D Komahisan was my mothers DR. I went with her to a visit and witnessed him basically scolding and belittling her. I came to write notes and document per my mothers’ s request. He was doing tests, taking skin grafts from head, thinking her pain, illness was something way other than what it was truly was. In the end, he was way off. It wasn’t until my mother went to Stanford and that the Drs there found what was ailing her, Cancer. By than it was too late and she died shortly after. I do not recommend this DR. Request not only a second but a third opinion. Shame on Dr Komshian.

My cardiologist, a top doc in CA(and US) wanted me to go to my primary care physician(at the time Dr. Komshian) for a routine prescription and management of Cholesterol. Perhaps Dr K was having a bad day, because he was good in the past, however on this day he was he was: dismissive, condescending, and rude. He took no notice of the cardiologist’s request, gave me a xerox copy of a diet(completely not relevant to my situation), and sent me on my way. I have a family history of heart disease and not obesity.(a good friend of mine in athletic form had a heart attack due to cholesterol). I think he should stick to his speciality, for which he seems to have top ratings, and not try to be a primary physician. He is very intelligent, but clearly overworked.

Dr. Komshian is also board certified in Infectious Diseases as well as Internal Med. His staff is kind(though a bit busy). I was able to luckily get a next day appointment. My mother insisted in coming with me and he was good at including her. When we left his office after my initial visit, my mom(who fears doctors and hasn’t been to one in 10+ years) said that she was quite impressed with him. ^^ When he ordered the lab tests that I needed, he was very patient in explaining what each was for to my satisfaction. He alleviated and addressed my concerns. In my follow-up visit, he gave me my directions and even wrote down for me specifically what I needed. Knowing my nomad-like situation, he even impressed upon me how important it was for me to go for a follow-up wherever I was to make certain that the therapy was proper. I felt that he really cared about his patients. After that follow-up visit, my mom said«Oh my, he’s so stern.»

He’s a great doctor! Very kind person, and most importantly, very thorough.
