I saw Dr. Kaplan last year re: a small bulging vein on my leg. After looking at the vein with an ultrasound, he said he wasn’t sure what it was(which should have been my first clue to see another vein specialist). He performed sclerotherapy on that vein and a long vein on my outer thigh. After the required recovery time, the small bulging vein was still there. I went back for a follow-up and he said it may take more time to disappear. A year later the vein is still there, as are remnants from the longer vein, so I went for another follow-up last week. He said he would try a different procedure, but that I would have to pay $ 850 for it, on top of what I had already paid for the first procedure that didn’t work. I chose not to proceed with having him do any additional work for the following reasons: 1) I had no confidence that he in fact knew the cause for the vein; 2) he didn’t bother acknowledging that his first procedure didn’t work(at my expense) and offering to do the second procedure at a reduced cost as a result; and 3) in my opinion, I don’t think he truly cares about the aesthetic results of his ‘cosmetic’ treatments. Doctors who perform cosmetic treatments are typically very interested in ensuring their patients are satisfied with the visible results from their procedures, that was not the case with this doctor. If you are looking for vein removal for cosmetic reasons, I would not recommend Dr. Kaplan.

I was referred to Dr. Kaplan by my neurosurgeon due to swelling in my legs. This condition was due to my profession as a Surveyor and after 30+ years on my feet, my veins were not something I’d share with the rest of the world. To cut to the chase, Dr Kaplan was able to see me the next day and preformed a sonogram that day and set up an appointment the following week for a more detailed study. I found his demeanor to be friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I’d be back to him in a heartbeat. Superior physician.
