This spot is really neat, perfect if you want to walk into a fresh fish warehouse, select your own catch for a great price. Definitely more crustacean selection (lobsters, crabs, clams) but we were able to get two whole red snappers that came from Japan earlier in the day.
Admittedly we weren’t sure what to do from there but after some YouTube and instructional video we had a delicious cleaned fish ready for salting and and eating!
Totally worth checking out if you’re looking for super fresh seafood that has never seen the inside of a display case.

Shady looking warehouses, dirty wet floors, and a Chinese man sitting on a plastic stool, smoking cigarettes — these are the things that I’ve grown accustomed to in my favorite 80’s and 90’s action movies set in Hong Kong. Funnily enough, these are all things you can see at K & C.
I found out about this place back in 2013, when one of my old college mates kept posting Instagram photos of the live Dungeness crab he’d purchase here. Wanting to try for myself, I visited this establishment with my sister in tow.
As we went the day before Thanksgiving, the prices of the crab were a tad bit higher than what we saw in previous Unilocal reviews. But after driving 20 or so miles to get here, my sister picked up 4 live crabs and I decided on the $ 35 box of Pacific Oysters.
The crabs were delicious and we had no complaints. The oysters were delicious but we found a couple oysters already dead and open when we got to them. I’m pretty proficient in handling and consuming oysters as you can see in my profile, so these oysters went bad through no fault of my own.
I’ve tried the kumamoto and shigoku oysters from here as well. If you’re buying them in bulk, this is the place to go.
You do need to beware though. One afternoon, a friend and I purchased a box of 5 dozen kumamoto oysters. The attendant who helped us said that we couldn’t keep the box that the oysters came in, and proceeded to dump the oysters into a bag for us. After driving 20 miles home, we noticed that we had only half the amount of oysters that we had purchased. We called them, explained the situation, and without much fuss, they told us to come back. We drove back and as soon as we pulled up, there was the same woman helping us, handing us another bag with the remaining oysters. No apology, no eye-​contact, no nothing.
I guess I would be sheepish too if I got caught hustling a customer. I will be coming back here, but only if I’m unable to get my seafood fix from my preferred fish monger.
Minus 1 star for being cash only. Minus another star for fluctuating prices. Minus half a star for oyster incident.

This place is funky, and we only came here because we were desperate for live crab on Christmas day. Someone suggested the location because it was open on the holiday. The place was a clusterscrew of disorganized proportions. There was live seafood stacked throughout a small and disheveled warehouse. The people working there were frantic, loud and obnoxious. They acted like they had a bad case of ADD trying to figure out where to move merchandise, seafood, and how to coral their customers around the chaos.
The prices were outrageous (I’m sure we got the Christmas day supply and demand special) and no one working there could give you a clear and concise answer without yelling to five other irrelevant people to the transaction at hand. I had a headache when I left.
Also, this is a cash-​only business, and yes they have an ATM conveniently in the corner. It is a shady little establishment and I would try to avoid coming here if we did not have any future holiday mishaps.

but super cheap oysters! Kumamoto and Shigoku are shipped from Taylor oyster shellfish in Seattle and they are delicious… You have to shuck them yourselves tho ;(
I tried Uni (sea urchin) once for $ 10 a box but it was a total sh** so –1 star for that

If you need seafood in bulk for cheap then this is the place to go. I always go here to get oysters :)
Perfect for potlucks or if you need lobster in bulk for a large party!!! I have yet to get the uni here, but I definitely plan to. The prices do fluctuate, but they are still pretty hard to beat considering you get 4 – 5 dozen (oysters).

Pricing isn’t at wholesale more like retail. Small lobster 9.99/lb big one 11.99. Kummamoto 1.5/each was expecting better value…

Oysters were awesome and the prices are in line with most wholesalers considering what you are buying.
I didn’t see any haggling– prices are clearly marked out front. Unilocal has some old photos up.
Even though they sell oysters by the 5doz case you can ask to buy less. Just keep in mind you likely won’t get a price break. If they cost $ 10/​dozen for 5doz, you will still pay $ 10/​doz for however many you buy. Good to know if 60 oysters is too much for your function.

I absolutely love this place. It is really really a gem. Everything here is so fresh. The oysters omg so so good and very very white. They have everything from crabs to sea urchin to lobsters and every sea animal you can name. This is highly recommended

Oysters…44 out of 48 were fresh… the other 4 smelled so bad when we bbq-​ed them up.
Pricing…can’t be beat. However, I dislike how one of the «owners» would tell you one price, and the other «owner» would quote you another price. So if ur lucky, you get a better price! Kinda deceptive! I was annoyed when I was told $x/​lb if I buy over 20 pounds of lobster and when I came to pick up, the price jumped up.

A friend had told me of this place after finding it through her boyfriend, she mentioned huge lobsters and delicious oysters at value pricing. With that I was hooked on the idea of going and kept the Unilocal newsletter that also recommended it in my personal inbox as a reminder to go and try the place. I had a party to attend to in wine country later in the week, so what better way to surprise friends then by bringing 5 dozen fresh kumamoto oysters?
Firstly as everyone mentioned CASH ONLY. When my friend and I showed up we had forgotten to bring cash and then had to swing around to an atm a couple blocks away and restock.
You can get other types of oysters but I mainly prefer the smaller ones, and kumamoto the best because they have this amazing sweet flavor. They only sell oysters in orders of 5 dozen, so you can mix and match types but then they will still charge you the highest price for the type of oysters.
Along with that we got 2 palettes of fresh uni. At Nijiya or Mitsuwa the uni always looks this slightly less bright color, but here they were bright yellow, which is a sign of freshness.
Would definitely come back here to grab lobsters or other delicious seafoods. Everyone was so excited at the party we took them to, and everything tasted fantastic, and no one got evils the next day so it must have been fresh.

Absolutely delicious and fresh seafood. Some of them are imported, frozen– such as clams, but they still tasted great. Pretty affordable and is cash only. Friendly staff and awesome bonus that they spoke cantonese :) Parking is on the streets and kind of limited, but shouldn’t be too hard to find parking. As others have mentioned, it is like a warehouse dropoff for seafood. Just have to flag down one of the workers, tell them what you want, weigh it, pay and you’re off! :D
only drawback, limited supplies so come early, esp if there are holidays! When I went last time, they ran out of uni :(

This must be the place the Fishmarket goes to when they run out of oysters or prawns because it’s super affordable! Excellently fresh and full of many of your favorite fish items for us fish lovers! My wife now drives over once a week to load up on what otherwise we purchase at Costco or the Japanese food market on Saratoga avenue. I love this place and you will too! Tons of choices! Back up the boat men on the dock!

Awesome fresh and affordable seafood! If you’re a huge oyster (and seafood) fan, this place is the place for you!
Oysters are sold in boxes of 60, and the kumamoto and shigokus are the freshest in the area! That is if you dont want to drive 1+ hours north of SF to get to the Tomales Bay oyster farm.
Lobsters, crab, etc are live in the tank so the crab will still be crawling when you bring them home. They also have fish, clams, uni (deshelled and in the box).
Cash only, but there is an ATM (with surcharge) around for you to withdraw cash. You can bring and ice box if you want, but its not necessary if you’re not going too far.
Recommend to come around 11+am!

When I read other Unilocal reviews, I thought the wholesale prices on seafood here must have been a joke, but I was intrigued and needing to get some oysters for my dad for Father’s Day and decided I’d go in.
I knew going in that the early bird gets the worm, so I left my house at 8am to make sure everything I was after would still be available to me.
I had originally planned on spending about $ 100, (a few dozen oysters and maybe some shrimp) but when I got there the price for 5 dozen Kumamoto oysters (6÷20÷15) was at $ 80 (Market Price!). I decided to just stick with the Kumamotos and call it a day, headed back home and stored them overnight in the fridge.
I panicked a little when I saw the «Harvest Date» on the box (which was 6÷9÷15) and was a little uneasy if those little shuckers would still be alive when we went to eat them. Thankfully the entire box was alive and I didn’t have to throw a single oyster away. They were bright, clean and closed when I opened the box.
60 oysters is a lot though you guys, and my dad ended up having to invite a buddy of his over to help us finish the rest of them.
Overall I’d highly recommend K&C if you’re in the market for bulk seafood, and check around on the internet and see if their prices match where they’re sourced… (It was up to date from Taylor Farms which seems to be where they source their oysters).

I’ve heard about this place from co-​workers and they rave about how this is prolly the best place to buy crabs. Came here a couple of months ago one Saturday morning after pulling a 12hr shift. Knowing that they don’t open til 8am I parked across the way from them in front of the Mexican restaurant. The owner spotted me circling the street a couple of times and once I parked he waved at me and told me to come in. Much to my surprise I was in and out in less than 10mins. BRING CASH WITH YOU!!! Your credit card isn’t welcome here. I’ve read from other reviews about people complaining about the owner. He was very nice and pleasant towards me.
Know what you want to make the process quicker. I suggest get there when they open, I heard they do tend to run out because they also supply to local restaurants.
Signage for this place isn’t too visible so know ahead of time where you’re going. I just remember the Mexican resto on the corner… that was my landmark.

Heard about this place after getting a recommendation from a friend. Initially, I drove past this place since the fencing in the front looked as if it was closed but eventually found my way in. You can tell its a wholesaler right when you walk up to the entrance. You’re greeted by a large whiteboard with the oysters and clams they have available along with the prices. They have other items not listed, such as lobster, so if you’re looking for something specific, it’s worth the time to ask.
There were two employees there helping out customers. They were friendly and very helpful. They get everything you need so you just need to let them know what you’re looking for and they’ll go get it inside. I ordered 96 medium pacific oysters, 5lbs of mussels, 5lbs of Manila clams, and a box of 60 kumamoto oysters. They handed my the pacific oysters and put the clams and mussels into a plastic bag with some ice packs, and the Kumamoto clams had some ice packs in the box. Didn’t expect them to provide the ice packs and I came prepared with some coolers and ice but it’s a nice touch.
Something to note, they only accept cash so come prepared. They had a sign indicating they had an atm inside but I never went inside to verify.
Overall I had a great experience with this place and would highly recommend them. I’ll definitely be back!

Great selection of fresh seafood here at K&C. I’ve read the other reviews that say their hours are flaky so I always call ahead to get prices and to make sure they are open. I think their prices are little bit on the higher side, but you can tell that the quality of their seafood is amazing.
I came here in Nov 2014, and they had 2+lb crabs which were amazing. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs so we got 4 crabs, but we couldn’t even finish it all with 6 people.
One cool thing, the lady speaks a bunch of languages!
Pro tip: cash is king, so don’t forget it.

So last week my coworker inspired me by describing the lobster feast she was planning to cook for Thanksgiving. I remember a while back seeing one of my Unilocal friend’s check ins for this place and pulled out my phone for a quick Unilocal search. I quickly realize this warehouse is just a few minutes from where I live. It literally took longer for me to find parking on the street than it took to drive here.
All business here, don’t expect any pleasantries (not even a hello). You walk in and let them know what you want, they weigh and bag and you pay (cash only!). I was in and out in five minutes.
$ 50 for two large crabs and a 2lb lobster. My 9 yr old was freaking out a bit as we walked back to the car. He didn’t quite understand that we were going to leave with them still alive. Poor kid. He wanted nothing to do with it.
A quick trip home and then an afternoon of prepping for crabcakes and lobster rolls. I have a newfound respect and understanding for why this stuff is so expensive on restaurant menus.
Now that I know how close to home K&C is, I’ll definitely come back and try out some of the other options.

My friend recommended me to this place because she knows I love seafood. If you’re looking to purchase any type of seafood for any occasion then this is the spot to go. I came here to purchase 5 dozens of kumamoto oysters for $ 50 for my friends BBQ today. (WHAT A STEAL!)
They sell a variety of seafood such like kummaoto oysters, shigoku oysters, regular oysters, clams, crawfish, dungeness crab, lobster, and spot prawns! Prices are fair/​pricey but you pay for what you get which is quality.
Tips: Call ahead before you come here because they tend to sell out fast. This place is CASH ONLY, so bring extra cash. Last but not least parking structure here is bad, so I would recommend to come here early when they open.
