I was looking for a vocal teacher who could help me start singing. Having no experience I was hoping to find someone who was kind and sensitive with me. I tried a few teachers who I found were a little too rough and forceful. I was also feeling judged by my previous teachers which didn’t really create a positive atmosphere. I found Kat Parra through a friend and I’m really happy I decided to try her out. Her teaching style was very flexible to my needs and I feel like I learned a lot in a short amount of time. I highly recommend her as a voice teacher for beginners and I am grateful for her help. I’ve seen a huge improvement.

I found Kat during a period where I had some extra time to dedicate in expanding my vocal horizons. I really had NO idea where to go, but after my first email exchange with her, she had already addressed each issue and that she could help. I wanted to increase range, tone, pitch control and to know where my limits(and talents) sat. She really opened my eyes and made me confident in my strong areas and aware of the ones that needed work. Scheduling was simple and the sessions were completely worth it. She is totally honest with you and doesn’t take you thru the same exercises for the sake of repetition. AND she doesn’t just hand out compliments haphazardly. I also found myself really«studying» beforehand so that I wouldn’t disappoint her during sessions! I like how she«gets» your learning curve and adapts her curriculum to what is going to help YOU. My lessons were only a ½ hour for the course of a few months, but, let me tell you, I’m a whole new singer and thankful for it. To Kat’s credit, I was playing in a regular cover band before meeting her and after the lessons, I serendipitously found myself auditioning for lead singer of a Prince tribute band, which I ultimately landed. Folks, without her instruction and guidance there would have been *NO* way to accomplish this. (and by the way, she is a fantastic singer/vocalist currently active in the circuit/community today, so her instruction is THAT much more relevant). Thank you, Kat!!!
