Kim Nguyen Market is divided into 2 sections, a vietnamese market and a 99 cents and up section next to the market. didn’t wander inside. looked cramped. bottleneck at the front where people standing around talking, ready to pay. buys: wintermelon pastry(2) my kia bakery –mostly flaky white crust with wintermelon bits, flour, and mung bean mixed together. chinese bakers did this cheaper a while ago. only in the bay area now. this kind of pastry is becoming an lost art…(too labor intensive…)

I USE to regularly go here because it is just around the corner and walking distance from my house and my GF’s house. She usually picks up some snacks instead of having to drive all the way to one of the other Asian markets. Thats really all we get as already mentioned there aren’t any fruits or vegetables. The place is located in a strip mall with other Vietnamese businesses. I always get egg rolls at LP Egg Rolls(see my review) and tofu and that dessert like the Filipino Halo Halo in Thanson Tofu, and I actually eat a lot of com tam over there at Com Tam Thien, so I am very very familiar with the area and parking can sometimes be tight, but you can always find a spot rather quickly. So why the 1 Star? I’m sorry, but If I’m going to get threatened privately, how can I give that a positive review. Member Lily L. left me 2 hateful messages. Her profile: Her message to me was: «You’re a fcking cheat. My aunt owns Kim Nguyen and her best friend owns the nail store. They never saw you this past week. I doubt you even go there 12 times in 2 days. Why don’t you check into a store you actually go to instead of sitting on your lazy ass and cheat.» WOW, that answers that doesn’t it. If you are the business owner, I’m sorry, but I can’t be threatened like that by someone who claims to be associated with your business. Here is a screen capture of what she sent me:

A small vietnamese market in a strip mall, what caught my eye was the interesting artwork in the cactus leaves outside the front door. Check out the photos. Had snacks, drinks and canned and dry goods, no fresh fruits or veggies. Parking lot is really tight, must be a dicey neighborhood, the doors and windows have bars on them in this area.
