomb. The service isn’t bad but you have to keep asking for things to be refilled.(Water and veggies) Overall: will probably look for another place for 7 courses of beef. Tip: Come with a Vietnamese friend. The restaurant employees are all Vietnamese, I found it difficult to ask for certain things and felt like a second priority while dining.

My friends and I went here for dinner and we ordered: The 7 course beef: — Beef salad, which was very refreshing! — Raw meat for the hot pot(YUMMMM) — steamed beef cake(?) — 3 beef sausages(my favorite was the one wrapped in leaves) — beef porridge to wash all the food down. *of course it also came with rice paper and the greens* Everything was so good specially with the stinky sauce! We also ordered the grilled catfish(medium), which was big enough for the three of us! Too bad the skin wasn’t as crunchy as we hoped for… Also, fish kinda lacked flavor compared to other places I’ve been to… Nonetheless I’ll be back to get their 7 course beef again! Service was okay… we had to keep asking them for water and sauce several times until they finally gave them to us. Also the fish did they awhile to come. we were almost finished with the 7 course beef when they brought it out.

This place was delicious. We came here with some friends, one of whom is Vietnamese, and totally enjoyed our meal. The family that owns this place are very nice people who work hard, and a lot of the family members are there running the restaurant themselves. Vietnamese spring rolls — very good and comes with mint and lettuce to wrap around them. One order has 4. We collectively had the beef in lotus leaf and the beef sausage. Both are grilled meatball-esque items and the serving was large! If you have them with the accompanying rice paper, mint /basil, lettuce, bean sprouts, carrot, cucumber, and rice sticks, it makes a filling meal for 4. Food came out fast after we ordered and when we asked for extra mint and rice paper, we immediately got it. Overall, wonderful dinner with great food, and great prices(10 – 15 for entrees). Parking can be a bit congested at this plaza, the restaurant can be a little cramped(especially in the back of the restaurant), and there was a short wait(we arrived around 7:45PM on a Saturday and waited about 10 minutes, but a lot of the rush had dissipated by around 8:30. Still, a really good value for the quality of food.
